Dr Graham Dexter has spent his whole life as a skilled helper and is now retired. He is an engaging tutor and is passionate about supporting people to make their best lives. One of Graham's key skills is to make the complicated simple, using examples and guided reflection to relate theory to practice. He has a Ph.D in Counselling and Adult Education, and has a Masters in Education. He is also a qualifed mental health nurse, general nurse, a teacher of nurses, a counsellor, coach and therapist.

I found this very helpful. I’ve been thinking about how, if not actually groaning, a conversation laden with descriptions of various aches, pains or other symptoms, rarely makes me feel better, so I’ve been trying to save them to use only in clinical settings where they actually serve a purpose.

This just landed in my lap at the perfect timing. I was just thinking how to go about at achieving a big goal and I listened to your gem. I knew about the prioritisation - that's my recent learning. Nothing gets done without proper and constant prioritisation. But I missed out on the plan itself. Thank you 🙏

This one is a gem. Having fell in the same trap like those nurses when I was younger, I can only attest how much misery it brings. I now try to live in how things are and accept what comes. It is hard at times, but then there is no effort required to change it. Although I used a very similar method to get out of my misery at work - to start, stopped feeding the negative thoughts and beliefs and then looked for positives and tried remembering them and keep them in the forefront of my mind. Then the (gradual) magic happened - the misery left 😊
