Moments big as years is a phrase coined by the poet John Keats.
It suggests that some brief experiences are so vivid and powerful that they remain with us for all of our life,
Every night before bed.
I take a moment to retrieve a positive memory,
Experience,
Or interaction from my past.
This simple practice never fails to relax me and bring me peace.
So in this meditation,
You are going to savor a positive memory of your own.
Welcome to Coached by Nikki Dyer.
Let's begin by allowing your body to settle as you close your eyes,
Let your spine straighten,
And stretch your arms up overhead.
It should feel good,
Creating space in your neck and back,
And let your arms fall into a resting position as you take a big breath in,
And on the out breath,
Let your body start to settle,
Feeling the muscles in your face soften,
And let your breath flow easily and naturally.
And now,
I invite you to take a moment to reminisce,
To actively engage in reliving a happy experience from your past,
Something from your library of memories and joyful experiences that have enriched your life.
Allow yourself to be taken back there,
Encouraging the details to form in your mind,
Almost as if you were looking at a photograph,
Or re-watching an old home movie.
Nostalgia has the power and ability to boost self-esteem,
Because it amplifies positive emotions,
And it can even act as a buffer against negative thoughts.
And in a moment,
I want you to carry the feelings this memory produced for you out into your current reality,
Because memories will always fade with time,
But the power they produce always remains,
And they are always yours for whenever you need them.
Take a deep breath in,
And exhale.
Now there is nothing more for you to do,
No thoughts to be had,
Simply be.
