Hello and welcome to five minutes in nature with me Liz Scott and you join me on a walk I started this walk yesterday exploring this idea of transition and change and I'm continuing on this similar exploration and it's an exploration for me into Elderhood particularly elderhood for women and it might be the same for men I don't know but that's my focus as I have shifted myself over the last few years into a completely different place Yesterday was looking at that transformation,
That sense of deep shift in life,
Not just a little change or tweak around the edges,
But the equivalent of shifting from a caterpillar to a butterfly.
And that's how it's felt for me as I've shifted and moved through the menopause.
And today's reflection is moving on from recognising that change.
To exploring the rise of intuition and wisdom in your life.
Now as I walked here today on this wonderful day,
I'm part way up a hill and I'm sitting on a boulder having just said hello to a hawthorn tree and if you join me on Five Minutes in Nature you'll know that across Dartmoor there are hawthorn trees that are scattered around And this hawthorn tree was one I came to several years ago when I was feeling quite overwhelmed and low and sad and grieving for my dear old dad who was lost at that time to dementia.
It was deteriorating and we as a family were caring for him and I just felt an overwhelming wave of sadness and I just sat by this tree and I wept and I felt like this tree supported me and was present to me and I was present to it.
It allowed me just to be myself.
So I've stopped here on my walk today to say thank you for this tree in recognition for what it did all those years ago.
And also it's very apt because in the same way I stopped here a few years ago and wept,
That's what my wisdom and intuition was urging me to accept and to be present to.
Today's reflection is all about wisdom and intuition too.
And for me,
As I've gone through this change in my life,
As I've moved through the menopause,
As I've moved into elderhood,
As I've noticed that I'm in a completely different landscape in my life,
As I recognized all that,
I realized that the biggest navigational tool I've got in my life that I have used over the years,
But now feels more pressing and more,
I couldn't say more urgent,
But it just feels as though it's louder.
Is listening to intuition and wisdom.
Listening to that draw and pull within me,
The same draw and pull that had me walk a 630 mile pilgrimage across England following the Mary and Michael energy currents.
It made no sense,
That pull,
Insomuch as I was leaving behind caring responsibilities for my parents.
I was not earning any money.
I was spending money on accommodation and walking the pilgrimage and I On so many levels,
My mind and my head and my intellect said,
This is not a good idea.
But stronger than that was a draw in my heart to walk it.
And I listened.
And I know it was the right thing to do.
Absolutely 100%.
And today is an acknowledgement of listening to that for me,
But also a question for you.
Are you listening to your intuition and wisdom?
Does it feel more present for you in your life at the moment?
Maybe you've gone through a transition,
A transformation in life.
Maybe you are at a different stage in life.
You are on new territory.
In the same way that a caterpillar needs to feed on leaves and a butterfly that it transitions into needs to feed on nectar,
On flowers,
Maybe you feel as though you,
Although fundamentally you are still you at your essence and core,
Something is shifted around you that feels pressing and feels as though it wants to be heard and expressed.
So that's my question for you today.
What are you noticing about intuition and wisdom in your life?
Do you feel it calling you more loudly?
Are you more present to it?
That's the reflection for today.
Let me know what it is like for you.
I obviously want to hear from you.
Tomorrow we're going to explore more about expression,
Creative expression,
When you listen to that wisdom and intuition in your life.
But today,
Just reflect on how present are you to wisdom and intuition,
And how much do you find yourself drawn to follow it in your life?
Let me know your thoughts,
And we'll move on tomorrow to the next part of the journey,
Where we move on to exploring the creative expression of this wisdom in your life.
