Painful experiences in life actually provides an opportunity for us to grow.
So finding a way to gently and kindly investigate how you respond,
How you feel,
Where it lives in your body,
Enables you to move through and beyond it.
So don't allow these painful experiences to take up residence in your body.
By this I mean that emotions,
The very nature of emotion,
Is that it's energy in motion.
It needs to move.
But often we feel that it might be too painful,
That we might become annihilated by the force of our pain.
So finding a safe space to move towards the emotion provides an opportunity for that energy to shift.
Allow it to gently open your heart and feel the full depth and breadth of it.
You will not be annihilated by the force of this pain.
Instead you will gain a deeper connection to your heart,
To your spirit,
To the inner wisdom which is always there for you.
It can be very challenging to sit with your pain when every fiber of your being is telling you to run,
To distract yourself,
To bury it,
To ignore it,
To drink it away,
Eat it away.
It takes a little bit of courage to turn and face it.
Even a small tiniest ounce of willingness will be enough to start the process of healing.
It may taste a little bitter to start with,
But its taste hides the sweet nectar of healing and love that lays deeper within.
So don't allow the past to be the burden that's weighing you down,
Draining your life force.
Because you are a force of nature.
More wise and powerful than you ever thought possible.
I'm going to end with an ancient prayer called the Gayatri.
And you may like to gently close your eyes and look towards the sun as you say this prayer.
You who is the source of all power,
Whose rays illuminate the world,
Illuminate also my heart,
So that it too can do your work.
