Birth is such an intimate and unique experience… every woman has their own story about their children’s birth. Some went as planned and others went with plan B, C, D, or something else entirely. Whatever your plan is you can use this meditation to support your preparation for birth.

Begin to settle into this meditation by making yourself as comfortable as possible.

You might find it easier to lie on your side or have some cushions to support you.

You can also place an eye mask or small towel over your eyes and have a light blanket to keep you warm.

Let's begin by letting go,

Letting go of any thoughts,

Feelings,

Tasks that are on your mind.

Take a deep breath in and on your exhale let go of anything that hinders you from fully relaxing in this moment.

Take a deep inhale and exhale.

Take a few more on your own.

You can come back to anything on your mind after this meditation.

This is your time,

Your space to focus on you and the birth of your baby.

Now take a moment to set an intention for your birth.

It might sound something like this,

Birth is natural and easy,

My body knows exactly what to do,

No matter how my baby comes he or she will be healthy.

Choose an intention that resonates deeply with you,

An inner knowing of guidance from today onwards related to your birth.

After this meditation you can write it down and take time each day to affirm it as if it were true.

Now connect with your breath,

The gentle rise and fall of your chest and abdomen as you breathe.

The breath is completely natural and smooth,

You are being breathed by the intelligence of the universe,

There is no forcing the breath,

It just is.

Like the tide that flows in and out of the shore,

Your breath flows in and out of your body.

Now feel the intelligence of this life force beating your heart,

You can't consciously make your heart beat,

But this life force is always flowing through you,

Beats without effort.

And take a moment to imagine your heart and your baby's heart synchronizing together,

This life force pulsing through both of you.

And be aware of your power,

An inner strength,

A woman's strength to grow and birth a baby,

An innate wisdom gifted to you as a woman.

Tap into this intuitive power,

It's primal,

It's life force itself pulsing through you.

It may have been shut down for years until this moment,

Or you may have always felt this intuitive power,

Tap into it,

Feel it pulse viscerally throughout your entire body.

Now listen to any guidance or advice this power has for you,

For your birth,

Your body,

Your well-being.

Take a moment to be completely still and listen.

What messages come from this intuitive guidance in this moment?

Learn to listen to this voice,

This knowing,

You know what feels right for you in this moment and in every moment.

In each moment there is the perfect response to every situation.

You might have a birthing plan now,

But trust that if plans change,

You have this inner wisdom guiding you into that moment.

When we operate from this place of trust,

We are always making the right decisions in every moment.

Fear can stand in the way of having a positive birth experience.

Just notice and welcome any fears or worries you have now.

All is welcome,

Without becoming attached to the fears or going into a story about them.

Just welcome and notice anything that comes up.

This is a safe space for you to work through them.

Accept the fears,

Acknowledge them,

There is no resistance.

Fears can block you from your intuitive guidance.

When we create space for them,

We can inquire into the truth of them and we can also let them go.

And I welcome the sense of empowerment you felt when you listened to your intuitive wisdom as you silently repeat these affirmations.

There is no right or wrong way to give birth.

My mind and body are strong and powerful.

I am directing them to an easy birth.

Birth is a natural and normal event.

Our bodies are built for birth.

My body is built for birth.

My baby and body are working together to bring this baby into the world.

No matter how my baby comes,

I am receiving a gift.

I intuitively know what the right decisions are for myself and my baby.

I can tap into my inner wisdom at any moment and find the right answer for my baby and I.

Billions of women have given birth before me and I carry that wisdom within me.

Now enjoy this stillness.

There is nothing to do,

Nowhere to go.

Simply just the feeling of being connected to your being,

Feeling into the inner wisdom and power of motherhood.

Within us is the knowing of what's best for our bodies and our babies.

Listen to the wisdom and intuition of your body.

Now take a moment as you slowly come back to your body.

Begin to sense the room around you.

Take several deeper abdominal breaths and begin to wriggle your fingers and toes.

Take a full body stretch and move as you need to and then push yourself back up into a seated position.

Taking as long as you need to ground yourself before blinking your eyes open and closed,

Coming back to your wide awake and alert state.
