I invite you to take a deep breath here with me.
Not a perfect one,
Just a real one.
Dropping into this moment and let it fill your body and then let it go.
I want to talk about something truly sacred here.
Something that might sound strange at first to some of you,
But stay here with me.
When you bring life into this world,
When you become a parent,
Your child chooses you.
Your child chose you.
Not by accident,
Not by luck or coincidence.
Your child's soul chose to come through you and your partner.
Through your body,
Through your love,
Through your flaws,
Through your history,
Through your pain,
Through your potential,
Through the exact lineage that shaped you into who you are today.
And they didn't choose you so that you could raise them.
They chose you to raise you as well.
I'm going to say that again.
Your children don't just choose you so you can raise them.
They choose you to raise you too.
So here's the truth.
Children aren't here to fit into your life like accessories.
They're here to wake you up.
They're here to elevate the consciousness in this planet.
They're here to stretch your heart.
They're to poke at your triggers.
And trust me,
I know how hard that could be,
How challenging that is.
Children are here to act as a mirror,
So precise,
So raw,
That you have no choice but to see yourself more clearly.
When we look at parenting in this light,
Parenting is not just a job.
Parenting is a spiritual practice.
It's not just about teaching them how to walk through the world.
It's about remembering how to walk through the world yourself with more presence,
With more truth,
With more love,
With more power,
More direction.
Have you ever wondered why your child can push your buttons like no one else?
Why one look,
One word,
One tonal cry,
One question can send a ripple through your entire nervous system.
It's not because you are broken.
It's because they are touching something that is already inside of you.
Something that is ready to be seen.
A generational trauma that's ready to be broken.
Something that maybe hasn't been held in a long,
Long time,
If ever.
Children are brilliant at this.
Not because they're trying to heal you,
But because they are the medicine.
They cry when they need to cry.
They laugh without apology.
They get angry,
Sad,
Playful,
And curious all in one breath.
Perhaps sometimes in just several minutes span,
They can go from angry,
Sad,
To playful,
And curious in just a few minutes.
And they don't wear masks.
They don't know how to be anyone other than who they are.
And when you are around that kind of freedom,
Something in you remembers.
Something in you remembers who you were before the world told you who to be.
Something in you remembers the parts of you that had to go quiet in order to survive.
Something in you remembers the little one inside of you who still longs to be seen,
To be held,
To feel truly safe.
So when your child lashes out or melts down or refuses to listen,
Pause and ask yourself,
What's being stirred up in me?
And you can do this after,
Of course,
In journaling or in a council or in a session with a practitioner that you work with.
When your child lashes out or melts down or refuses to listen,
Take a pause and ask,
What's being stirred up in me?
Because often the part of us that wants to control our kids is the part of us that was never allowed to just be.
What if every challenge then with your child was really an invitation?
Not an invitation to fix them,
But to feel yourself.
To make yourself whole once again.
To remember.
Not to be perfect,
But to be present.
There's a reason that some ancient traditions say the Word of God is not found in books but in breath.
That every inhale is a prayer,
Every exhale a return.
So breathe.
And as you breathe,
Know this,
With each breath you are not just parenting your child,
You are reparenting yourself.
You are tending to the parts of you that were once ignored.
You are being presenced to patterns passed down through generations.
You are being invited to break generational trauma.
You are healing what your parents could not.
What their parents did not know how to.
And yes,
It's hard.
It's likely going to be the most challenging work you've ever done in your entire life.
And yes,
Yeah,
It's exhausting.
But it's also sacred.
Because when you choose to meet your child with presence instead of punishment,
With curiosity instead of control,
With love instead of fear,
Something shifts.
Not just in your home,
But in your lineage,
In your body,
In the world,
In the way in which you walk in the world.
You stop the cycle.
You shift the story.
You become the kind of ancestor your descendants will thank.
And maybe that's what your child's soul knew all along.
That in choosing you,
They weren't just choosing a parent.
They were choosing a partner in awakening.
So take another breath here with me.
Let this truth settle deep inside your bones.
You were chosen,
Not because you're perfect,
But because you are ready.
Ready to see.
Ready to feel.
Ready to grow.
You and your child growing each other.
One moment.
One breath.
One breakthrough at a time.
Thanks so much for listening.
Thanks for being here.
And thank you for doing this sacred work.
