In this fast paced, social-media heavy world, it is so easy to feel overwhelmed by what we see online and, inevitably, we will sometimes compare ourselves - it is a human thing to do, and one that can hurt us so much. Let’s work on it together! A short guided meditation will take you through a journey of awareness of how your breath, body and mind are feeling. We will then explore how to let go of comparison and how our perception of reality can often be distorted.

Take a moment to find a comfortable and safe place where you can sit down or lie down.

I invite you to close your eyes and take a few deep breaths.

Breathe in and out through the mouth.

Next one,

Still a deep breath but you're gonna let it out through the nose and then let your breath go back to normal.

Trust that your body knows what it's doing.

Let's notice how your body is feeling.

Perhaps there's some tension somewhere and if so,

Imagine that you're breathing in to that place where you feel that tension.

Notice how it helps it dissolve.

Notice how your mind is.

Are there any thoughts,

Good or bad,

Or any persistent worries?

And when you breathe in and breathe out,

Imagine letting go.

Let go of those thoughts in a peaceful awareness of someone who knows that they will still be there at the end of this few minutes so you can deal with them later.

This is your moment.

It is so easy to fall in the trap of comparisons but comparison is a game that no one wins because we only know one fraction of other people's reality which is often the achievement,

The success,

The happiness.

So how can we want to compare that with our whole truth?

Just like us,

Everyone else is also going through challenges,

Through pain and traumas that they do not want to shout to the world about.

We are all fighting battles.

So next time you compare yourself to someone or wish you had something they have,

Ask yourself why?

Where is this coming from?

And remember what you are seeing is a portion of that person's life.

You don't know the struggles they are facing.

So instead of jealousy or comparison,

How would it feel to instead extend love and peace towards them?

For our last few moments together,

Here is our mantra.

I am love.

I am enough.

I am exactly where I need to be.

I invite you to repeat it gently,

Softly with me.

I am loved.

I am enough.

I am exactly where I need to be.

I am loved.

I am enough.

I am exactly where I need to be.

I am love.

I am enough.

I am exactly where I need to be.

And when you are ready,

Just flutter your eyes open,

Sending you lots of love and a warm smile.
