If you have lots going on right now,
You can use this meditation to take a moment to just be.
Get comfortable,
Get cozy,
Take a seat or lie down and let's practice doing absolutely nothing.
Nothing needs to happen.
This is not the time for productivity.
Productivity naturally has its place in our lives,
Which is why we actively need to focus on moments of nothingness,
To balance out our drive to get things done.
Where does relaxation fit in in your life?
Where do moments of play fit in?
Where do moments of rest and just napping fit in?
Are those moments useless?
Are you having enough of these moments in your life to balance out your productivity?
I invite you to use this meditation to take a step back.
Close your eyes,
Release any tension in your body.
And imagine you put a chair right in front of you.
Imagine yourself putting your projects,
Your to-do list,
Your planner on that chair.
Look at it and imagine yourself literally taking a step back.
Keep looking at it and take another two steps back.
How does that distance feel?
When do you ever do this in real life?
When do you ever let your projects and plans rest,
Letting it soak,
Letting it process?
Do you think that the moments you are not studying,
Working,
Creating,
Nothing is happening?
Or do you trust that whatever is happening in your brain when you are resting or sleeping is helping your projects,
Your skills?
When you think about it,
Anything that you are putting in your mind needs time to process.
Putting information into your brain is like watering a plant.
When you have a plant and you water it for 8 hours per day,
What do you think will happen?
It will die,
Won't it?
What happens if you let it rest?
You give it some good water and then you let it rest.
You let it grow.
You give it the time and space to grow.
We all need space to grow.
Kids need space to grow.
Adolescents need space to grow.
Plants need space to grow.
Our bodies need space and time to grow.
It is just the way nature works.
Take a minute,
Relax,
Breathe in and know that you need space.
Know that you,
Your mind,
Your skills,
It all needs space to process,
To grow,
To improve,
To expand.
Now what do you do in the meantime,
In that space of nothingness?
Do you enjoy the moment,
Sitting outside,
Watching the sun,
Being mindful?
Do you play?
And what does playing look like?
Do you remember what you used to do as a kid,
That you can start doing again for no important reason at all,
Just to play?
Can you imagine what it looks like to have more playful moments in your life?
And to have moments where you allow yourself to do absolutely nothing.
And tell yourself this affirmation,
There is nowhere I need to be,
There is nothing I need to do.
Let's repeat this together,
There is nowhere I need to be,
There is nothing I need to do.
I want to invite you to just be,
To just take a moment to just be.
Be with yourself,
Be with the moment,
Be with the now,
Be with your body,
Be with the air,
Be with the plants,
Be with the neighbourhood and any noises you might hear.
Be,
Just be.
Be like a dog,
Be like a cat,
Be like any animal that knows how to just be.
Human beings have become human doings.
I guess we're the only species that forgot how to just be.
And how important it is to take moments to just be.
Now I'll give you a minute in silence to just focus on your body,
Focus on the now.
And whenever there's a thought that pops up,
Just notice,
Let it be.
Don't fight it,
Don't push it away.
Look at that thought and think,
Interesting,
This is a thought I'm thinking right now.
This is what's going through my mind today.
Okay,
I'll take it in.
And continue being.
I'll give you a minute to practice just being.
You are making new connections in your brain by training yourself to just be.
Remember,
There is nowhere you need to be.
There is nothing you need to do.
And with that,
My dear achievers,
I'm wishing you a wonderful rest of your day.
