Catastrophizing is when our mind imagines the worst possible outcome to a future event. To combat these thoughts, I've started whispering, "Now" to myself to bring me back. In this meditation, you'll allow your thoughts to wonder, and practice the practice of "now."

Our minds have a way of thinking.

What if an outcome being the worst possible thing we can imagine?

It's called catastrophizing.

With limited knowledge of the future,

We are thinking there's no way the outcome could be positive.

It happens to me often.

Lately,

The way I've combated it is to whisper today,

Or even more recently I've started whispering.

It brings my mind back to the moment.

Back to where I know what's happening.

I know the facts of now.

In this meditation,

Allow your mind to be.

Don't try to control your thoughts.

As you breathe,

Allow them to wonder where they may.

If you begin to step beyond the moment,

Whisper now to yourself.

Throughout,

I'll give you gentle reminders as well.

If you like,

Close your eyes.

Relax your muscles.

And breathe.

And steady in and out.

Now.

Now.

As you prepare to end this meditation,

Consider you've sat with your thoughts for two minutes.

And in those two minutes,

You controlled where your mind took you.

As you continue throughout your day,

Continue whispering this reminder to yourself.

When you feel your mind catastrophizing.

Bring your thoughts back to what you know to be true.

To the facts.

To the now.
