The Four of Disks invites us to examine our approach to stability,

Particularly in the realms of work and finances.

It encourages us to consider how we can build and maintain our material foundations,

Balancing the need for security with the potential for growth.

This card prompts us to reflect on our handling of physical resources,

Encouraging us not to become too rigid or guarded in our quest for stability.

In this active imagination exercise,

We explore the dynamic between safeguarding what we've achieved and embracing opportunities for expansion and flexibility.

So first just making sure you're comfortable,

Whether seated or lying down,

Adopting a stable posture that is both relaxed and alert.

Close your eyes and just take a couple of deep breaths and allow the mind and body just to come to a natural place of rest.

Keep your attention on the breath for now.

And if at any point you do get distracted,

Just bring the attention back to the exercise.

And now imagine yourself in a space that embodies your sense of security.

This could be a metaphorical stronghold,

A fortress,

Some kind of indoor setting,

Any place that represents your accumulated resources and stability.

Take a walk around this space.

Observe how it is structured and organized.

Note any aspects that convey solidity and those that might feel restrictive.

In this space,

A figure begins to form.

This figure is a custodian of your resources and achievements.

Take a moment to take in their appearance more closely.

Notice their attire,

Their posture,

Any markings or objects they might be carrying.

You're going to enter a dialogue with this figure and ask them a series of questions.

Simply state each question to the figure and observe how they respond.

How do my strategies for maintaining stability support my life's goals?

Where might I be limiting my potential for growth due to my focus on security?

What can I learn about balancing protection with openness to change?

And now for a few moments,

Engage in an open dialogue with this figure.

This is your chance to say whatever you'd like to say.

Perhaps ask some new questions and observe how the figure responds.

Having concluded your conversation,

Decide now on some kind of action within this space.

You might rearrange something in the environments,

Open a previously closed area,

Or perhaps give a gift to the figure.

After taking this action,

Observe its effects in the surrounding environment and your feelings of security.

So just allowing the scene to fade now.

And remember it can be useful to journal the experience after the exercise.

So it's bringing your attention back to the space around you now.

Noticing any sounds or sensations.

Taking a deep breath and opening your eyes again in your own time.
