Hello,
My name is Kim and welcome to today's meditation.
I'll be your guide today for this mantra meditation practice.
A mantra is a mind tool that helps the mind travel beyond the level of thoughts into deeper and deeper levels of silence and awareness.
Let's get still.
I am not this hair.
I am not this skin.
I am the soul that lives within.
Beautiful words from India Ari's iconic song,
I am not my hair.
I invite you to get comfortable,
Sitting or lying down.
Gently close your eyes,
Hands resting by your sides,
Or if you wish,
You can put one hand of your heart space and the other your tummy.
Just make sure you're good and comfortable.
Now take a nice long,
Slow,
Deep breath in and slowly release it.
Another nice long,
Slow,
Deep breath in and slowly let it go.
One more long,
Slow,
Deep breath in.
Hold it and slowly let it go,
Let it go,
Let it go.
Feel the natural flow of your breath moving in and out,
Not trying to change your breathing in any way.
Simply being aware of the breath,
Moment to moment.
Steady.
In this relaxed state,
Begin to ask the soul question,
Who am I?
Just listen,
No need to try to come up with the answer.
Let the soul question settle.
Now let's take it deeper.
The mantra we will use today is,
I am,
I am.
We are using the mantra,
I am,
Simply to embrace the fact that we exist and are all part of this universe.
I am.
Repeat the mantra with me three times out loud.
I am.
Begin to slowly whisper the mantra,
I am.
Now continue repeating the mantra without moving your tongue or your lips.
And when you find that the mantra has slipped away,
Just bring it back.
You don't have to force it.
You don't have to push.
You don't have to even concentrate.
Just slowly keep bringing the mantra back.
Keep escorting your kind attention back to the mantra gently and easily.
I am.
Saying it silently to yourself without moving your tongue or your lips.
I'll watch the time.
And when you hear my voice,
Continue keeping your eyes closed and sitting quietly.
I am.
We will have 10 minutes of silence.
Just keep repeating the mantra.
I am.
I am.
Silently to yourself.
I am not this hair.
I am not this skin.
I am the soul that lives within.
Namaste.
