Today’s theme, “do less and make it your best,” is a phrase shared with Liz by a client, and it struck a deep chord. In this episode of 5 Minutes in Nature, Liz reflects on what truly matters in her life, especially in relation to her business. She recognises that this idea of doing less, yet giving her best, feels especially relevant to the path she is now choosing to follow.

Hello and welcome to Five Minutes in Nature with me Liz Scott.

Out and about on my morning walk,

Just deeply breathing in the fresh air and enjoying being outside.

It's one of those days which could go either way.

I don't know if it's going to rain or not.

I haven't looked at the forecast yet.

It could be that it breaks out into sunshine and it could be that it rains or is showery.

Either way I feel as though this moment in the morning where I'm a bit elevated,

So I'm looking over a canopy of trees in the woodland below me and I can see a busy road.

This is the road that goes between Plymouth,

One of the cities in Devon and Exeter,

The other city in Devon,

And I can just see a little strip of it and the cars on it.

It's a busy time of day and today as I reflect I'm reminded of a client I was speaking with yesterday and just reminded of something she said that struck me as so wise and resonated with me as well.

You see at the moment if you've been following me you'll know that I'm in a transition.

I'm transitioning and things are starting to become clear about what's next with my life and my business but it's not 100% clear yet.

The other day I sat down with a big bit of paper and I just wrote down some of the core things that are important to me and reminded myself of some of the creative courses I've created on Insight Timer for example or some of the writing I've done.

I just sat down and reminded myself of all that I've got on offer and in the very middle of the paper I put in a heart the quote I shared with you a couple weeks ago.

All we are is peace love and wisdom and the power to create the illusion that we're not.

All we are is peace love and wisdom and the power to create the illusion that we're not.

And that was at the centre of this piece of paper because that in essence is what I feel I want to share and the way I want to live in my life is reminding myself and reminding others of that.

I noticed that on this bit of paper what I would usually do or have done in the past when I've been doing a bit of business planning is I've been sort of filling it with ideas and actions and things to do but this time it was quite sparse and I made it really neat writing.

I wasn't scribbling all over it and I just reflected on what I really wanted and for me I realised it's really important to have connection with people,

Contact.

I really value the conversations I have when you leave reviews for Insight Timer.

I love those conversations,

I love hearing what lands for you,

Where you are in life and I realised that that's really important and central to what I continue engaging with.

And then going back to my client she said something that really resonated with me and she's just been employed in quite a senior position and she's just managing and working out the way that the business that she's out with at the moment,

The way it works.

And one of the things she said is that they're running,

They're quite a new business and they're running before they can walk.

She said I really feel they need to put the foundations in and I said to her if you had a,

You know,

If you had a central message that you wanted to communicate,

What would it be?

And she,

I think she'd thought about this before because she came up with it very quickly.

She said to do less and to make it your best.

To do less and to make it your best.

And I loved that.

I mean I loved it for the clarity it brought her but I loved it because I was like yes with my business I don't want to do loads of things but what I do is I want to make it my best.

I want to have the best of connections and conversations.

I want to meet people face to face.

I want to,

When I provide training or coaching,

I want it to be the best and I don't need lots of it.

That's not what I'm after or to get bigger or to get hugely successful.

I just want to do what I do with love and care and relationship and connection.

That's what I really want.

So I'm just kind of curious with you does that resonate for you to do less and for that to be your best?

Does that resonate for you?

I'd love to hear from you.

I often think about not only doing less but HAVING less. There is too much clutter and distraction in my life. “Best” is sort of buried right now.

That's brilliant Liz, it's also my guiding line in my business and this sentence really resonates with me too. "To do less, and make it your best". For me I noticed that in doing less, I am able to better be present, better be there for clients and also friends, and loved ones and the experience s somewhat richer, so is my best naturally. Thank you for sharing this 🙏🏼😊
