We're in a cab and we're on our way to the airport,

Just a few minutes away.

So many other cars are going the same way,

Like sheep all following the shepherd,

All huddled together and going in the same direction.

Like a firefly drawn to the night.

Once you get hooked on that light you can't turn away.

You look out and see some of the other faces all with the same looks in their eyes.

We get out of the cab now,

I'm so excited,

I haven't been away for a while and can't wait to get back on a plane again.

It's not the plane I like so much,

It's the whole endless sum of possibilities that happen when you're transported from one place to another in a metal tube.

So many faces all with looks of anticipation and excitement.

There seems to be an unwritten language of total joy when you're going away.

Some people do look a little frazzled,

I must admit.

Travelling can be exciting but also draining at the same time.

Well,

First thing we need to do is get rid of these bags and then we can go on to the fun bit of the airport and that's my favorite,

Now here comes the real fun bit.

Let's take a walk around this busy airport and boy is it busy.

All these people around,

The constant announcements and don't you just love the sound of the bing-bong.

My ears seem to be tuned in for whenever it goes off.

I just stop what I'm doing and go into a temporary paralysis.

Just on the weird-off chance that my name gets called.

But when I think about it,

Why would they call my name?

I can't just,

I just can't get it out of my mind though,

So I continue to listen.

Let's move on now to having a good mooch around the duty free.

Now I'm a lady that loves perfume and there are so many to choose from over here.

I'm buying this one for my daughter.

She loves this scent and every time I smell it,

I think of her.

Funny how smells can bring you right back to a place,

A time and even a person.

So now,

On to some chocolates.

My other daughter,

She loves her Toblerone.

They always have these huge bars of Toblerone at the airport and I'm gonna pick up one of those too.

She'd never forgive me if I came without it.

So the next stop is to the bookstore.

Who doesn't like a good book to tuck into when they're on the plane?

Because let's be frank,

Sometimes the movies that they have on the plane are not all they're cracked up to be and a good read really helps to pass the time.

So I treat myself to a book.

Look at that.

Buy one,

What a deal.

I'm sold.

Right,

That's that purchased.

So maybe I'll look around for something to eat.

You know,

You could have had the biggest breakfast before you travel and then you get to the airport and you still want something to eat and drink.

Amazing.

I guess it's just an airport thing.

But why in the world would I want to fight that feeling?

My favorite is Pret.

I love their hot drinks and their little treats wrapped up in the form of pastries.

Just perfect.

Perfect enough to give you that I'm just about to get on a plane feeling.

So I'll be decadent and have a hot chocolate with a smidge of fresh cream of course and a piano chocolat on the side.

That was truly delightful.

It always feels like such a treat when you have something to eat and drink at the airport.

Just walking around looking at all the stores,

Everything that you could possibly want in this airport.

It's not my intention to spend all of my spending money in the airport but it is lovely to look around.

I believe you could come here with no luggage at all and buy everything you needed to travel with.

Airports are definitely not the same as when I was in Liverpool.

Right now they're like superstar shopping plazas with everything that you could possibly imagine and the rest that you can't.

They certainly have here to keep you occupied before you get on your plane.

I could imagine it must be a really interesting job working at the airport.

Everything's constantly moving,

People going back and forth and when you work here no two days can be the same.

It must be an interesting job seeing people on their way away,

Seeing people coming back,

People always passing,

Going one way or another,

Constantly moving.

It is very busy but the noise gives me a kind of comfort.

I'm not sure why.

It kind of makes me feel relaxed.

There are so many announcements going on.

I just can't keep up.

I'll try to tune my ear to recognise my name and hopefully I'll be able to filter out anything else.

If you listen to all these announcements you'd never do anything or go anywhere.

There's so many of them.

It's an awful thing to lose your flight.

I've seen some people roll around on the ground screaming and crying because they couldn't get let on their flight.

Okay I'll look for my boarding gate now and get ready to get on the plane.

Looking at that information board so many people huddled around it trying to find out where to go.

This airport is so huge I wouldn't like to get lost here.

But lucky for me I'm an old hand at this airport game.

So I found my departure gate and I'm sitting here outside and this is one of the most fun things of being at the airport.

People watching.

Look at that lovely looking lady over there all dressed up for maximum comfort.

I remember years ago when my family members were going on a plane and would be all dressed up to meet the folks at the other end.

I'm sure hardly anyone does that anymore.

It's dressing for comfort all the way nowadays.

Hoodies,

Track bottoms and some easy to slip off shoes.

That's the new airport uniform.

There's a guy over there with his laptop plugged in and chatting away.

He looks as if he's still at the office.

Someone should go over to him and say excuse me do you know you're about to get on a plane a tin box that will transport you to a beautiful place away from here and will give you a chance to relax.

And it's soon time for me to be on my way too.

I'm just taking a slow walk waiting in the queue.

They say it takes 20 minutes to actually get to right outside the gate.

It's a good thing they give you these time prompts because otherwise I could get carried away in the duty free and end up being another announcement like Gemma and Ryan.

Well now I'm at the boarding gate and it's time to make my way onto the plane.
