Close your eyes and allow a gentle smile on your face and see that you are experiencing this smile fully as if you are first time exploring your smile.
Very honestly,
Become curious to the sensations of your smile.
As you know,
Paying attention to the sensations of our smile is our silent mantra.
See the effect of your smile on your forehead,
The effect of your smile on the muscles of your eyes,
The softening of it,
How your cheeks and lips and mouth have softened.
Even the back of your head has relaxed.
Your mind,
Your brain,
Your skull,
Your entire face has started to relax.
I'd like you to remember this simple experiential meditation next time when you are in a difficult circumstance.
Just smile,
Very gentle smile,
Only perceptible to your own senses so that it doesn't look like you are smiling at or laughing at the situation or the person,
But you internally know you are smiling and see how situation softens and gives you a ray of light,
A spark of wisdom that may just help you out with that conversation,
With that situation,
It may be your own self-reaction.
Try this,
A gentle smile,
Awareness of that smile and then whatever appears after that smile becomes the thread of wisdom with which you could perhaps guide that conversation or guide your reaction to the situation.
Continue to smile and really pay attention to the sensations of your smile.
Know that this is your most natural face and you are not exercising your face.
This is not face yoga as people perceive yoga to be,
But this is your own technique to ensure that there is equilibrium.
And now become aware of your body,
Become aware of your whole body as one sensation,
A pool of sensation,
But still one experience and see how the whole body has sensed the smiling face.
See how the whole body is now affected by your smile,
Allowing that smile to descend and then transcend your body.
The smile has pervaded your entire body.
All muscles of your body,
All organs of your body are at rest.
And the smile is permeating through the porous boundary of your skin and has started to affect the environment that you are in,
The space that you are in.
And now that the space around you is also smiling,
Collaborating with you,
Is in harmony with you,
Is one with you,
You have let go of the boundaries of body you have transcended the concept of limited self.
You have become one with the space.
Or rather,
You have become aware that you are always one with this space.
And you smile.
Smile because of that recognition.
And this recognition is making you smile.
