Welcome to our breastfeeding track.
Before you begin,
Take the time to get comfortable.
Make sure you have water nearby,
Maybe a snack,
Gather enough pillows to support your arms so they don't get tired.
Take a couple of deep breaths as you prepare to feed.
Babies are very good at picking up on your energy,
So the more relaxed you are,
The more relaxed baby will be.
We know breastfeeding can be very difficult,
So here are a couple of reminders before we get started.
It shouldn't be very painful.
If you're really hurting,
Get help.
See if there's a local breastfeeding support group,
Le Leche League meeting,
Or lactation consultant that you can meet with.
Don't suffer through this.
The sooner you can ask for help,
The better.
You don't have to enjoy breastfeeding all the time.
We know you've been doing this a lot,
And it can start to feel like you're a feeding machine.
Try and create some rituals around your feedings so that you're nourishing yourself as you're nourishing your baby.
Listening to this track is a great start.
Some other ideas?
Have some tea,
Watch one of your favorite shows,
Dim the lights.
Every day is going to be very different.
So remember,
Just because you have one bad feeding doesn't mean it's going to be like that forever.
Babies are constantly changing,
And you're both still getting to know each other.
This is very new for both of you,
So give yourself and babies some time to figure it out together.
Just because something doesn't work one time doesn't mean that it won't work later.
