
Step Down Into Slumber
Step down into slumber takes you on a gentle visualization into slumber, traveling from a star to the moon, to a mountain, and to the ocean, eventually drifting into slumber within the center core of your very own internal universe and ending with self-love affirmations. Please note that there is no bell at the end of this meditation so please set a gentle alarm if needed. This meditation is intended as an aid to help you sleep at bedtime.

In a world that never seems to stop,
It's time to stop.
It's time to let go.
It's time to step down from the day.
Step down from the busyness and step down into slumber.
And let's start by taking some really lovely deep breaths.
Making sure the out breath is longer than the in.
Breathing in.
And breathing out.
Breathing in.
And breathing out.
And I wonder if you can imagine standing at the top of the universe.
As high as you can possibly imagine.
Perhaps you can find yourself on a star.
And on this star you feel safe.
Because you are safe.
I can promise you that.
You are completely safe and protected.
Protected by all of your surroundings.
In this moment and in this time it's all about your complete rest and relaxation.
Standing on this star is like standing on smooth glass or a clear diamond.
It's bright and it's beautiful.
And right now all you need to do is allow.
Allow yourself to just wander.
And take each step at a time as you wander down and down.
And step out into comfort and slumber.
And allow slumber to become a part of you.
A part of you.
And this star is incredible.
This light is so gentle.
Almost like the most perfect night light.
And here on this star a staircase.
Going all the way down.
Down from the star.
And you feel so safe and so comfortable that you know you can take these steps down.
And so you do.
You start moving down the steps.
One by one.
Continuing down and down.
Step by step.
Steps made from the star.
And you step down and down.
Letting go of each moment with each step.
And each breath becomes slower and steadier.
And more rhythmic and more restful.
And you let go into deep stillness.
As you step down the steps.
Down the steps.
10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 And find yourself in a deep stillness.
And find yourself on the moon.
And the moon is soft and white.
And here you can see the earth.
It looks so small.
So perfectly formed.
Where every now and then there is a cloud that covers your eye line.
And then it clears.
Normally you watch clouds from below but here you watch them from above.
You're watching the clouds this time from the moon.
And the moon is soft and comforting and comfortable.
And you are safe and secure.
And it's not made from what you think it might be made from.
Right now it's soft like a deep pile carpet where your feet just sink in.
And with each footstep you take it leaves a gentle footprint.
Which slowly disappears as your foot steps forward.
And you can feel the true softness on the soles of your feet.
As you relax more and more.
And feel even more comfortable with each moment that passes and with each moment that you're here.
And as you walk and wander.
And as you wander and walk you see.
That again there is a beautiful staircase.
Made from the moon.
That leads you all the way down and down and down.
And as you drift and float down.
Down each step.
You notice the changes of color that you can see.
Oranges and blues.
Hues of reds and yellows.
Gentle pinks and purples.
So vibrant yet at the same time misty and magical.
And you just step down and down through these colors.
Each step stepping down through a different shade.
Stepping down to ten.
Nine.
Eight.
Seven.
Six.
Five.
Four.
Three.
Two.
And one.
And as you float down into a dream world.
You find yourself moving through a vapor trail.
And you can feel the comfort.
And the gentle breeze as you wander through safely down the stairs.
Through this trail left behind by a plane.
That is now out of sight.
But where was it going?
Was it going to a country that has beautiful ocean fronts?
Or trees so tall that anything below seems small and insignificant?
Will the country be warm or cool?
Well,
However it will be,
You will be relaxed and calm.
With thoughts of peace and slumber.
And drifting down and down into slumber.
And here you travel down yet again.
On parts of the vapor trail that are drifting down.
Step by step safe and secure.
Ten.
Nine.
Eight.
Seven.
Six.
Five.
Four.
Three.
Two.
And one.
And as you pass through and reach the light blue sky you see that you are now within a cloud.
A huge billowing cloud.
That is so immersive.
So soft and comforting.
And you can just safely lay within it.
Notice how secure you are.
How wonderful it feels to be so safe and relaxed.
And as you continue to let go into this deep rest.
Slumber is comfort.
And slumber enables you to take tender care of yourself.
To rest and recuperate.
And as you are within this cloud,
Other clouds surround you.
Like fields and fields of clouds surround.
Shrouded in golds and oranges.
Pinks and purples and silvers.
And you can see what surrounds you below.
But right now you are just so calm.
So comfortable and laying within this cloud.
Feels like you are wrapped up in the most comforting and soft duvet.
And as you are in this cloud,
You can just gently lay.
It feels so good.
That each time now you get into bed.
And wrap yourself around with a cover.
It will remind you of laying in this comfortable,
Big and billowing cloud.
So peaceful and so loving and so caring.
And it holds you here.
It holds you here in love and in kindness.
It holds you here in slumber.
And here you are reminded of your wonder.
The wonder of you.
The beautiful,
Wonderful you.
Who is ready to rest.
And relax and rejuvenate.
As you just step down from the cloud.
Down on its staircase which is made of clouds.
Each step that you go down is a safe and secure puff of cloud.
And as you step out.
9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 And as your feet reach the bottom,
You find yourself on the top of a snow covered mountain.
Cool and bright white.
And have you ever noticed that there is a different silence when snow has fallen?
It's like no other.
It's like everything around you is covered in stillness.
It's a time where the world rests.
The world allows nature to be still.
And you just wander on this snow fallen mountain.
And notice that each breath is so calm.
So rhythmic.
Not even a thought.
You can feel the temperature that surrounds you.
You can sense the lightness.
And all you can hear is stillness.
Stillness of the world.
Stillness of you.
And you just wander.
Hearing each snowy footstep as it passes through and passes over the snow.
And as you wander down you begin to notice.
That new life is appearing.
The snow begins to melt and disappear.
The further down you go there's buttercups and poppies.
Tall green grasses.
Bluebells and orchids.
And surrounding you is life and love.
The gentle sound of birds singing.
The breeze that passes over you.
And all the feelings you feel now.
Becoming a part of you.
Part of your slumber.
Becoming so close.
So close to slumber.
Feeling so good.
And you just wander down and down.
Further down the mountain.
Further and further into slumber.
Stepping down and down.
Ten.
Nine.
Eight.
Seven.
Six.
Five.
Four.
Three.
Two.
And one.
And the beautiful flowers from the mountain continue into a meadow.
Flowers just drifting in the breeze.
Slow and rhythmically.
Like the slow and rhythmic beat of your heart and the breaths that you take.
And there is nothing here.
Nothing here for you to feel.
Nothing here for you to feel.
Nothing here for you to do but allow the space within you to be filled with nothing.
Nothing is required.
Nothing is needed.
Right now nobody needs anything.
Nobody wants anything.
Anyway.
This is time for you.
As you just wander through this beautiful meadow.
Seeing trees in the distance.
The sky above.
And the vapor trail and the clouds.
And the moon and the star which you have drifted down from.
And you feel so good.
And so relaxed.
To enjoy and welcome slumber.
And as you walk through this beautiful meadow.
You find a pond.
And around this pond.
It's surrounded by tall grasses.
Yellow irises.
Water lilies.
Forget-me-nots.
Forget-me-nots.
And it's so wonderful.
And so relaxing and the water is warm.
And upon the water you can see the reflection of the moon.
As the day begins to turn to dusk.
And the lights begin to quieten down.
And the world begins to drift into slumber.
And you just let go.
You let go.
You let go of the day.
Let go of the time.
Let go of the time.
And you just allow yourself to drift.
And within this pond you can see an opening.
Where the water parts and steps go down.
And you can follow them down.
Drifting down and down.
Letting go.
Stepping down.

And find yourself on the shore of an ocean.
The gentle waves roll in and roll out again.
And that sound is so relaxing and so healing and so gentle.
And you can feel the breeze of the ocean.
You can see the sun setting.
And everything you stepped out from is above you.
And you can notice how more relaxed you are now that you're by the ocean.
And just let go.
Welcome slumber.
As you feel the softness of the sand beneath your feet.
The temperature is perfect for you.
So every feeling you want it to be.
Just feeling your whole body and mind let go.
And you can let go.
To complete rest.
And to that rest that is so comfortable.
Where you feel so content.
And balanced.
And relaxed.
And then find yourself wandering on the beach.
Down some more steps.
