This relaxing meditation uses your morning coffee to expand your awareness and focus your attention onto the present moment! The background music includes a mellow acoustic guitar with harmonically matched crystal bowls. And to reflect a gentle connection with the morning, you'll also hear the gentle chirping of birds recorded by me in a mountain forest near my home at dawn, as I enjoyed my own morning coffee! During this meditation, as the coffee energizes your physical body, your mind will be focused by the binaural brainwave entrainment at 37Hz (Gamma frequencies), to facilitate peak awareness, high levels of perception, transcendental states and feelings of Oneness. So, be sure to use headphones or earbuds to take advantage of the binaural sound waves as you use this meditation to enhance your morning coffee experience and to prepare you for a deeper experience of Life today!

Grab yourself a cup of coffee and find a comfortable place to spend the next few minutes as we dive deep into this relaxing coffee meditation.

As you settle in,

Turn your attention away from any thoughts that may be running through your head and instead focus your attention on the present moment,

Which thankfully includes coffee.

Let's use it to expand our conscious awareness and you will notice during the process an increased feeling of relaxation and well-being.

So let's get started.

With your eyes open,

Begin to notice every detail that you can about this coffee experience right now.

As you pick up your coffee,

Notice how the cup feels in your hands.

Notice things like the smoothness or the texture of the cup.

Notice its temperature and any heat radiating from the cup into your fingers and hands.

Bring the coffee closer to your nose and mouth as you inhale deeply to experience the nuances of the coffee's aroma.

Notice how the smell is intertwined with your breath.

Take a few deep breaths.

Inhale deeply,

With the coffee close enough to lend its aroma to each breath.

Notice the details,

The nuances.

And when you are ready,

When your coffee has cooled enough to finally sip,

Bring your coffee cup to your lips,

Close your eyes,

And with full focus on this moment,

Here and now,

Begin to take sips of your coffee.

How does it taste?

Is it too strong or too weak?

Does it need cream or sugar to align more adequately with the preferences of your taste buds?

Notice any thoughts which arise relating to your experience,

But don't dwell on those thoughts.

Let them go.

Focusing on coffee,

Not thoughts.

Is there anything new,

Unexpected,

Or surprising about its flavor?

Pay attention not just to the flavor,

But also the coffee's warmth in your mouth and throat as you swallow.

Maybe it's too hot to adequately taste yet,

But it doesn't matter.

Simply notice every detail that you can.

As you hold the cup in between sips,

Still keep your focus of attention on your coffee.

How the cup feels in your hands.

How the aroma faintly fills the air nearby.

And of course,

Use your expanding awareness to also include not just the experience of your senses,

Not just any arising thoughts about it,

But also begin to notice your energy level.

No doubt these sips of coffee will boost your energy at some point.

How quickly can your attention notice these energetic effects?

And do you see what is happening here in this coffee meditation?

We are simply using this regular morning ritual to dig deeper into the various dimensions of this present moment,

Here and now.

The coffee makes a convenient focus for turning attention onto the present moment.

Away from whatever thoughts have been consuming your attention.

With the side benefit of boosting your well-being and helping you to relax.

As the rest of your day unfolds,

Recognize that coffee is not needed for you to dive deep into the present moment.

Whatever is in front of you can serve to anchor your focus of attention.

The coffee is simply a common morning ritual for many,

Which makes morning coffee time a good opportunity to practice expanding our awareness of the present moment.

I encourage you,

As these words come to an end,

To continue slowly sipping and deeply experiencing for several minutes.

And as you do so,

Contemplate this.

How will this deeper experience of coffee prepare you for a deeper experience of life today?
