Whether it's family,

Dear friends,

Loved ones,

It hurts to love them so much and disagree so deeply.

It's hard to have so much love and so much disagreement.

It's disappointing.

I want them to see things my way.

They want us to see things their way.

And even when we do,

It's still hard.

It can drive them crazy.

It can drive me crazy.

Loving and disagreeing.

How will I be around people I love and disagree with?

In life we're free to disagree,

But it can bring up so many emotions,

Including really uncomfortable ones.

I look at myself and I look at the situation.

I look at how I need to get clear,

Get focused,

Get creative,

And work on how I can be around those that I love but disagree with.

How do I go about things,

The things that come with the disagreement?

I prepare where I can,

If at all possible.

I redirect the time and the topic whenever it's needed.

I can draw limits based on what I need and they need.

I stay close to common ground.

I even make light of it all if it fits.

I roll with it,

Careful not to let things hurt me or others.

There's a bunch of emotions here.

Where do I go to recharge after this?

What can I do to release pain?

How can I work on accepting what is and what isn't?

Is there anything I can try to make it easier for the next time?

I can communicate love and I can communicate disagreement.

I can communicate disagreement with love.

In ways we do agree,

I can communicate agreement with love.

I take care of myself with all these emotions and pain.

I'm getting better at being around those I love and deeply disagree with.

I make self-love a priority here.

I put self-care into action and I help myself anytime I need it.
