Welcome to Daily Insight,
My name is François and in this episode we're going to talk about the future,
The present and the past.
So get ready to expand your perspective and embrace positive change.
It's easy to get caught up in worrying about the future,
But the thing is,
It doesn't actually exist.
This future we get stressed about is just one of the many possibilities.
While it's important to think about the future and make plans for achieving our dreams and facing potential challenges,
It's also crucial not to let our worries about the future limit us in the present.
When we get caught up in thinking about the past,
Reliving old memories or regrets or projecting ourselves into the future and imagining all the things that could go wrong,
We're not fully there in the present moment.
These distractions rob us of the opportunity to fully experience and enjoy the present.
Instead of worrying about the future,
What if you focused on creating a better present?
A present that leads to a more fulfilling life.
I really love this quote that says,
The present is the future of your past.
It is a little bit of a brain teaser,
So let me say that again.
The present is the future of your past.
The thing is,
We set goals for a future self.
The thing is,
We set goals for a future self,
But it is our present self that has to do all the work.
It's easy to do something when the reward is immediate,
But it becomes more challenging to take action when the satisfaction is a future promise.
When you make a decision for a happy and fulfilled future you,
The present you rebels and asks,
What is it for me?
The future you wants to be fit and healthy,
But the present you wants a donut.
The future you wants to be a best-selling author,
But the present you wants to watch the latest episode on Netflix.
If you do something that doesn't give you enough instant gratification,
The present you will eventually have a tantrum and sabotage your success.
The key is to delay gratification in the short term to enjoy higher rewards later,
While creating new ways to experience joy along the way.
So I want you to look at the past for a moment.
What do you wish you had started six months ago?
Okay,
Now based on that,
Six months from now,
What do you wish you had started today?
Thank you for choosing to spend those few minutes with me.
I hope this episode has left you with a powerful takeaway to apply to your life.
