This meditation is to understand what it means to do nothing.
Start by asking yourself,
What does it mean to me to do nothing?
What does it mean to be still and shut everything off?
No desire for anything to be different.
No urge to be doing anything.
You're not thinking.
Your mind becomes empty and spacious.
You completely let go of trying.
You completely let go of effort.
And what's left behind is a beautiful,
Quiet wakefulness,
Mindfulness,
Awareness.
What does it mean to be doing nothing?
What does it mean to not want anything?
What does it mean to not crave?
Allow your nervous system to become calm.
No need for control.
No need to be doing anything.
Let go of any urge that arises.
Let it pass.
And allow your mind to become totally present,
Aware of thoughts the moment they arise,
Aware of sensations the moment they arise.
Wake alert.
Calm and quiet.
And a realization that after letting go of any need to be doing anything right now,
All that's left behind is a beautiful wakefulness,
An easy awareness,
A calm,
Spacious state of mind.
