Good morning.
It is time to get up.
I know it would be lovely to have five more minutes just to keep your eyes shut.
But you've already made a decision by putting this on that it's time to get up.
You're already onto a winner.
Let's start by rolling onto your back if you aren't already on your back.
And start wiggling your toes.
Start wiggling them and scrunch them up tight.
Pull them towards your shins,
Then point them down towards the bottom of the bed.
Let them relax.
Now lift one knee up.
Drag your foot up close to your bum.
Now bring the other one up so you've got your knees up and your feet firmly planted on the bed.
Now just let your knees gently rock side to side,
A slow window wipe.
Feel the release of the tension in your lower back with every movement.
Now move your arms,
Put one out to the side,
Then the other.
Now bring them slowly up and together above your head.
A long,
Full stretch.
Yawn if one comes.
Your body knows what it needs.
Let your arms rest.
Now take a slow breath in through your nose,
All the way down into your belly.
Hold it for just a moment.
And sigh it out through your mouth.
Again.
In.
Hold it.
And out.
One more,
And this time as you breathe in,
Think of one thing that you're grateful for this morning.
Just one.
It can be tiny or it can be big.
And sigh it out.
Now roll onto your side.
Take a moment here.
Roll to the other side if that feels good.
And just come up onto your one elbow.
Now bring your feet out from the duvet.
If it's cold outside,
Be brave.
If it's warm,
It'll be a relief to get the duvet off.
Now put them firmly on the floor.
Feel that surface under your soles.
Sit up tall.
Squeeze your shoulder blades back together.
Lift up your head.
Twist gently to one side,
Back to the other.
Let your spine start waking up ready for the day.
Take another big breath in.
And a long sigh out.
Say it with me.
Today is a good day.
Today is a good day.
This is the day that the Lord has made.
I will rejoice and be glad in it.
You're up.
You're awake.
Go and make it an awesome,
Awe-filled day.
See you soon.
