The intellect of an angel.
The intellect of an angel brings newness,
Wealth and warmth to what is thin and complex.
It is a resource of quality like a well.
To take your fill from it,
You need only bend a little and come close.
It is vast and simple,
With the knowledge of what is to come and the memory of what has been inside it.
And these in equal intensity,
So that with unflinching feelings of love,
It can show the good and the bad,
The ugly and the beautiful.
It also understands what is happening in the present,
So that touching it,
You know what to do next,
However strange that suggestion may be.
In it is the wisdom to see connections that a human intellect misses.
Connections between people and places,
Moments of value and moments of weakness.
It is an eye that sees everything and everyone as they are,
As they have been and as they will be.
The intellect of an angel is entwined in the thinking of God,
To the extent that it can feel the direction in which he is moving.
And the directions he is hearing are music to sing to,
Not marching orders to live through.
An angel can hear God's mind,
Though the body in which it itself is housed is further away than miles can measure.
An angel's intellect is not spoiled by anything physical.
Neither night nor day,
Birth nor death,
Love nor hatred,
Food nor hunger,
Shadow its precision.
It is perfect,
Deep and lovely.
What is the task of an angel's intellect?
To inspire.
As God inspires it,
It inspires others.
It takes them to new insights,
Teaches them,
Even at a distance,
And creates a powerful impact,
Because in its completeness,
It's an example to watch.
If I were embarking on any work that required the intelligence of the world for its accomplishment,
I would look first to the intelligence of an angel.
For though an angel may never have entered the context of the task,
He will always have entertained its principle.
And where the world may give you a manual,
An angel's intellect will offer you a mantra,
And that is so much quicker and quieter.
