Negative thoughts hit us and we can get lost in them... breathing allows us to calm the body and come back to the moment leaving the unsettling past behind us. As a survivor of Domestic Violence, I suffer from CPTSD and use this technique to assist me. It takes much practice but over time this technique has become habit and life changing. Hoping it will help you as well. Much love.

Here it comes,

The negative thought slapping us in the face.

The pain,

It hurts so much.

It's so deep.

We can feel it through our whole body.

We have choices.

We can allow the pain to continue to linger.

Or we can take a deep breath in,

Holding on to that cleansing air,

Allowing it to go down through our nose,

Down our throat,

Into our chest,

Feeling it go down into our belly,

Filling our legs,

Our feet,

Our toes,

Our arms,

Our hands,

Our fingertips.

Letting that air go up into our brain,

Filling it and cleansing all of that negativity,

Scrubbing it clean.

And then when ready,

Blowing all of that negativity out through the mouth.

Sometimes a negative thought can be very controlling.

And it takes more than one breath to cleanse your body and be rid of it.

Try to remember you're not alone.

You're okay.

You will be safe from harm.

It's only a thought.

Life can throw us horrible,

Horrible situations.

We have choices.

Taking a breath is one of the easiest ways to self-regulate.

Taking a breath is the difference between allowing the pain to continue and being able to move on with your day.

Keep breathing.

Remember you're not alone.

Stay strong.
