Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night,
Your mind racing,
Your heart pounding through your chest,
Maybe perspiring?
Is it a triggering moment?
Is it all of the negative thoughts from the day deciding to make their appearance all at once?
If you can calm yourself down by laying on your back,
Your limbs at their side,
Your legs loose and light,
Your toes wiggling them until they calm down.
Try doing a body scan from the top of your head to your toes.
Starting with your head,
Your hair,
Your eyes,
Your nose,
Your mouth,
Your throat,
Your shoulders where we hold a lot of tension,
Your chest,
Your arms,
Your hands,
Your fingers,
Your belly,
Your hips,
Your pelvis,
Your upper legs,
Your knees,
The lower legs,
Your feet,
Your toes.
And now picture all of that negative energy exiting your body through your toes.
It's all leaving your body,
All of those negative thoughts released into the air,
Into the atmosphere,
Gone.
Now take a deep breath in and release through the mouth.
Take another deep breath in and release through the mouth.
You can continue to focus on your breath as long as you are still awake,
It relaxes you and will put you into a state where your body can go back to sleep.
