Mother Earth's embrace,
Root your power.
Welcome,
My name is Liz.
This meditation is for you who long to let go,
Exhale and rest.
Together we enter a state of pure being and seek refuge in the embrace of Mother Earth.
Wrapped in a soft darkness,
We open to new inspiration.
We plant seeds of intention in her fertile soil and let them sprout in trust.
We are always moving,
Always striving.
To achieve,
To contribute,
To become something,
To prove that we can.
We push and pull,
We try to shape the world according to our expectations.
We reach for more,
Further ahead,
Higher up,
So much so that we tend to forget ourselves.
We forget to breathe,
To simply be.
And in our attempt to control everything,
We tighten.
We sabotage ourselves.
We overlook the possibilities right in front of us,
Because they don't look like the ones we imagined.
And when things don't unfold the way we hoped,
We blame ourselves.
We often carry far too much responsibility.
We forget that most of life is outside our control.
In psychology,
We speak of three domains.
What you can control,
What you can influence,
And what is simply circumstance.
Take sleep for example.
You can control your actions.
You can choose to go to bed at 10 pm,
Turn off the screen,
Dim the lights,
Create calm around you.
But that doesn't mean you will sleep well.
Sleep is not something you can force.
It comes when the body is ready.
You also have influence.
You can ask your partner to lower the lights,
Ask your children to respect your bedtime,
Create a peaceful atmosphere in your home.
But you cannot control how others respond.
And then there are the circumstances.
You cannot control whether you wake at three with a racing mind,
Whether your body releases tension,
Whether you dream or lie awake.
You cannot change the light of the full moon or the restlessness that lives in you right now.
These are conditions.
And the only thing you can do is surrender and trust.
When we understand what we can control and what we cannot,
We can begin to release the struggle.
We can set aside the urge to control and allow ourselves to proceed.
Sleep comes when we make space for it,
Just as power begins to grow when we dare to rest in the dark.
When we meet resistance,
We must realize what we're actually facing and then turn toward what we can act on.
The rest we must place gently in the hands of the universe,
Trusting that we are held and that everything unfolds as it is meant to.
We must rediscover faith,
Learn to let go,
Allow ourselves to rest,
To receive,
To simply be.
We cannot always be active.
Sometimes we need care from others and from ourselves.
In the quiet moments,
We open,
We soften,
We listen,
And we allow new possibilities to take root.
In this meditation,
I invite you to set down the need to control,
Just for a while.
Let yourself be enveloped by a soft darkness filled with infinite potential.
Listen to what wants to grow within you.
Give it space.
Allow yourself to receive the nectar of life from the Great Mother and rest in her embrace.
Find a quiet place where you can withdraw without being disturbed.
Sit or lie down,
Whatever allows your body to soften completely.
Make yourself comfortable and gently close your eyes.
Take a deep breath in,
Exhale,
And let your whole body relax.
Allow yourself to arrive,
To be fully present.
Let your thoughts drift by like leaves on water.
Listen to the signals your body is sending you.
Notice what is here.
How do you feel right now?
Acknowledge any tension or discomfort and send your breath to the places that need it.
With each inhale,
Soften a little more.
With each exhale,
Release a little more.
Feel that you are alive.
Feel your heart beating.
Give yourself permission to simply exist.
You do not need to change anything.
You are already enough.
You are here.
Now,
Let us set an intention for our spiritual work and call upon Mother Earth to hold us in her embrace.
Your intention focuses your energy and guides your collaboration with the spirits.
Repeat after me.
Dear Mother Earth,
I ask for your help and your care.
Hold me gently in your safe embrace and let me find rest.
I surrender to your rhythm and rest in your wisdom.
Bless me with new energy and inspiration.
And let my power take root in your fertile soil.
Dear Mother Earth,
I ask for your help and your care.
Hold me gently in your safe embrace and let me find rest.
I surrender to your rhythm and rest in your wisdom.
Bless me with new energy and inspiration.
And let my power take root in your fertile soil.
Dear Mother Earth,
I ask for your help and your care.
Hold me gently in your safe embrace and let me find rest.
I surrender to your rhythm and rest in your wisdom.
Bless me with new energy and inspiration.
And let my power take root in your fertile soil.
Take a moment to let the intention settle into your heart.
Feel its warmth spreading through your entire body.
Carry it with you like a sprouting seed throughout the meditation.
Now,
Imagine that you are standing in a magnificent deciduous forest surrounded by ancient trees,
Silver-white birches,
Majestic oaks and graceful beeches.
It is autumn and the leaves have forgotten to change.
A burst of yellow,
Orange and brown mingles with the green,
Creating a tapestry of harmony.
The wind shakes the branches and the leaves dance through the air around you.
The sky is grey and the air is moist.
The forest floor smells of mushrooms and earth.
A soft mist hangs between the trunks,
As if the land itself is weaving a veil of mystery.
Beech nuts and acorns lie scattered everywhere.
Insects scurry across the forest floor and spider webs glisten between the branches.
A squirrel darts across the path.
You are warmly dressed,
Walking in quiet reflection.
Feel how the forest welcomes you,
How it opens your mind.
You belong here,
Equal to everything else that lives,
Neither more nor less.
A deep calm settles over you and your worries begin to fall away.
Then you feel it,
A calling.
A longing in your heart draws you deeper into the forest.
You follow the path until you reach a clearing with a small green mound at its center.
It looks like a fairy hill from the old stories.
Mist coils around it and you notice an entrance leading into the mound,
A stone doorway framed by delicate white flowers.
Above the entrance is a stone plaque engraved with the words,
Mother Earth's womb.
This is a sacred place,
A sanctuary dedicated to the Great Mother.
The door opens for you,
You have been called.
With a longing in your chest,
You step inside.
A wide passage leads into the darkness,
Lined with roots and stone.
A soft darkness envelops you and welcomes you.
It feels safe,
Comforting.
Bioluminescent plants glow faintly,
Casting a green gold light to guide your way.
You walk for a long time and with each step you sink deeper into your connection with the Great Mother.
Eventually you arrive at an oval chamber deep within the earth.
In the center is a natural stone alcove.
You approach it and see a hollow lined with sand,
Moss and flowers.
It looks like a bed,
Soft,
Inviting.
You touch it gently.
It is warm and yielding beneath your fingers.
Then you sense a presence behind you.
It is the handmaiden of the Mother,
The guardian of this sacred place,
Tending to all her journey here.
Take a moment to meet her,
Center yourself.
Take a deep breath and let your burdens fall away.
Now tell the handmaiden why you have come and repeat your intention.
Dear Mother Earth,
I ask for your help and your care.
Hold me gently in your safe embrace and let me find rest.
I surrender to your rhythm and rest in your wisdom.
Bless me with new energy and inspiration and let my power take root in your fertile soil.
The handmaiden smiles and offers you a cup of water.
Drink,
She says.
This is the nectar of life.
It will renew your energy.
You take the cup and drink.
She gestures toward the alcove.
Lie down and rest.
You are safe here.
Grateful and tired from your long walk,
You lie down in the hollow and immediately your body softens.
The earth holds you.
The handmaiden begins to sing a soft ancient melody and on the wings of her song you drift gently into the darkness.
You now find yourself in the darkness of infinite potential,
The womb of the universe,
The place from which all creation begins.
Here it is safe.
Here you can rest.
The Great Mother holds you.
You do not need to do anything.
Simply be with what is and allow yourself to soften into her embrace.
Feel how the energy of the nectar of life spreads through your body.
It begins as a gentle move in your heart and slowly expands outward into your chest,
Your arms,
Your belly,
Your legs,
Your whole being.
It strengthens every cell.
It heals what has been strained or tired.
It flows through you,
Filling you with new vitality.
It awakens your life force,
Your joy,
Your inner spark,
Until your soul hums with energy and glows with quiet happiness.
Rest in this moment.
Let yourself be held in the state of pure being.
Then you hear a voice,
Deep,
Melodic,
Ancient.
Welcome,
My child.
It is Mother Earth.
She has come to help you find new inspiration.
Spend some time with her now.
Let her hold you while you listen inwardly.
What desires are ready to sprout in your heart?
What is longing to grow within you?
For every wish you speak,
She offers you a luminous seed,
A small glowing kernel of potential that you may carry with you out of the darkness and plant in her fertile soil later.
You now have some time alone,
About six minutes,
To seek inspiration.
Remember that you can always call upon the Great Mother if you feel uncertain on your support.
I will return and guide you when it is time.
The handmaiden's song fades,
And it is time to return from the darkness of infinite potential.
You sit up slowly and hold the luminous seeds in your hands.
They glow with a warm golden light,
Filling the chamber with a soft radiance and awakening a sense of hope and purpose within you.
You feel something stir,
As if the light itself is opening a new path inside you.
You rise,
Eager to begin.
The handmaiden smiles and offers you a small wooden shovel.
Plant your seeds in the Mother's womb,
She says,
Gesturing toward the alcove behind you.
You turn,
And to your surprise,
The hollow you rested in is now filled with rich,
Dark soil.
Your connection with the Mother Earth made it possible,
She says gently.
You have nourished the soil of your heart.
Now,
Plant your seeds.
You kneel and place each glowing seed into the earth with care and reverence.
Then the handmaiden hands you a vessel of water,
The nectar of life.
You pour it over the soil,
And as the water sinks in,
You feel that the seeds begin to stir.
You can almost hear them growing,
Quietly,
Steadily,
With purpose.
Spend a moment with the handmaiden now.
Ask her what you can do to help these new sprouts grow strong in your life.
Listen with your heart.
It is time to return home.
Thank the handmaiden of the Mother for her guidance and care.
Step out of the chamber and begin walking back through the passageway.
Feel how the energy shifts around you,
How you slowly return to your everyday events with each step you take.
As you emerge into the light,
Turn around and look at the mound one last time.
Notice how your seeds have already begun to sprout,
Tiny,
Tender shoots reaching toward the sun.
You are on your way.
Your intentions are manifesting.
Walk back through the forest.
Feel the ground beneath your feet.
Take a slow,
Full inhale.
Hold it gently for a moment,
And exhale.
Sense where your body meets the surface beneath you.
Feel its weight.
You have returned.
Open your eyes when you feel ready.
Take a moment to notice how you feel.
What effect did this meditation have on you?
Is there something you wish to explore further?
Set quietly for a few breaths,
And let the experience settle into your body.
Thank you for being here.
Thank you for allowing yourself to let go and rest in the embrace of Mother Earth.
Well done.
To integrate and root your experience,
You may want to write down your insights.
Reflect on the following questions.
What is sprouting within you right now?
What needs nourishment?
And how can you care for yourself as you grow?
Take your well-being seriously.
Make space for pauses.
Give yourself permission to rest.
Be open to what life offers you.
Receive the Mother's gifts of gratitude,
And take your time with the transformation you have begun today.
Repeat this meditation whenever you need rest,
Renewal,
Or inspiration.
Practicing it regularly,
For example at the new moon,
Helps keep your energy balanced.
If you feel cold,
You may continue your journey through the elements with me in the next meditation.
There,
We call upon the wind of truth to carry your intention into the world and give voice to your soul.
You can find it here on InsideTimer when you are ready to let the wind guide your words.
May you be rooted in your power,
And may faith and wonder guide your path.
