Step 6 - Use the F word. | What is it about forgiveness that frightens us so much? Begin to see Forgiveness as a way of freeing yourself from an emotional tie to a person or situation. Forgiveness never condones another's behaviour, it simply confirms that you choose to travel light and are no longer going to let it control you.

Hello,

My name's Ian Tucker.

Welcome to 10 Steps for a Better Life.

Step 6.

Use the F word.

What is it about forgiveness that frightens us so much?

The very mention of the word may have you reaching for the stop button already,

But give me just a couple of minutes.

On paper we have it made.

Forgiveness is a proven method to smash the shackles that hold us to someone or something that has hurt us.

Some part of us knows that forgiveness would set us free,

And yet we still can't use the F word.

Why?

It's very simple.

On some level we think that forgiving someone or something would condone the behaviour that has made us feel this way.

And so we hold on to it.

We carry it with us.

We don't let it go.

And it starts to eat away at us,

To define us.

We stay the victim.

And there's the key.

Whilst you or I decide or accept to remain the victim in any area of our life,

We place our inner calm and wellbeing in the hands of somebody else.

Enough now.

It's time to let go.

Very simple but profound,

That you can use as a template and work through anything in your life that you need to let go of.
