Remember how in each meditation that we do,
We start by inviting the Lama,
A holy being,
To help us with the meditation,
Right?
If you have a Lama,
Invite them.
If you don't have a Lama,
Invite a holy being.
Either somebody you know or somebody you can imagine them,
That's fine too.
There is a way in which you can amplify the help that they give you.
You can force them to help you in a more powerful way.
You can manipulate them through understanding of karma.
So this is this.
It's going to be a very short meditation and it can replace the way you start your meditation.
Not the actual Tonglen but the way you start a Tonglen.
Okay,
So it's just the first part of the Tonglen.
So sit nicely,
Straight back,
Close your eyes.
Pay attention to your breathing.
And imagine a Lama in front of you.
They are sitting in the air in front of you.
And as you visualize them,
See them in a perfect form.
They are a totally perfect holy Lama.
They are beautiful,
Radiant,
Perfect in every single way.
In their body,
In their mind,
In their heart,
Everything is absolutely perfect.
And you are sitting alone with this Lama,
It's just you and them.
And see them turn into light.
They are a being of light.
They still have the same shape and form but they are made out of light.
Feel their presence with you.
Feel their warmth.
Feel their fragrance.
This Lama that's in front of you,
They embody the teaching.
They are the teaching.
They have a lineage.
They have a lineage of teachers that brought down the wisdom to them and now through them it's coming to you.
And their lineage was equally pure and beautiful.
And now focus on your body.
Focus on your own body and see it as completely hollow.
It is also made of light.
Some maybe blue light.
You don't have any internal organs,
Any blood or muscles,
Just light inside.
Same outer outline but inside everything is light.
And in that body of light,
Picture your central channel which starts at the Ajna chakra and goes up to your crown and then goes all the way down where your spine used to be now.
You don't have it anymore,
Right?
So you picture that central channel as a red tube which is crystal red.
It's translucent.
It's also made of light.
And in the tip of that tube at the Ajna chakra which is where it begins,
See a beautiful tiny sparkling diamond shining in all directions.
And so look at this beautiful diamond.
It represents your wisdom.
Now in your heart chakra which is inside your central channel,
It's a tiny little chakra inside your central channel next to the spine at the level where it used to be your heart.
There see a tiny little rose which is red,
Beautiful,
Fragrant.
And it represents your love and your compassion.
Now see the little diamond travel through the central channel.
It goes up to your crown and then slides gently down and lands on the rose.
And so now your wisdom and your compassion are united.
And there is no greater power in the universe than your wisdom and compassion fully developed and united.
So look at them for a moment.
And now turn back and look at the llama in front of you,
That perfect beautiful llama made of light.
And ask them to come and help you.
And they come.
They rise in the air,
They become smaller,
They turn so they face the way you are,
And they land on the top of your head.
They sit on your crown,
They are tiny.
And they also have a diamond and a rose in their central channel,
Right above yours.
And as you are begging them for help and begging them for teachings and for realizations and for blessings,
Nectar begins to flow from their diamond and rose.
It flows down through their central channel directly into yours through your crown.
And that nectar fills up your hollow body.
And your body is becoming filled with the blessing of the llama of their nectar.
And that nectar is like light coming into you from your llama.
And the whole wisdom of the whole lineage is transmitted to you through that nectar.
And actually feel it like real in your body.
Get a whistle feeling how it fills your body with blessing and bliss.
And this special beam of light comes from their diamond and rose directly into your diamond and rose in your heart.
So this is the precious gift of the teacher.
Through that nectar,
The precious gift of the teacher,
All the other gifts are given to you directly with the nectar.
They give you all the gifts of generosity,
Morality,
Patience,
And joyful effort,
And concentration and wisdom.
It all flows into you directly from their heart.
So now they give you all those gifts.
Feel gratitude for those gifts.
Thank them in your heart for what they're giving you.
And as you do at home maybe the rest of the practice,
Whether it be yoga practice or meditation practice,
That practice make it as an offering to the llama in return for their goodness,
For their kindness,
For what they are giving to you.
Make it as an offering.
Your practice is the highest offering that you can give your llama.
So make it that way and offer it with a lot of gratitude in your heart.
So you can open your eyes.
