Hello and welcome to your not-too-serious meditation adventure.
I'm Leigh and today I'm going to take you on a journey into the forest or maybe into your imagination or maybe just into the comfiest part of your mind.
To be honest even I'm not exactly sure but I promise it'll be fun,
Calm and just a little bit silly.
So let's begin by getting comfy.
You can sit,
Lie down or curl up like a burrito,
Whatever feels good to you.
You can close your eyes if you'd like or you can keep them open just a little so you can peek at the world just in case anything weird or magical happens.
Take a big breath in and let it out with a slow whoosh.
Let's do that again.
Inhale like you're sniffing fresh baked cookies and exhale like you're blowing on a hot chocolate.
And now let's tune into the body.
Take a moment to notice your toes.
Are they behaving or are they doing their usual toe dance?
Can you tell if they're warm or cold or maybe just perfectly toe-like?
And now check on your knees.
Yep,
Still there.
Good.
Give them a little thank you for helping you walk,
Skip and ninja kick.
Just not right now,
Please.
Take a big and feel your chest rise up like a superhero.
Breathing out and let it fall gently like a sleepy balloon.
Your body is relaxing.
And your mind might be wondering,
Is this actually a meditation or am I on a secret mission?
And honestly,
It could be both.
I'm going to head in to the forest of surprises.
So let's imagine you're standing at the start of a magical forest path.
There are tall trees,
Friendly birds singing their own silly songs.
One's definitely off key.
And a squirrel who might be winking at you.
Or maybe he just has something in his eye.
Hard to say.
As you walk into the forest,
The leaves crunch softly under your feet.
You feel calm,
Quiet and just a little bit excited.
Like you're about to find something interesting or something ridiculous.
Up ahead,
You see a little wooden cabin.
It looks like it was built by a team of very organised gnomes.
Walk up and knock on the door.
Mmm,
No one answers.
They're probably out getting snacks.
So you look around and what do you see?
A campfire pit and a rock that kind of looks like a baked potato.
And wait,
Is that an invisible moose?
Don't worry,
He's friendly.
Probably.
You decide to sit near the campfire and rest.
It feels warm and cosy,
Like your favourite jumper just gave you a big hug.
Take a deep breath in.
And as you breathe out,
Imagine tossing something silly into the fire.
Maybe a grumpy mood.
Or a stinky sock.
Or a thought that says,
I'm not good enough.
Watch it sizzle,
Spark and poof.
Gone.
And you might be wondering,
Am I still meditating?
Or am I just sitting here listening to a talking lady about an invisible moose and a weird potato rock?
The answer is yes.
This is a meditation.
And it's also a daydream.
And it's also your own little secret world where you can get to feel calm,
Curious and kind to yourself.
Take another breath.
Wiggle your fingers just to check that they haven't turned into tiny wands.
Nope,
Still fingers.
So now the campfire is getting smaller.
The smoke rises like a little curly tail up to the sky.
You feel calm,
Maybe a little floaty.
Definitely full of peaceful power.
Let your breath flow in and out like the waves at the beach.
Or like a sleepy dragon sighing after a long nap.
And it's time to return.
So slowly start to move your body.
Wriggle your toes.
Wriggle your ears if you can.
When you're ready,
Open your eyes.
You've just been on a very important mission to feel awesome and weird and relaxed all at once.
And the best part,
You can come back here anytime.
In your mind,
In your breath,
Or in your heart.
Namaste,
You magical rascal.
