Hello and welcome to this sensory meditation.
If you have not already brewed a cup of your favorite tea,
Coffee,
Cocoa,
Take a moment now to pause this recording and do so.
Find a comfortable place to sit or even to stand quietly.
Hold your mug in your hands and tune into your breathing.
Notice the warmth of the cup cradled in the palms of your hands.
Bring your mug up close to your face and inhale the aroma of your beverage.
Allow a gentle smile to greet your lips as you feel the comfort this moment can bring in all of its simplicity.
Now take a sip of whatever you have in your cup,
Allowing the warmth to spread across your tongue,
Tasting the flavor,
The medicine of the plants that have gifted you this beverage.
As you swallow,
Notice how it warms your throat all the way down through your chest and into your belly.
This is nourishment.
Continue to be still with your cup,
To feel into how your body responds,
How the tension of the day can melt away just a little bit with each sip.
Notice the flavors that linger in your mouth even after you've swallowed.
If worries or thoughts become present,
Allow them a moment of acknowledgment and then let them go.
Right now,
It's just you and your beverage,
Warm and comforting,
Allowing you to be present with your body and the sensations therein for a few more moments.
If you can,
Stay with your cup,
Stay with your breath,
Stay with your body until you have finished your drink.
Allow yourself to feel gratitude for the warmth and the comfort of this moment.
To feel gratitude for the long chain of beings that were involved in bringing this cup into your hands,
Containing the medicine of the plants that it does today.
From the store owner from whom you purchased,
To the delivery drivers that brought this product to the store,
To the people who processed the plant,
To the farmers who grew it,
To the very soil of the earth that nourished the plants as they grew,
And of course the plants themselves who are now generously conferring their medicine upon your body.
When you come to the end of your cup,
And please don't rush this part,
Allow yourself to take one last pause and notice how your body feels now compared to when you began.
I'm allowing the music to continue on past the end of my voice here so that you have a sacred space to continue to enjoy your beverage with presence and peace before you move back into your day.
You'll know that this meditation has wrapped up when the music comes to an end,
But you can still sit if you are not finished.
You have permission to do so.
