It really is such a deep honor to have even a small amount of time to talk about love.
Because that's really all we're doing here.
We're going to talk about love.
We're going to talk about how to go from what seems like separation from love,
To love.
How we shift from an operating system based in fear to love.
But at the end of the day the conversation is is just one about love.
And that is,
At least in my opinion,
The most beautiful conversation that we could ever really have together.
And it's very possible that that is the only thing that is actually happening between any of us.
And that the major challenge that we all have in our lives is that we have forgotten that.
And so I was thinking about this this morning.
There's so much that I want to share.
But really I was just thinking about my own journey.
And you guys,
I didn't go on this journey for anyone else.
When I was young and I started to look around the world and feel like there were cracks in it.
I didn't go searching for truth or love or God.
Because I wanted to learn how to do this to share it with other people.
I truly just wanted to do this for myself.
I was quite young,
I guess relatively,
When I decided that the world probably wasn't all it was cracked up to be.
And if this thing called enlightenment was true,
I really wanted to know.
So I was about 23 when I decided if enlightenment was a real thing,
Then I was gonna go and figure it out.
Because nothing else made much sense to me in my life.
And so this morning I was really thinking about this and I thought about the journey I went on in pursuit of answering that question,
Who am I,
What is enlightenment,
Is it possible to end suffering?
And I was just this little soul.
At least at the time,
I thought I was this little soul on a quest to figure this out.
And in some ways,
I feel like I've been a relentless scientist through that quest really asking,
You know,
What is this?
Who am I?
Is this the thing that's going to get me there?
Do I have to renounce certain things?
Do I need to become a Hare Krishna?
What diet should I have?
What clothes should I wear?
What country should I live in?
What practice is it?
What is the truth?
And over time,
I think a lot of those questions were answered for me.
And the deeper I went,
I kept coming up against certain belief systems that needed to be released again and again and again and again and again and again.
And that journey eventually led me to the Pure Nondual Teachings.
So today we're going to go through an introduction to Pure Nonduality and Radical Forgiveness.
I understand that many people in here have been on a journey for a long time and have probably studied many different things.
And look,
There's a lot of people in this room right now.
I'm so grateful that you're here.
This takes some trust and curiosity.
So thank you for your trust and curiosity.
And at the same time,
I'm aware that many of you have your own practices,
Your own belief systems,
Things that have helped you.
And I am in no way coming in here to dismiss any of that.
I do not want to dismiss anything that anyone's been through.
But I do want to share my journey.
And I want to share the Nondual perspective and what Radical Forgiveness is.
And I want to potentially show you a map of where you might be,
And you can place everything inside of it.
And so I'm going to start to share a little bit about these different worldviews that people have.
And over time,
They seem to evolve through what could be called a dualistic worldview,
To a semi-nondual worldview,
To a nondual worldview,
To a pure nondual worldview.
It gets more and more subtle the closer we get to pure nonduality.
So if we go all the way back to the beginning and we look at what duality is,
Duality simply means two.
Nondual,
In the simplest sense,
Means not two.
It means one.
Duality,
If somebody has a fundamental belief system in duality,
They fundamentally,
At a subconscious level,
Believe there is two.
Me and what's outside of me.
The human self,
The spiritual self.
Black and white,
Up and down,
Self and other.
And so the fundamental belief system allows for all sorts of experiences to come out of that belief system,
Right?
So that belief system has to start in an idea of separation.
Separate from this moment.
Separate from the oneness of all things.
And that belief in separation leads to a dualistic experience.
Most of humanity right now,
Currently,
Sees reality through a dual perspective.
It is very possible that more than 99% of our current global population sees life through a dual perspective.
So that's quite a few people.
Semi-nondual perspectives are a little bit more open to the possibility that this world isn't what you think it is.
That there's something that's not quite solid about the world.
So let's just say you reach the end of your dual contemplation of life and you go,
I don't know about this.
This world doesn't seem so solid.
I am curious about the interconnectedness of all things.
I don't think there's separation here.
I think that there is more than that.
Or less than that,
Actually.
I think that there's this this field that maybe connects all of us.
And so we enter this state of our contemplation where we're looking for how things fit together.
We're starting to feel like there is a certain oneness to all things.
There's a certain field that connects all of us.
I actually communicate that this stage of the journey is what could be termed mastery of the world.
We start to have a look around at the world.
We want to get down to the the fundamental laws of what we think reality is.
And so we start looking at things like vibration and polarity and consciousness.
And we contemplate whether consciousness is creating reality.
We contemplate whether we are the ones who are projecting our beliefs onto the world.
And so we're starting to look for some evidence of the connection between things.
We're not so convinced that there's a self and another anymore.
So I call this mastery of the world stage.
There's a lot of the New Age spirituality,
Spiritual seekers who are right here.
And then we go a little bit further.
And eventually we can enter what some people term the non-dual teachings.
And this is where we enter Advaita,
Vedanta,
Certain Zen,
Certain Taoist teachings.
And when we enter the non-dual state,
We truly start to feel and know at a fundamental level that it's all one thing.
It's all one thing.
There are some incredibly high level realizations and spiritual experiences that you have in this stage of non-duality.
And this may relieve some of you and it may also be triggering for some of you to hear and that's okay.
But even in this pure non-dual state,
Or pardon me,
Non-dual state,
There are very subtle ideas of separation that can still be sitting at the fundamental level of your belief system.
I call this in some ways the idea that everything is God.
This is the everything is God stage,
Where you may have sat back at some point in your life and realized that there is a witness.
And there is something being witnessed.
And you can have certain spiritual experience where experiences where you realize that you are the witness.
And the witness is the one who is projecting everything that is witnessed.
And so everything starts to actually feel like one.
And this is the stage where you will say everything is part of God.
All the people are part of God.
We're all fragments and we're part of God.
The witness and the witnessed is part of God.
God is consciousness.
God is God is vibration.
God is energy.
It's all me.
And that can be a very very beautiful stage.
And yet if we poke it deeply enough,
A witness and what is witnessed is still true.
And so the pure non-dual teachings come in and say that's not even the ultimate reality.
The ultimate reality is not made up of parts.
It's not made up of duality at all.
It's not made up of a witness and what's witnessed.
God isn't everything.
God is only love.
And anything that is not that never actually happened.
And so there is this subtle but profound shift into a pure non-dual state.
It's not just philosophical in any way shape or form.
It's experiential.
It's something you have to experience.
But when you're there,
Here and you look back at even the subtle ideas that point to potential trueness,
You laugh and say I can't find it.
I can't find it.
It's not here at all.
So I'm going to be pointing to the pure non-dual teachings.
I'm a student of Course in Miracles and this is a pure non-dual text.
I haven't always been a student of Course in Miracles,
Although I picked that book up about 10 years ago.
I kind of read it and then I'll put it down and I went back to mastering the world and I went back to studying non-duality and then it came back into my field.
So first and foremostly,
I'm a student,
You guys.
I'm a student.
And secondly,
I share.
And I think that great teachers are first and foremostly students.
And so we're all students here in many ways.
I said before that 99% of the population thinks in duality.
So that means less than 1% of the population fits in this semi non-dual,
Non-dual and pure non-dual stage.
And it is very possible that less than 0.
1% of the population is practicing and actually contemplating the pure non-dual philosophy.
So it is extremely radical.
And I understand that what I'm going to be sharing with you guys over the next eight sessions is extremely radical.
It's extremely radical.
Personally,
The closer I got to sitting in this innate knowing that love is all there is,
I often felt like the teachings became simpler and simpler and simpler until they got to the most simple answer,
Right?
I think that pure non-duality is unbelievably simple.
It's so simple.
It could literally be summed up in two words.
God is.
And yet the simplicity of that teaching,
Of let's say this realization that I believe we can all have,
Is the one teaching that brings up every single question and all of this resistance and a thousand different but what about questions.
The simplest teaching can bring up all of these questions.
And so if any of you are wondering why I decided to do this,
Why I decided to share eight classes on pure non-duality and radical forgiveness,
It's actually because a lot of the people I work with over a long period of time ask the same questions again and again and again and again and again and again.
And I can see a few people in here who are with me long term and you'll be smiling because you'll hear the same questions come up again and again and again and again.
If love is all there is,
What about suffering?
If love is all there is,
What about all the pain in the world?
If love is all there is,
What about the people who have no money and are starving?
If love is all there is,
Why all the darkness?
Right?
There's a thousand questions that start to rise and I noticed that I was answering the same questions again and again and again and so together with a few other students we sat around and said I think I need to do a fundamental program so we can answer these questions again and again and around about the same time we decided just to make that free for everybody.
Because I do think that what I'm going to share with you over these next eight classes is absolutely life-changing,
If you let it be.
It's absolutely changed my life and to my soul,
My heart,
The innate truth within me,
It feels like the truest truth of all things.
Now that is for me,
For you you're going to have to discover this on your own and I want you to.
This is not just an intellectual pursuit,
This is an experiential journey that requires practice.
So if I actually look back on my journey and I think about a lot of people's journeys,
When I was in this phase of mastering the world,
Wanting to learn about the world,
Who am I,
Why am I here,
What is reality,
What is energy,
What is consciousness,
How do we work with this,
What is vibration and polarity?
As you start to decide,
Right,
Decide to study these things and decide to start applying certain tools and techniques,
Let's say in in terms of meditation or whatever tools and techniques you use to try and understand yourself,
You have to develop or cultivate certain skills.
So what I'm going to say is that there are certain skills that you may have developed through your journey of attempting to understand yourself that are so,
So useful in this awakening journey.
One of them is discipline.
Without discipline it's extremely hard to get into the subconscious,
To find your subconscious beliefs and to sit long enough to help dissolve them.
Discipline is an incredible skill and you do not have to develop that just through being spiritual or doing spiritual things,
If we want to classify spiritual as something,
Right.
I think about the discipline that I cultivated through going to university and studying.
I cultivated a huge amount of discipline,
It's been extremely helpful on my journey.
I see Matt in here and I know that Matt is completely disciplined when it comes to his fitness regime and his health and the way he approaches this part of his life.
And I've seen Matt cultivating discipline,
You know,
We spend some time together and I see you and I'm like,
I know you've cultivated discipline in your life,
What a beautiful skill.
So we cultivate discipline in all sorts of ways and don't think for a second that your life has been a mistake.
There are certain things you may have done in your muggle lives,
Because all of us had a muggle life at some point,
That helped us develop these skills that we can use and take with us.
Discipline been one of them.
Another one that is unbelievably necessary on this journey of awakening is willingness.
It's willingness.
That's not something you say out loud,
That's something that wakes up within you.
A willingness to question,
A willingness to listen,
A willingness to go to the edge of your own understanding and even lay that aside if it doesn't answer all the questions for you.
A willingness to be wrong,
A willingness to jump off the cliff into the unknown,
A willingness to ask for help.
So willingness and discipline are two incredible skills that if you have cultivated them at all throughout your life,
Bring them with you into this next step.
And so whatever you've been through,
Whatever practices that you know you've engaged with,
If you have developed willingness and you have developed discipline and you have developed maybe even a little bit of trust in yourself and something bigger than you,
This is all extremely helpful.
So that's fantastic and I want you to know this because I'm going to be sharing with you a pathway to your enlightenment if you want to choose to follow it and utilize these skills and these practices that I'm going to give you.
But I tell you without discipline,
Without willingness,
Without turning up and actually practicing,
This is going to mean nothing.
Philosophy on its own will not take you to enlightenment.
I think you all know that.
Philosophy on its own will not take you to enlightenment.
In fact,
Intellectual understanding without experience just makes you arrogant in many ways.
And it doesn't free you,
It doesn't bring you to peace,
It doesn't bring you to liberation.
And that's really,
You know,
That's really what this work should be,
Right?
It should be our freedom,
It should be our peace.
If you are here because you just want to gain more knowledge,
Because you have a ego structure that feels safer in knowledge,
This is not going to be too fun for you.
But if you are here because you fundamentally want to get down into the deepest part of your subconscious,
Locate any beliefs of separateness and dissolve them at their core so that you can transition from a belief system rooted in separation to a belief system,
Nope,
Let me say that again,
Transition from a belief system rooted in fear and separation to a knowingness of love.
Not a belief system,
A knowingness of love.
And you are willing to practice,
Then absolutely everyone can do that.
Absolutely everyone can do that.
I have my notes here,
Because I didn't want to miss anything.
I'm doing quite well.
So in A Course in Miracles it says that enlightenment is absolutely possible,
I believe that to be true for every single person who is on this planet,
But we need to understand what enlightenment is,
Or to give it some,
You know,
General description.
So when I use that word,
What I mean is,
I mean that it is absolutely possible to dissolve the belief in separation at its core and wake up,
Remember the truth of oneness.
And that awakening or remembering yourself as one,
Not one plus other,
Just one,
One with love,
One with truth,
Is your liberation,
It's your freedom.
You cannot just believe it's true,
You have to know it,
You have to experience it,
It's experience.
Now to go a little bit deeper with you,
We could go into a meditation right now,
Could take a couple of minutes,
Where I guide you into the present moment,
And step by step by step,
You let go of the thinking mind,
And you enter what feels like an unending field of peace.
This is very possible,
Right?
Oneness,
Peace,
Love,
We can all touch that,
We can touch that in meditation,
It's not a question of very complicated thing to do.
That is by no means the end of the journey.
Just having that experience is by no means the end of the journey.
Because sitting in a felt sense of oneness,
Even for one second,
As beautiful as it is,
Doesn't necessarily dissolve the core belief of separation in the subconscious.
And so we also have to do that.
A Course in Miracles is absolutely adamant about this,
That the pathway to enlightenment requires you to unravel and completely dissolve any belief rooted in separation 100%.
Not 50%,
Not 99%,
100%.
The entire belief system of the ego needs to be completely dismantled.
Following so far?
I lost anyone feeling good?
Amazing.
We need to unravel the belief system of the ego structure 100%.
And the way that we can do that is through a process called radical forgiveness,
Which has absolutely nothing to do,
And hear me when I say this,
Absolutely nothing to do with forgiving somebody outside of you for doing something to you.
That is not what radical forgiveness is,
Not at all.
Radical forgiveness is the art of dissolving the subconscious belief of separation at the core.
Dissolving any,
Any belief of separateness,
Which means that as you awake,
As you awaken to the oneness of yourself,
The forgiveness is,
I forgive you because you never actually did anything to me in truth.
Not I forgive you for doing something illusory to me in an illusory world,
The realization you never did anything to me in truth,
We are all innocent.
And that is what radical forgiveness teaches.
And that's what we're going to do together.
Now,
As I'm saying all of this,
I'm thinking,
Why would somebody want to attempt to dissolve their ego structure at the core?
And I know that brings up a lot of questions,
And I'm going to attempt to answer them over the next eight weeks.
But I've heard a lot of them.
Some people come in and say,
Why on earth would I want to dismantle my ego structure at the core?
There'll be nothing left on the other side.
That sounds like annihilation.
Well,
I like my life.
There's a lot of fun things here.
I like duality.
I like polarity.
I like the drama.
Isn't that what makes it interesting?
Isn't my suffering meaningful?
Doesn't the polarity of life give life all of its meaning and all of its,
You know,
Texture?
And I say,
Absolutely not.
Relief and separation gives you insanity.
And that's about it.
And what's on the other side of that?
Because I know a lot of people have that question.
What's on the other side?
Everything is on the other side.
Absolutely everything is on the other side.
Love.
And it's funny to say on the other side,
Because that makes you think like there's two things and there's not.
So I'm going to use a lot of dual language because it's the only way I can communicate.
But at the end of the day,
The realization is love is all that's here.
So what's on the other side of the dissolution of separation is love.
And that's not boring.
That's not annihilation.
Someone said the other day,
Well,
I'm afraid if I dissolve everything that the ego structure has created,
That I'm going to be alone.
And I'm like,
That's hilarious.
I'm going to end up separate and alone.
I said,
No,
That's exactly what we're dissolving.
The idea of separateness and aloneness.
What's going to be on the other side is that connection that some part of you has always been searching for.
And it's not like you find it,
You realize you never lost it.
You don't find it because that would imply that you could lose it.
You realize it was never lost.
And so what's on the other side of the dissolution of the ego?
Well,
No more fear in reality.
No more need to defend yourself.
No need to fight a complete reorientation of what you think boundaries are.
No more people pleasing.
No more manipulation to try and get what you want.
No more anxiety.
No more feeling lack.
I mean,
When I say suffering in this modern world,
I really mean stress.
I mean,
Not waking up in the morning and immediately feeling anxious about the day.
Because I know that many people wake up feeling anxious,
That's suffering.
No more arguments to try and prove that you're right about something.
I mean,
I understand I'm pointing to a possibility that some people say,
Isn't it going to take me 40 lifetimes to get there?
Well,
Here's an idea.
What if you've already been through those 40 lifetimes and you're here now?
What if you've already done it?
Do you have to keep going through really challenging things to be ready for love?
For whatever reason,
You found yourself into this room,
And we're talking about non duality.
So I don't think somebody who's just beginning their journey ends up in a conversation like this.
And if you accidentally found your way in here,
Which is not possible,
By the way,
But your ego is so far away from contemplating that love is the only thing that is here,
You won't last too long.
And that's okay.
I love you.
You're fine.
So no,
If we dismantle the ego's belief in separation,
You will not die.
There is no annihilation.
It's just the ending of fear.
It's the ending of stress and anxiety,
And attack and defense.
And it's the remembering that you are love.
And love has absolutely nothing to do with insanity.
Love has absolutely nothing to do with insanity.
And so if that is what your heart is yearning for,
And you are at a point in your journey where that yearning and that calling is louder than the fear that arises,
Then this will be a beautiful journey for you.
And truly,
It doesn't need to be painful.
It doesn't need to be painful at all.
It might be a little dismantling at times,
I understand that,
But not painful.
And not dismantling for love.
Love is not scared of remembering itself,
It already knows itself.
It's just that the mental construct that you have used to understand reality might need to be a little dismantled.
And that can feel a bit dismantling.
But love,
If I show you how to anchor into that,
Or you already have a practice,
And you know how to anchor into that,
As the ego structure disappears,
Love just remains absolutely safe here,
Now.
Quite happy for your return to yourself.
So what I'm going to do now is I'm going to lay the foundations for four steps that we're going to be going through again and again and again.
This is the practice,
This is the process.
We're not going to talk for too much longer,
Because we're going to get into an exercise pretty quickly.
Because this needs to be a journey of both intellectually lining your mind up with the truth,
But also experientially feeling that and knowing exactly what to do.
So these are the four steps of radical forgiveness,
Which is a practice.
You can write them down,
We'll go through them again,
You can watch the replay.
Number one,
You need to make what's subconscious,
Conscious.
You need to make what's subconscious,
Conscious.
This is not as challenging as you think it is,
It's actually far easier than you think it is.
The subconscious is presenting itself to you all the time,
All the time.
You may just not know how to read it,
How to see it.
But we need to get into the subconscious,
We need to understand what's happening inside of your psyche.
Now of course,
Subconscious means below conscious awareness.
That seems a little challenging for some people to wrap their heads around,
How do we make the subconscious conscious?
I'm going to show you ways how to do it.
But that is step one.
In A Course in Miracles,
It says the number one way to keep an illusion real,
Or to keep an illusion playing itself out as if it's real,
Is to not look at it.
Hence why we have to make what's subconscious,
Conscious.
We need to turn around,
We need to look at it.
Step two,
I'll lay the steps down,
And then we're going to go into them one by one.
Step two is you need to know how to connect to now.
I don't even like using the word connect anymore because it,
In the way that we perceive language,
Sounds like you could disconnect.
So it's actually better to say that step two is realizing that you're already here.
It's a realization that you already are.
So how do you come into the realization of the present moment?
In A Course in Miracles language,
I'd say,
Call in the Holy Spirit.
But we can define some of these things as we go.
Be here now.
Step two,
Be here now,
Be here now,
Be here now.
Not just in your idea of now,
But actually here now.
Connect to the moment,
Be here now.
Step three is radical forgiveness.
And that is where you are in the present moment,
And you're aware of the present moment,
And you know this is all there is.
And you bring up the beliefs that you saw in the subconscious,
And you hold them in your mind,
And you question,
Can this hold up in truth?
Does this idea,
This subconscious belief,
Have any validity in the truth of now?
And if it doesn't stick,
If it doesn't make sense,
If it is absolute nonsense,
You have a choice to make.
And this is the most radical choice that any human being can make.
And you have to make the choice because,
Free will choice,
You have to decide whether you are going to let love take over your mind and reorient how you see things,
Or if you are going to choose to believe in the lie.
You do not get both.
You do not get both.
When you get down to the absolute center of your subconscious,
And you see that here is the belief in separation,
And I am experiencing the moment,
You have this moment of getting,
You get to choose.
And that's the beauty of creativity.
It's the beauty of your creative mind.
If you want to continue believing in separation,
You can,
Even if it makes no sense at all.
And we're going to experience this together.
To give you an example of this,
When you sit in the moment,
You begin to realize that unworthiness is not here.
It doesn't exist.
You can't find it.
The present moment is not unworthy at all.
But you can choose to believe that you are unworthy,
Even though it doesn't exist now.
It doesn't exist anywhere.
So in your mind,
In your creative mind,
You can leave the truth of the moment,
And you can believe in unworthiness,
And you can go on to create from there.
That's the choice point.
But when you get to see that is truly your choice,
Then you have to decide who your master is.
Is love your master,
Or is fear your master?
You do not get both.
You cannot hold on to the knowingness that you are worthy and choose to believe you're unworthy at the same time.
You can't do it.
You can't do it.
You can't keep your dual mindset,
Your dual belief system,
And shift into a state of non-dual awareness.
Can't have both.
And so step by step,
You're going to realize that surrendering the illusory self,
The fear,
The limited self,
Surrendering that as you line up with truth is actually a beautiful thing to do.
Following?
That's step three.
Radical forgiveness.
There's a number of little exercises that we will do that will help you make this internal shift.
And in that third stage,
Internally,
It can look a little bit like this.
I forgive myself for believing that was ever true.
Whatever belief this is has never been and will never be the truth of what I am or what you are.
In truth,
I have always been now.
This is all there is.
I never left the present moment.
In truth,
I am innocent.
You do that enough times when you get down to the subconscious,
You will dismantle every lie that is there and you will wake up in the beautiful mind of God.
That's why I call this beautiful mind,
By the way,
Because it's a shift from the mind of separation,
Which we could call the ego,
Which is absolutely brilliant at creating nightmares and insanity,
To the beautiful mind of love,
To the beautiful mind of God.
Same thing.
The fourth step,
Which we will not talk about at all today is living awake in this dream.
How do we live in an awakened state when there still seems to be this body and the world and other bodies and life and food and what next?
You know,
The what next questions.
It answers itself,
Actually.
But a lot of people ask about that before they go through the process,
Because they're trying to convince themselves whether they should do this.
On the other side of my awakening,
How do I live?
What should I do?
What will my career be?
What will my motivations be?
Will I still have desires?
Forget all of that stuff.
That comps.
You've got to go through the first three steps to get there.
So we're not going to talk about living awake until class eight.
That's where we're heading.
So step one,
Make the subconscious conscious.
Step two,
Be here now.
Step three,
Radical forgiveness.
Step four,
Living awake.
And I just make it steps because it's easy to follow.
It's really just a process.
I briefly want to talk about the reason that this is so unbelievably complicated for some people to do.
This is this is a good little part of the conversation.
The reason this is so very challenging to do is that a belief system that is rooted in separation,
Which is what I call the ego,
Thinks diametrically,
Or it thinks,
Let's just say like this,
A belief system in separation,
The ego and a belief system sitting in the knowingness of love are diametrically opposed,
They are completely opposite.
They're not even slightly similar,
They're completely opposite.
And so to the ego structure that's based in separation,
Anything that is true in love sounds insane.
It sounds insane.
But to the knowingness of love,
Anything the ego structure thinks is thinks in is nonsense.
I'll give you an example of this.
To the ego that thinks in separation,
The idea that suffering isn't happening is insanity.
The ego will say no fucking way.
Suffering is absolutely happening.
I'm experiencing it.
I've had it in my life.
I can see it in the past.
I'm looking at it in other people.
I can see it in the people around me.
There are wars.
What about Iran?
What about Israel?
What's happening in the Middle East?
What about what's going on in America?
There is obviously suffering.
It is absolutely insane to suggest that suffering isn't even real.
That's how the ego thinks,
Right?
Can you can you follow me in this?
So a belief system that is set in separation will not be able to contemplate at all what the truth is.
Yet if I bring you into the present moment and there is only love here and you can't find anything else and I say suffering doesn't exist,
Love will say of course it never has.
And if you say to love suffering is real,
It will say absolute nonsense.
Never has,
Never will be.
Now that's an interesting conundrum to solve,
Isn't it,
In your own mind?
The ego structure,
Which is based on a belief in separation,
Thinks in insanity.
But it thinks so deeply in insanity that it makes it sound logical.
And people get into debates about this.
But if you shift into the moment of love and you contemplate what the ego thinks is real,
You're going to find so many things disintegrating so fast.
So this is something that I think we need to think about.
And this is something I'm going to offer you right now.
If you are a highly intellectual person,
Hands up if you think you're a highly intellectual person.
How many of you have studied many things?
Just just to get a sense,
Learnt a lot of things,
Smart,
Intelligent,
Yeah,
You know,
A large amount of people in this room.
Then you're going to have to question yourself incredibly deeply on this journey,
Because I'm going to share something with you about intelligence.
If you are an intelligent individual,
And you wake up in a world that makes no sense,
An education system that makes no sense,
An economic system that makes no sense,
A healthcare system that makes no sense,
Looking at relationships that make no sense,
And everybody's saying,
It's all love,
And I love you.
And yet they're being crazy and abusive and manipulative,
And everything starts to not make sense.
And you experience painful things,
And you don't know why.
If you are intelligent,
You are going to try and solve the suffering in the world in yourself,
Right?
Same thing,
You're going to try and make sense of the pain,
You're going to try and make sense of the world.
Why?
How?
What does this mean?
Where does it come from?
And intelligent individuals,
Especially intelligent individuals who have gotten hold of spiritual material,
Are going to make profound meaning out of insanity,
In order to survive.
We're going to do a whole class on this.
All right.
So if you are an intelligent individual,
Who has gotten hold of spiritual teachings,
And you are trying to make sense out of an insane world,
You're going to make very sophisticated world views,
Maps in your mind,
Mental maps of meaning.
And it has been scientifically shown that if somebody can give profound meaning to insanity,
They seem to live a better life.
Viktor Frankl talked about this in Man's Search for Meaning.
He noticed that if people could make meaning out of their suffering and their pain,
It was more likely they would survive.
The second somebody stopped giving meaning to their pain or the suffering of the world,
The more likely it was that they would slip into hopelessness and helplessness and potentially die in the concentration camps.
So he wrote a book called Man's Search for Meaning.
And so if you are intelligent,
And you have gotten hold of spiritual texts,
And you've learned about the laws of life,
Then you've potentially made a lot of meaning out of your suffering.
So the reason that it becomes challenging for a lot of intellectual,
Spiritually advanced people to take the final step,
Is that they have given so much intellectual meaning to their suffering.
And as we make the transition to love,
You have to dismantle all that meaning once again.
Because as you shift to love and you look back,
You realize there is no meaning in suffering,
It is literally just insane.
There's no actual meaning in it.
Insanity is insanity.
And I know that's a big thing to say,
That's why we've got to experience this.
But this is one of the reasons it's challenging for some people to make this transition.
Honestly,
I'm a highly intellectual person,
I feel like I managed life,
The world,
The illusory world,
Because of my intellect for a long time.
But those people I meet now who are less intellectually inclined,
Who are less spiritually full of concepts,
Have an easier time with radical forgiveness.
Because they just have less to give up.
And it's like,
Whatever.
I don't have a complicated map in my mind to disintegrate.
There's less but what about questions,
It's just like,
Belief in separation,
Not real,
Gone,
Love is all there,
It's got it.
Whereas our highly intellectual spiritual beings kick and scream and fight in their illusory mind.
Okay.
The transition into love means the complete disintegration of the ego's insanity.
Now what is that?
Any belief that begins in separation,
And then sprouts out of that is insane.
And you will come to see that it is insane.
What does it mean that it is insane?
It means that it doesn't make sense.
It doesn't make sense.
When you really get down to it,
If you look at your beliefs,
Insanity means it doesn't make sense.
There is no sense to be made out of it.
I'll give you the idea of an insane belief that a lot of people in the spiritual field don't even question because it sounds so logical.
Many people have this belief that God is infinite,
All-knowing,
All-wise,
Love,
Light,
All there is.
But that God,
Somewhere along the way,
Decided it didn't know what it was.
And so it needed to create polarity and then send parts of itself outside of itself to go and experience the opposite of love,
Darkness,
Suffering,
Pain,
So that when they wake up out of polarity and come back to God,
They finally know what it means to be God.
And a lot of people are like,
That makes sense.
That actually gives me a huge amount of meaning.
That gives suffering a huge amount of meaning.
That gives polarity a huge amount of meaning.
It means that all of the darkness that I am going through is so that I can experience the opposite of what I am,
So that when I remember myself,
Ta-da,
I will know myself as God.
That sounds good,
Except there is a fundamental flaw in that belief system.
The fundamental flaw is that you must believe that an all-knowing,
All-illuminated,
Self-luminating God doesn't know itself.
And so the second you contemplate that for long enough,
You're like,
What?
Contradiction in the mind.
There's a contradiction.
Is it possible that God already knows what it is,
Always has,
Always will,
And does not need polarity or suffering to know itself at all?
But if I'm saying this,
For those of you who have believed in that worldview,
Watch what's happening within you.
Oh my God,
What does that mean?
What does that mean about polarity?
What does that mean about suffering?
All the questions of why start coming back.
Then why?
Then why?
Why is there suffering?
Then if when,
If polarity doesn't exist to experience the opposite of myself so that I can know the other side,
Then why do we have polarity?
Who did this?
We're going to answer that question in the next class,
But I'll plant a seed.
It's not because an all-knowing,
Loving God needed to experience the opposite of itself,
It's because God is creative and created us and gave us creative power and we could.
It's a game.
And so in order to make the transition from the belief system separation all the way over to love,
You have to dismantle even ideas like this.
You're holding on?
I see you all.
Just because I was speaking to Adeline yesterday and she said,
You've got to give the snake metaphor,
I'm going to give you the snake metaphor now,
Because it's really helpful.
We have creative power.
I don't think that's something that we have to debate together.
If you think a thought for long enough,
You can create from that thought,
Right?
If you think that you are a failure for long enough,
That belief can interact with your biology,
Create certain emotional experiences,
Create certain behaviors,
And then you can go out and play that out in the world and then life will mirror that belief.
That's creativity.
That's creativity right there.
So I don't think we need to debate that we are creative.
There's so much creativity.
That is what we are.
We are pure creativity.
Now what we do with that creativity has incredible repercussions.
So let me give you a creative idea.
This is not my own parable,
This is a Zen parable,
But it's a really helpful one to understand what we can do with our creativity.
So imagine one day you go outside and it's nighttime and there is a rope on the ground,
But you can't see it and you mistake the rope for a snake.
And so what your creativity has done is projected the idea of a snake onto the rope.
Now if you think that snake,
That rope is a snake,
You are going to respond to it like it is a snake.
Can you imagine that?
Your entire belief structure,
Biology,
Can go into a fight,
Flight,
Freeze reaction.
Fear can arise.
And let's say that you freeze and you call your friend because that's all you can do and you're like,
Oh my god,
There's a snake here,
I can't move,
Please come and help me.
And then your friend comes in and they misinterpret the rope for a snake as well.
And now you're both standing there and your friend is like,
Oh my god,
There's a snake.
And you're like,
I know there's a snake.
And now you're both scared.
And now you're talking together about how to resolve the problem of a snake.
Can you see that we're slowly to get getting towards a little problem here?
And your friend's really scared too,
And he doesn't know what to do.
So he calls his friends,
And they come in,
And it's really dark,
And they convince everybody this is a snake.
And now we've got 10 people standing around,
And everybody's scared of a snake.
And they're all now talking with each other,
What should we do?
How do we resolve this?
What does it mean?
This is dangerous,
How do we kill it?
We've got a little group of people standing around.
And they're creating such a ruckus that other people want to know what's going on.
So more people come,
But they can't even see the rope now.
And they're just asking,
What's going on?
And someone turns around and says,
There is a snake here.
And they're like,
Really?
Oh god,
Well,
We'll tell everybody else.
And so there's this kind of ripple effect of people telling people that there is a snake.
And some people are really terrified of snakes,
And they don't freeze,
They run.
So now we've got people running away from a snake that they've never even seen,
Because somebody else told them it was there.
And they're running because they're terrified.
And because the mind is so creative,
As they're running,
Their mind,
For some reason,
Thinks,
Well,
What if that snake started to move?
Maybe they had babies,
And now it's chasing me.
And so they're running from an imaginary snake that's had babies.
And other people see the person running,
And they're obviously afraid.
And they're like,
Why are you running?
They're like,
Snakes,
Many of them chasing us,
Let's go.
And now thousands of people are running.
This is the current state of humanity.
99% of people,
Probably more,
Are acting like this.
They're afraid of something,
But they don't even know what they're afraid of.
But of course,
The problem here isn't just about being afraid of something that doesn't exist.
It's about a fundamental flaw in our thinking around how to free ourselves.
Because for those people who are afraid of a snake that doesn't exist,
They are using all their time and energy to contemplate,
How do we kill the snake?
And that must be the way to our happiness.
And so every modality,
Every tool,
Every technique that they're entering into every discussion is about how do we get rid of this?
How do we get rid of this snake?
And then we go on a little journey.
And we've been doing this for many incarnations and thousands of years where we're trying to figure out what the snake is and how to kill it.
And I think I've got time to do this.
I'm going to share this as well,
Because these are all the fundamentals.
90 minutes going to go so fast.
The snake in many people's minds is their suffering,
Right?
What happened when you perceive that there was a snake?
Fear.
Fear arose.
And then let's just say that fear is the overarching name for any negative emotion.
So you've been triggered by something.
In this story,
It's a snake.
And you feel that trigger in your body.
And so that arises.
And it is not an incorrect thing to want to resolve fear and all of its derivatives,
Shame,
Guilt,
Stress,
Anxiety,
Unworthiness,
All of this stuff,
Right?
So this is the snake,
This emotional charge.
Now,
How many of you feel negative emotions sometimes and you don't know what to do with them?
How many of you still feel like you feel stress,
Anxiety,
Fear,
Limitation,
Lack?
If we put that into the category of suffering,
Anyone feel that still?
Maybe some people don't.
But look,
I just I want you to see it's universal.
So let's imagine now you guys that we all put that in the center.
Let's just put our problem,
Our problem together in the center,
These emotions that arise,
These triggers that arise,
These feelings of fear.
So look at everybody here.
As I said,
I see you all.
Imagine putting all of that in the middle.
And let's sit together as a collective and ask the question,
How do we resolve this?
That's our snake.
Now,
Some people over time,
And their spiritual journey said,
Well,
I've come across some spiritual teachings,
And I have learned that that is an illusion and transcendence.
That's the way.
So we are going to try and separate in our mind,
Ourselves from that snake,
And then we're going to ignore it.
Unfortunately,
This is not really what transcendence is.
Anything that psychologically causes you to reject,
Suppress,
Turn away from or run away from what you think is real,
Only makes it more real.
Think about the person running away from the snake.
Now there's no snake there,
But they think the snake is there and they're running.
They don't want to look at it.
They don't want to face it.
They're not questioning it.
They're running.
And as they're running,
What's happening is they're making it more real in their mind.
They're in fear.
Now we did this for a long time as a humanity.
Many people tried the transcendence thing.
They didn't have the right tools or techniques or understanding.
So they were trying to split in their mind,
This idea from a human experience and a spiritual experience.
And they were trying to lift up above the human experience and completely reject it.
Now,
If you are doing this in a psychological way that mirrors running away from a snake that you think is real,
You are actually making the illusion more real.
Over time,
People realized this doesn't fucking work.
I don't like it.
It's not working.
I'm not into it.
And because of the law of polarity,
What we did in our mind is we pendulum swung from pushing something away to the answer must be to accept it.
So we turn around as a group and we look at the emotions in the middle.
We look at our snake that we're creating.
And the collective says,
Right,
No longer about transcendence.
That doesn't work.
It is now time to accept.
Maybe acceptance is the answer.
Now you ready?
How many of you are in the new age movement?
Because I'm about to push up against some things here.
It's my favorite conversation right now.
So we get into a phase of our development where we say it's all about acceptance,
Not denial,
No more denial.
It's all about acceptance.
Into the feelings we go.
Because what it looks like is that these are emotions that are arising.
These are feelings that are rising.
And it doesn't work to suppress the feelings.
Time to feel.
Time to feel.
Time to feel.
And a whole movement begins.
Wrapped around a little story that rhymes.
People like rhymes.
Which says the healing is in the feeling.
So good for marketing.
So good for marketing.
Wonderful.
Healing is in the feeling.
Time to feel.
So we get together,
You guys.
Imagine this.
We're all sitting here.
Those feelings are in the middle.
And there's some sort of guide.
Not me.
I'll just be in the circle with you.
And the guide says,
All right,
Everybody,
You're safe to feel.
And we're going to go through a process where we calm your mind.
And we allow those feelings to start arising.
And you're allowed to feel them.
Anyone been in a circle or ceremony or plant medicine,
Whatever,
Where everybody's starting to feel their emotions.
And they're screaming.
And there's yelling.
And there's crying.
And it's good.
Everyone's into it.
Can I just see a show of hands of who's been in those spaces?
I'm speaking from experience.
I was an explorer.
I wanted to go in.
I wanted to see.
I wanted to test.
So let's do it.
We get into a circle together.
And we find a way to sit in a safe place.
And we start to let those emotions come up.
And up they come.
There it is.
There's the sadness.
There's the grief.
There's the anger.
There's the rage.
There's the fear.
And everybody starts feeling.
OK,
So what happens?
Well,
Nervous system goes through its process.
We get activated if we're in a safe place.
We may go through the process of letting ourself feel these what trauma specialists would potentially call frozen emotions.
And we're feeling.
And the screaming comes.
And the crying comes.
And the sadness comes.
And the deep crying.
And everybody's like,
Yeah,
We're doing it.
We're healing.
We're healing.
We're healing.
And because of the law of polarity,
If you cry for long enough,
You'll eventually start laughing.
And if you scream for long enough,
You'll eventually feel relief for a moment.
Yeah?
So we do this for half an hour,
An hour,
10 minutes.
We're vomiting.
We're purging.
We're doing all this stuff.
And session ends.
Because of all of the movement,
Eventually,
There's a bit of a relaxation.
And everyone hugs.
And everyone's crying and saying,
What an amazing thing.
And I feel so connected.
And how beautiful.
And then we leave the room.
And we go get lunch.
And then we get a cappuccino.
And then we go home.
And that night's good.
And the next morning,
We wake up.
And life starts again.
And our partner turns up.
And work turns up.
And boom.
Triggered again.
Triggered again.
Triggered again.
Oh,
My God.
I've been triggered by the same thing.
Science is actually now starting to show that catharsis on its own is not producing long-term change.
And so this is where I'm going say something radical for some people.
And it's because the reason it's not working is because the healing is not in the feeling.
Because the cause of the problem is not in the body.
This is not a nervous system dysregulation problem on its own.
Right?
So it's not in the body.
It's not in the nervous system.
That is a secondary effect.
But it's not touching cause.
It's touching symptoms.
And if you go to the doctor and you're sick,
And the expression of that is cancer,
Cutting out the cancer does not touch the cause.
It is the same with this movement of just feeling.
We're still playing at the level of symptom.
Now,
If somebody knows what's actually happening when they're working with the body,
They can get to the cause,
Resolve it there,
And actually make a shift in a cathartic space.
But most people have no idea what's actually happening.
So we've pendulum swung from we can't reject it all the way into the we must accept it.
And so we think acceptance means feeling fully and just doing going through this cathartic process.
But from experience,
How many of you have gone through many cathartic processes and you're not free yet?
What's the problem with accepting the snake?
Still making it real.
Still making it real.
So we can't deny it.
But only accepting it is also making it real.
Better than denial.
It's a good step.
But there's a problem,
Isn't there?
Making the subconscious conscious is step one.
How do we do that?
Emotion comes up.
We put it in the middle.
We realize we cannot reject it.
That doesn't work.
But just the feeling and the processing at the level of emotion alone is not doing it either.
So there must be something more we haven't got to the subconscious story.
So where does the fear come from?
Where does the negative emotion come from?
Where does the trigger come from?
When you look at the snake on the ground and you're triggered,
Where does it come from?
It comes from a belief.
A subconscious belief.
An idea that you're projecting onto reality.
The fear that you felt when you saw an imaginary snake was not the cause.
The snake wasn't even the cause because it's not there.
Your projection of a belief in the snake caused the reaction in the body.
So what does that mean?
When emotions arise,
They are information.
We cannot deny them.
We do not want to suppress them.
We do not want to transcend them.
We don't even want to use the idea that life is an illusion to get out of it because that's skipping the process.
You can't do that.
This is a process.
So the emotions are here.
The trigger is here.
You can move into it and feel it.
This is a good thing but you can't stop there.
You have to ask yourself,
Where do I feel this?
Get into it and let the story start coming out of you.
Why do I feel this?
Why do I feel this?
I feel this because there's a snake.
Why are you scared of the snake?
Because I think it's going to kill me.
Why is that scary?
Because I think I'm going to die.
What's the worst thing about death?
Well I don't want to cease existing.
What's the worst thing about ceasing existing?
I'll be alone.
What's the worst thing about being alone?
There's a void and there's disconnection and it's cold.
Story,
Story,
Story,
Story.
There are stories underneath our negative emotions.
A huge amount of them.
So we must go through the body.
You see I'm not saying reject the experience that's happening.
I'm also not going to make this snake real and I'm not going to say that healing is happening in the body because the body is part of the illusion.
But I'm going to say you can absolutely use it.
So step one is to get to the core of the subconscious and we go through the body to get there.
Right?
There's other ways to do this.
You do it in meditation but being triggered,
Feeling emotions,
Letting that come up,
That's information that you can use to dig down into the subconscious and you're going to find that every story that comes from a negative emotional experience is based in an idea of separation.
So we trace it down until you go oh my god the reason I'm afraid is I believe I'm separate.
When you get to the belief in separation and the other little subconscious beliefs that you believe that are sitting on top of it,
Step one is complete.
Make the subconscious conscious.
You guys following?
You good?
Yeah?
Make the subconscious conscious.
After we do that,
We connect.
We remember our connection and then we hold those beliefs that we've just brought up to the surface in the light of the moment and we start to disprove them.
And so what I'm going to do with you now is I'm going to begin an exercise with you to start to do this so we can actually experience it together because we've laid enough of the foundations now.
I think you understand where we're heading,
Why we're heading there,
What we have to do,
We've got a process.
So let's pick a universal belief.
Well actually we're going to begin today with the belief of separation.
So I'm separate.
Some of you don't think you'd believe this but your actions and your reactions in life prove that subconsciously that you do.
So I'm just going to throw up a few universal beliefs we're going to play with all together.
I'm separate being one.
And do you mind if I challenge you with a controversial belief?
Suffering is real.
I'm going to write them down because you're going to,
We're going to practice this together.
Suffering is real.
And I'm also going to throw in I'm unworthy.
We're just going to play with these three okay.
I'm separate.
Suffering is real.
I'm unworthy.
Let's imagine that together we have dug down into the core of your subconscious and these beliefs have come up.
We're not going to do that today because it takes some time but let's just say that this has come up.
I know these are some of the more universal ideas that we all have in our subconscious.
We're going to move now to step two and I'm going to give you a practice that you're going to be practicing before we do our next class together.
And this is a way to be here.
It's not as complicated as you think.
I'm going to ask you,
Are you here?
And I want all of you to sit and just be here with me and I want to,
I'm literally asking you,
I'm looking at you and I'm asking you,
Are you here?
See if you can answer that for yourself right.
Are you here?
And if you are not convinced that you are here,
Try and stop existing now.
Just try.
Close your eyes,
Squeeze,
Get out of here,
Die,
Disappear,
Disintegrate,
Stop being.
Don't listen to my words now,
Do it.
Awakening is a practice.
And notice that the more you try to stop being here,
Stop existing,
Your existence might begin to prove itself to you,
Beyond a shadow of a doubt.
Try harder.
Do you have any evidence whatsoever at all that you can cease to exist?
Evidence.
I don't mean your thoughts,
I mean evidence.
Because you might say,
Well,
Maybe when I die,
I'll cease to exist.
You don't have evidence of that.
That's just an idea that you don't have any evidence of because you're here.
Following?
Now try to find where your existence begins.
Go and find a geographic location,
Somewhere that I could pin on Google Maps,
And we could all go there together and say,
Oh,
There is where your existence is.
Is there a beginning?
Or is everywhere you go,
Just more evidence that you are here?
Try and find an ending.
Somewhere your existence stops.
And if you were to go onto the other side of that,
There would be something else that's not your existence.
Try and find an ending.
This has to be experiential.
No beginning,
No ending.
I want you to tune in now and ask,
Is your existence an age?
Seven,
70,
7,
321?
Or ageless?
Is it a religion?
Christian,
Buddhist,
Baha'i,
Atheist?
None of that.
None of that exists in your existence now.
Breathe.
Relax.
Don't squeeze too hard anymore.
Is your existence a belief or something you know?
A belief can be debated.
But if you try and stop existing and have no evidence that you can cease to be,
Then is it possible that your existence is something you just know?
Can I take it away from you?
Can I make it smaller or bigger?
Your existence,
Pure.
Awareness.
Is it a body?
Notice that it cannot be a body because a body seems to begin and end.
Just feel.
Just feel.
It has to be experiential.
Is your existence that is here right now that you cannot seem to get rid of,
Is it physical at all?
You might think it's physical but what is the experience of existence itself?
Now there's many of you in the room here so you're gonna have to explore for yourself and just truly follow my words.
No beginning,
No ending.
No age,
No gender.
Cannot make it bigger nor smaller.
Is there somewhere your existence stops and mine begins?
Or is it one?
Close your eyes and I want you to feel that.
Just see if you can actually feel the eternity,
The eternality of now.
No beginning,
No ending.
As you begin to truly feel it,
Try and end it again.
Try and stop it.
Tune into it and see does it have levels?
Does existence itself have levels?
You might be able to touch that there are no levels here.
There's no low conscious level and high conscious level.
There's no levels to now.
Is your existence stressed?
Now even if you imagine something scary that creates what feels like stress in the nervous system,
Does it affect existence itself or does existence remain as it is?
So some people say,
Oh but you know it's peaceful now but when I'm scared it's scared.
I say no,
Existence isn't scared.
You're just hallucinating a dream of fear but it's not happening in the now.
Okay I'm just pointing you guys.
We're not quite there yet.
We're just feeling,
Becoming aware of.
Take a big deep breath,
Stay focused.
Remember I said this takes a bit of focus,
Some discipline.
Noticing that now is all there is.
Can you find past in the now?
Whatever seemed to happen in the past,
Is it happening now?
Maybe the past doesn't even touch this.
Now I want you to ask yourself internally,
Just internally,
It's a deep internal knowing,
Contemplation.
If the only thing that you can truly find with evidence is now,
Existence itself,
Is it possible that love and this moment are the same thing?
I mean where else would love be if not in truth?
So ask internally,
Ask the innate intelligence that is the present moment,
Is existence and love the same thing?
And does that mean that whatever God is,
If God is love and love is now,
That God and love and now are the same thing?
Is there separation between now,
Love,
God?
A few more questions just for you to totally settle here.
Ask,
Does love know who and what I am in truth?
Is it already aware of who and what it is,
What it is?
And if you are sitting here,
Ask for love,
Truth,
God,
Holy Spirit,
Whatever name you want to give it,
To help you with this next step.
Call on truth to help you with this next step and say,
All right,
If this is what there is in truth,
Help guide my thoughts in this next step.
And so what I'm going to have you do now is I'm going to have you bring up the belief,
The idea,
I am separate.
And I want you to hold that idea up in the present moment and ask love,
The holy instant of now,
Is separation even possible?
Is it even possible?
Can you find separation?
Go find it,
Go look for it,
Actually be an explorer.
Where is it?
Where is separation?
If the only evidence you have when you actually are here is here-ness and love,
Then where is separation?
If you say,
Well,
It's an idea in my mind,
Where is that?
Go find it.
Is it real?
This is your first exercise for the next few days,
Weeks,
Before next class.
This is what we're doing.
Sit here,
I'm going to ask you another one,
Feel,
Feel,
Feel.
In the present moment,
Is the present moment,
Is the existence,
Love itself,
Suffering?
I asked if I could challenge you,
Is love suffering?
This is not an intellectual debate at this level,
I'm asking you to explore,
Is your existence suffering?
Has it ever suffered?
Don't worry,
It will bring up a lot of but what about questions,
I'm just asking you to contemplate,
Hold up the idea of suffering in the truth of this eternal moment and test it for yourself.
Alongside the idea that you are unworthy,
Let's just bring up unworthiness,
Is the present moment of love and truth and all there is,
The only thing you can actually prove to be here,
Is it unworthy?
Stay focused,
Just got a few more minutes.
And so what you're doing here is you're sitting and you're deeply contemplating a choice point.
And the next choice is who are you?
Are you the holy eternal now,
Love,
All there is?
Or are you separate?
Or are you unworthy?
Or are you your suffering?
And that's a choice you have to decide for yourself.
The ego will never make these choices,
Never,
Ever,
Ever.
Because if you sit in the present moment,
Where is the ego?
The ego is a belief in separation,
So where is separation?
Student went to a teacher once and said,
Master,
Master,
Please take my ego from me.
And the master said,
I'll make you a deal.
If you can give it to me,
I'll take it.
So to realize the reason that a belief system seeped in separation cannot help you decide to think in love is because love is the ending of the illusion.
So you have to experience this and then make a choice from the experience,
Who are you?
Now if you are going to choose love to be your guide from here on,
The next classes are going to be a wonderful adventure.
If you decide you want to stay in suffering and separation and keep your limited stories,
Then one of the things I say to people is at least be consistent.
Choose fear and don't flip-flop between the two.
Just go and be consistent.
Choose the delusion and have fun,
If you think that's fun.
But if love is going to be your master,
Make a choice and we can continue on this journey together.
As you,
As we've only got a few more minutes here,
As you open your eyes again,
One of the practices I do with people is begin to move your fingers and toes and open your eyes,
But do not leave the truth.
You don't have to open your eyes and be like,
Oh,
Separate again.
No,
There's no separation.
The truth remains.
So practice opening your eyes and looking around without leaving this feeling of now,
This knowing of now.
Practice.
Wiggle your toes and fingers.
It doesn't change anything to open your eyes.
And so just to round this out in this last kind of two minutes,
When we project ideas onto ourselves and others that are based in a belief in separation,
We will create snakes in our mind and then we will respond to them as if they're real.
If you believe that you are less than,
Unworthy,
Not good enough,
Something separate from love,
If you perceive that other people are less than the truth of what they are,
Then you will respond to yourself and others as if we're snakes.
You will always be in a state of defense and attack and trying to figure out an illusory world that doesn't exist.
So what we need to do is we need to go to the cause,
The belief in separation,
That made it possible for us to misperceive in the first place and believe that we were something that we were not,
To believe other people are something they're not,
And we have to begin to resolve that illusion,
That belief at the core,
So that we will see clearly who and what we are.
We do not reject an illusion but we cannot attach and accept it either,
We must go straight through the middle to the core.
Dissolve the belief in separation,
Allow our belief system to line up in truth and then we can go from there.
So what I'm going to just leave with you is that when you make the choice to be what you actually are,
The I am belief at the core becomes I am this,
I am love,
Right,
I am,
No more I am separate,
Just I am.
There's either love or fear,
You've only got two choices,
So you have to make that choice first,
Are you separate or are you one?
I am one with love,
I am,
I am.
If that is your fundamental belief system,
The next 10,
000 beliefs that start to set themselves back up in your psyche need to be in alignment with that.
If they contradict each other,
If you know that you are one and you have a belief of unworthiness,
We have a contradiction that will cause chaos.
If you know that you are this moment and that's all there is,
Then every belief that comes downstream of that must hold up in that.
I am here,
This is all there is,
We are one.
And there's many others,
This is just the beginning,
This is just laying the foundations,
That will then interact with biology,
Even though biology is an illusion,
Beliefs interact with biology,
That changes the way that you interact,
That changes the way that you feel,
That changes the radiance that you share,
That changes your behavior in the world,
So it becomes extremely practical.
So to bring this back to the beginning,
I teach non-duality,
Which is basically the idea that love is all there is.
If you sit in these contemplations of the present moment,
You'll start to experience what else is there.
So pure non-duality says this is all there is,
It's all there's ever been.
Practice of radical forgiveness takes us through this process of bringing the subconscious to the surface,
Connecting with the truth of what we are,
Dismantling the illusion at the core,
So that we can live in alignment with a belief system,
The knowingness of the beautiful mind of God,
That's how I put it.
Shift from an operating system in fear to love,
Okay?
And that's what we're doing here.
And so I've given us an overview for the next eight classes and if this feels like it's going to be a path for you,
Then let's do it.
What else is there to do?
You're not going to learn anything,
You're going to unlearn things.
I'm not teaching you anything,
I'm helping you remember yourself,
That's all we can do,
Because you don't have to master illusion anymore,
There's nothing to master.
If you're in a dream and you finally realize it's a dream,
You don't need to master the dream,
You want to wake up.
So this is an alarm clock.
Next week,
Or the week after,
Whenever I do the next class,
We're going to go into the split that never happened,
We're going to look at the fact that only love is here,
We're going to go deeply into how to work with reality,
With life,
With what looks like the world is a mirror to find subconscious beliefs,
We're going to have a look more deeply at emotions and how to work with emotions to get into the subconscious,
We're going to ask a lot about the body question,
We're going to go through this forgiveness revolution that we're going through,
If you wish to enter it and be a leading pioneer of it,
And we're going to look at living awake in a dream,
That's what we're doing.
So we have reached the 90 minute mark here,
Which is a small miracle in and of itself.
Hilariously,
The title of this call is miracles,
Not manifestation.
And I can kind of now that I've said all of that help you understand what I mean.
When the ego thinks in separation,
It tries to manifest,
It feels like it lacks something,
And then it tries to manifest what it thinks it wants to fill the hole that it feels that it has.
And you can use individual willpower,
The idea of an individual will to do that,
You can try and bend the laws of reality,
Cause and effect,
Vibration,
Polarity,
To try and get what you think you want,
Which if it's coming from a belief in separation,
Is always going to be validation,
Connection,
Safety,
Security,
Control,
It's not very creative.
And we can bend the laws of a dream to try and manipulate it to get what we think we want,
But it will always leave you wanting.
I do not teach manifestation in that way.
But if you make the shift from a belief system in fear to love,
And love becomes your operating system,
What naturally emanates from you is miracles.
You don't have to create anything with an individual will,
You don't have to push,
You don't have to try.
You are now in alignment with the flow of love itself.
There is nothing to get,
You're whole,
You're complete,
You're full,
There is only space to give.
And through that fully realigned operating system with love,
Miracles become your natural state.
And that's what's so beautiful,
Miracles not manifestation,
Miracles become your natural state of being,
You don't even have to do anything,
You just enjoy.
And you become a radiating light,
A beacon,
Alarm clock for others.
It takes some practice,
Might not happen all at once.
But if you're committed,
I'm absolutely sure,
There is not a doubt in my,
In myself at all,
That anyone can wake up.
And we can do it this lifetime,
I don't think it's going to take 40 more lifetimes,
That's up to you,
We can do it maybe.
Some solid practice over a little bit of time.
Okay.
So I'm going to ask,
I'm going to stick around for the next 20,
20 or so minutes.
Thank you.
I'm seeing all these love hearts on the screen.
It's really beautiful.
Vanessa,
I don't know if people have written anything in the chat box,
Or if there's any questions that have come up.
I'm going to open the next 20 or so minutes for any questions.
Does anyone want to ask anything?
You can put it in the chat box,
Vanessa can look at it and I can bring you off mute.
I'm not going to do a demonstration today,
Because we are already at time.
We'll do that in the next class.
But if any questions are coming up,
I would be so happy to spend some time answering them.
Even if that was just if it just resonated,
You know,
Like,
Yeah,
Cool.
I got it.
Yay.
This sounds like something I can I can I can do I can wrap my head around.
It's the first time ever,
You guys,
The first time ever that I have done a whole teaching without bringing people off mute.
It's also it's a new thing.
But uh,
Holly?
Yes.
Maz has a question.
I'll bring her up.
Beautiful.
Is that okay with you,
Maz?
Where are you?
Are you?
You don't have to come on screen,
But you can if you want.
It would be lovely to see you.
Okay,
This is cool.
I'm learning how to Can you if I do this?
Can you unmute yourself?
Hello?
There you are.
Hello.
Hi,
Thank you so much.
Wow.
Okay.
So I'm just hung up on the fact that if we're looking at it,
And there's like two frames of love,
And then not love,
Like is duality.
Right?
Oh,
But then now as I say it out loud,
I'm like,
Oh,
But then maybe the not love then becomes love,
But then,
And it's all one,
But then isn't,
Couldn't it just all be separate?
Also?
Like,
Couldn't it just be the opposite?
Like,
There's some,
It just feels like there's something else.
There's like another layer.
I've got to try and understand your your thinking fast to understand what's going on.
So see if you can pinpoint the confusion that you have.
Yeah,
It's working itself out as I'm talking about it.
But I just I'm wondering,
Like,
If,
If the framework is that there is love,
And then not love,
But it's all love,
That into of itself is a dual framework.
Yeah,
So it's hard for me to,
Like,
Then just erase one of them,
The separateness or the other.
So that love becomes the all.
So this is,
This is that shift between kind of a non dual and a pure non dual framework.
There's a shift here.
I don't want to categorize these things to completely,
It's just,
There's a shift,
Right?
If I ask if you're here,
And you tune into your existence,
What does that feel like?
Like,
When I asked you,
Are you here,
Stop existing?
Where did you get to with that?
Definitely,
Like,
Almost like the layers of an onion,
Like an expanding experience.
Okay.
Are you here now?
Yes,
I'll keep it nice and pointed.
Are you here?
Yes.
Can you stop existing?
No.
Where does your existence begin and end?
Infinite.
Can you find a beginning or an ending?
Not really.
Not really or not at all?
No.
In experience,
In your experience?
Like my body wants to be the end,
But then I can feel the space in between cells,
And there's a soft,
Softening.
Okay,
So the body doesn't want anything,
The mind wants something,
The body doesn't do anything,
It's just the mirror of the mind.
So just stay in the actual experience.
It's beautiful,
Even with the background noise,
Because it doesn't,
No,
It doesn't matter,
You see.
I'm just aware that we can hear it,
But it doesn't matter.
The noise isn't affecting your existence.
Can you feel that?
Is your existence stressed out?
No.
Deep,
Deep down,
No.
What about up,
Up,
Up high?
A little bit.
Keep exploring this space,
Because it will answer the question that you have about not love.
You just have to keep doing this exercise for a little bit of time.
We're going to keep doing it,
But keep exploring this exercise,
And go and look for where not love is.
Go and see if you can find not love.
Okay,
Just for now,
Right?
I think that's all we'll do today,
Because I just want you to practice that.
What I will say,
I'll unmute you,
What I will say to everybody is that there is an important step in which we acknowledge the illusion,
Right?
We acknowledge the snake that we have projected into the world.
With that little story,
It's so helpful to see all the stages of this.
We projected a false idea onto a rope.
If we run away from that,
We make it real.
If we over-identify with it,
We make it real.
But it doesn't mean that we shouldn't look at the snake and realize what we've done.
So in bringing up this idea of not love,
Or the illusion,
Or suffering,
We have to bring it up.
We have to look at it.
But then we have to deeply question,
Is it actually here?
Is it actually real?
We don't want to jump that step,
Because then we could go into denial.
So we have to bring up not love.
What is not love?
Fear.
We have to bring up fear.
Where does fear come from?
An idea.
What idea?
Well,
A thousand ideas.
What's the core idea?
Separateness.
I have to be separate from love to actually feel fear,
Psychological fear.
So you've got to be able to bring up all of those not love thoughts,
And then you've got to bring them into the moment,
And you've got to ask,
Is it real in truth?
Is it real in truth?
So you're working with the illusion of duality in order to disprove it.
Does that make sense?
That's why this is a practice.
That's why it's a practice.
If anyone's listening to what I say just intellectually and they're not practicing,
There's so much in here that will make your mind spin out of control.
Okay,
Let's leave that one there.
Just keep practicing this present moment exercise.
We go deeper.
That's why we've got eight classes.
First step,
Practice this exercise.
Am I here?
Do I exist?
And for you Maz,
Keep looking for where not love is in reality,
In the moment.
Vanessa,
Do you want to?
I will bring in Sarah.
Sarah,
If you can.
Oh,
I think you said your camera doesn't work.
I will spotlight you anyways.
Okay.
Is it working?
Can you hear me?
Hi,
Sarah.
Hi.
Yeah,
My computer's so old,
My camera doesn't work anymore.
But yeah,
During the snake story,
We kept going back to the snake isn't real,
Snake isn't real,
Snake isn't real.
And I was wondering what happens if it is real,
And it is dangerous in the moment.
Someone's asked this question before.
This is where all the what about questions come up.
Do you want to give me the actual example?
Because that's metaphorical,
Right?
Or are you talking about a real snake,
A real snake in a real world example?
Or are you talking about a metaphorical snake snake?
Or something that's arising for you personally?
Yeah,
I guess.
I guess I guess in the physical,
Like without the metaphor,
The snake is real,
And we should be scared or worried.
So give me an example,
What could possibly happen in the physical world that is real,
That we should be scared or worried about?
Unpredictable,
Like violence,
Okay,
Danger.
We're getting up to the violence conversation.
We can address that now.
It's radical.
Are you willing to contemplate the radicalness of this teaching?
That's why I'm here.
While you're here.
When I ask you,
I'm going to keep going back to the exercise now for for some of you when I ask you if you are here,
Can you feel that hereness?
Because I can't see you're gonna have to tell me.
Yes.
Okay.
Try and stop existing.
Can you stop existing?
Is your existence somehow separate from my existence?
Do you think that this existence has been here always?
Just feel for that answer.
Yeah.
How much violence has been happening on the planet?
Has it damaged or hurt existence itself?
No.
Ever?
No.
Is there anywhere that your existence is not?
No.
Learning for that to be true.
So where exactly is the violence happening?
Physical.
Is the physical world separate from existence?
I feel like I'm gonna have to,
I'm excited that this is eight classes because I know the answers that I should say and I just need to sit with.
You need to practice.
You need to feel.
Because you see,
I can point to the answer for this,
But it is so absurd and almost blasphemous to the ego to say what I would say in this state,
Which is why you have to experience it.
If somebody goes to sleep at night and dreams a nightmare,
When they wake up in the morning,
Did it happen?
No.
Was anybody hurt?
Damaged?
Or were you always in bed and then when you woke up,
The nightmare,
You quite reasonably realize,
Oh,
Thank God it didn't ever happen.
It's not real.
This world is like that too.
Now when you're in the dream and you don't realize that you're dreaming and you think that everything is absolutely real and all the dream characters are real,
Then yeah,
You're gonna be terrified of the violence in there and you're gonna try and protect yourself.
But if you wake up and you go,
Wow,
That was literally a dream.
It didn't happen anyway.
I didn't leave my bed and go and experience this and then come back to my bed.
It never happened.
And this world is like that.
What I will say about this is that we are all still in a state of either deep dreaming or little bit of lucidity or complete lucidity.
If you become lucid in a nightmare and you realize that all the dream characters in the nightmare are still asleep and they're gonna be violent because that's the nature of the ego,
Then even if you're awake,
You're not stupid in the dream.
And if someone comes into your house and they've lost themselves and they can't remember their essence and they're terrified because they're lacking something and they need money or they're starving and they come into your house with a gun,
Then leave in the dream.
This is actually a question that I answer when we get to the end of the eight classes.
I talk about living awake in dream,
But yeah,
Bringing up things like violence and suffering and these really intense,
These things that we've given huge meaning to,
And there's a lot of emotional charge around them.
They're normally not the things we want to tackle first.
Yeah.
Right.
Because it can be so triggering too.
It can be so absurd and triggering to the ego that instead of it opening up,
Instead of you being able to put it aside and keep moving forward,
The ego structure comes in so hard that says,
No way,
I can't,
This is ridiculous,
This is a load of shit,
I'll never do it.
Which is why I don't necessarily go straight to the hardest things first,
But in saying that suffering isn't real,
Obviously that brings a whole lot of stuff up for people,
Hence why we're doing this over eight weeks.
I've written a little chapter for week one,
There's an audio there and I'm going to start answering each week in those chapters,
But what about,
What about violence,
But what about real danger?
So Sarah,
You're going to come to realize that there is no real danger here.
In reality,
It's only happening in a dream that's not real.
Sweet.
Doesn't mean you're an idiot when you're awakened.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm excited.
Okay,
Cool.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
Vanessa,
I think we can do,
I love this.
I think we can do a few.
So I know you love answering questions and we have one from Alison that's touching upon the question of the reason for which there is so much texture and vibrancy and aliveness that I'm experiencing in this body.
It's because there is duality and there is another question or comments from Olivia that says that there's some peace in knowing that war and landscapes and territories that cease to exist were actually something that even though they disappear,
Something still prevails.
I know that you're going to answer Alison's question sooner.
If you want,
We can bring her up and continue to bring people up.
I just want to be mindful of everyone's time as well.
And the fact that you will continue answering questions.
Over the next eight classes?
Yes.
Yeah,
We'll answer a lot of those questions.
So Vanessa,
Which one do you feel should be addressed now?
Alison's.
Okay,
Then let's bring Alison up.
Hello.
Hi.
Hi.
I love.
Thank you so much for class.
So early on in the class,
You said something that really struck me about this idea that duality brings texture to life and dismantling this idea that duality does bring texture to life.
And this is like a long held belief of mine,
Actually,
Because I understand the underpinning of love and I understand and I'm definitely an intellectual.
So I understand like the subtlety of having,
You know,
Love be the underpinning foundation.
And I've also kind of taken up this practice of being like,
It is that and also.
And so I kind of felt that in a lot of ways in my life,
Duality,
I think,
I think I literally had a conversation with a friend saying that duality literally does bring texture to my life.
And I like the texture that it brings.
And I like the experiences and I like the contrast almost allows me to find this sense of gratitude for being here and for being in the present moment.
And so I'm just curious how I would go about beginning to dismantle this idea that duality.
Remember,
I said that when we're highly intellectual,
Especially if we come across spiritual teachers,
We will create what looks like really advanced meaning out of insanity.
If the belief in separation is insane and duality comes out of that and polarity comes out of that,
Then I know it's wild to say,
But making a lot of meaning out of that is making meaning out of insanity.
So are you here?
Yeah.
Are you sure?
Yeah.
Try and stop existing.
Try.
Just get out of here.
Is the past here now?
No.
Future?
They're just ideas.
But even if you bring them up,
They're not here now,
They're not in reality and existence.
Is there any way you end my love and I begin or anybody else?
Does it have some sort of ending?
Beginning?
Is it stressed out?
Afraid?
Your existence?
No.
Ask.
Did you ask if this is all there is and love is real?
Does that make this love?
Do they have to be the same thing if only your existence is here?
Is love boring?
No.
Is this feeling boring?
Is this lacking texture?
No.
Do you need to suffer to enjoy this?
Do you need to suffer to be grateful for this,
To know this?
No.
Let's have a look at some of the experiences that all coexist with this one moment.
Gratitude?
Is that here?
Is it free?
Thank God.
Thank God.
Is there relief here?
What about awe?
You think awe could be here?
Wonder?
Peace?
Compassion?
Do you need to suffer to be compassionate?
We can pull that one apart another day too.
Course in Miracles says when you dismantle the insanity of the ego system,
You're giving up nothing for everything.
What lacks here,
Alison?
Mainly nothing.
Yeah,
Literally nothing.
The only thing that is not here is fear.
Mm-hmm.
Do you want to keep fear?
Is that really what makes your life meaningful and delicious?
No.
Can you continue?
Can you continue creating from here?
Can you come up with ideas and thoughts and can you dance and sing and play and love and share from here?
Mm-hmm.
So you tell me,
Just duality.
Okay,
Here's what's funny,
You guys.
Is this moment separate from itself?
Is it one or two?
One.
It's not even a choice between duality and not duality because duality doesn't even exist.
Find it.
Mm-hmm.
It's either a choice to believe in an idea that's unreal,
Which is insane,
Or to be here now and live.
Is life in an idea of separation or is life here now?
And is it full and whole and delicious?
Love it.
Either 99% of the population has got it right in thinking that duality is a real thing that makes life wonderful and the few people who woke up into truth were wrong.
The masters were wrong.
Or a few people have awakened into truth and 99% of the population is still figuring it out.
What do you think?
Mm-hmm.
In this case,
Majority does not rule.
Just because 10,
You know,
Billions of people believe a snake is real doesn't make it real,
No matter how many people give thought and attention and meaning to it.
Where is the separateness?
Again,
In A Course in Miracles,
It says we are giving up nothing for everything.
Love is what gives life substance.
And I think that's probably a beautiful place to wrap up.
Our first class.
Thank you,
Holly.
So welcome.
I know there's so many more questions.
What I'm going to do is I'm going to take these questions and I'm going to make sure that they continue getting answered in the next classes.
There is a little chapter,
As I said,
It will go up under this recording that says Miracles Not Manifestation and I've answered questions in there.
So you're welcome to listen to that.
Your practice until the next class is to continuously ask yourself,
Do I exist?
It's written up in the chapter.
There's the exercises there.
But just keep trying to come into this moment.
And am I here?
Try and stop existing.
And then even on your own,
See if you can bring up some of the beliefs you think about yourself or life and see if they sit.
See if they if they are aligned or if they are confusing in the present moment.
And we will continue on this journey together.
That's why I always like to give everything in one go.
But we have to do this step by step.
And it requires a bit of dedication and practice.
So Vanessa,
If there's anything that I've forgotten to mention,
This would be a great time to do that.
Thank you so much all for being here.
It's such a joy.
Yes,
Thank you so,
So much for this wonderful moment together.
And just so you know,
I guess I can do a little bit of invitations.
We do have a community that's consistently running and we meet twice every week.
And it's basically a session where we're just going over questions and situations that we're individually going through.
And we workshop it along with Holly and learn new concepts,
New practices.
So if at any point any of you are curious to know how to enter that membership,
You can reach out to us.
And apart from that,
You'll see this call will be recorded.
All the calls will be recorded.
They will be posted on the school platform.
It is pretty intuitive.
But if you have any questions,
You can also just let us know and try to attend live,
Try to give yourself a moment where you can turn on your camera and feel each other.
Let us all feel you as well with your presence and your cameras on if possible.
And yes,
Just stay tuned to your email where you'll receive any notifications for further classes and the schedule will remain the same.
