This meditation is meant to help you whenever you're feeling discouraged or upset about your life,
Your body,
Or any tough situation that you're going through.
When things go wrong in our eyes,
We do our utmost to try to change them for the better.
While this works well for problems or situations that require immediate attention,
It doesn't serve us at all when the solution isn't clear,
Or when we're trying to change a situation that cannot be changed just yet.
And therefore,
We end up fighting the situation,
Wishing that things were different,
And all this does is create tension in the body.
If you have chronic pain or symptoms,
This problem-fixing attitude will obstruct progress by keeping your brain and body on high alert,
Unable to totally release.
So today,
Let's release some of that tension.
Please find a comfortable armchair or a bed in a quiet room where you can comfortably allow my voice to guide you.
Sit or lie down,
Imagining that you're dropping your body onto the bed or chair after a hard day's work,
Or after a big outdoor adventure.
You've done all you could with what you had today,
And you now know that there is nothing else to do.
You can forget about your deadlines or other to-dos,
And just allow yourself to soak into this moment of peace.
Let your arms drop heavily by your side,
And let your shoulders drop as well.
Don't try to hold your body in any rigid way,
You can let it all go during this meditation.
Just breathe naturally,
And feel your body get heavier on that chair or bed,
As if it is slowly sinking into it.
Maybe as you breathe out,
You can also let out a little sigh,
Signaling to your body that it can just let go.
So breathe in,
And out.
You have nothing else to do,
Nothing else to fix right now.
Nothing else to do,
Nothing else to fix.
For the next few seconds,
I'd like you to recall all of the things you've been desperately wanting to change.
It could be chronic pain or a symptom in your body,
Which has had you worried or constantly looking for a solution.
It could be another situation which isn't immediately solvable,
Or anything that you don't like about your life right now.
Visualize this constant struggle to fix or change things,
Envisioning yourself trying to push against a brick wall with no success.
It's as if the more you try,
The harder it gets.
You've done so many things,
Tried so many fixes,
And nothing has worked yet.
And now,
I'd like you to imagine your higher self pulling yourself out of this situation.
You've just realized that this won't do.
You don't want to be a part of this struggle anymore.
And so,
You decide to no longer push against this wall.
You're on your own,
In this comfortable chair or bed,
With nothing to do but soak into this moment.
So,
Breathe in,
And breathe out all the bit through your mouth,
Letting that out-breath be as long as it wants to.
You've got nothing else to do,
Nothing else to fix.
And out.
Can you notice that sense of relief that creeps in,
As you realize that you have nothing to fix or change right now?
Take a moment to soak into the feeling that this idea creates for you.
You're free of the struggle.
You're trusting that things will work out when you let go.
It's not about fighting anymore.
Now,
Put your attention on your feet and start scanning your whole body,
Noticing if there are any areas of tension anywhere in your body.
Set the intention to let go even more if you feel that you're tensing any part of the body.
Move your attention up through both legs,
To the groins and hip.
Set the intention to release any tension in these areas.
Just let it all go.
Then move your attention up to your belly and lower back.
Imagine that everything is loosening up,
Even if you can't feel it.
Notice your hands now.
Make sure that they are hanging limply by your side.
You're not trying to hold yourself up in any rigid way.
You're letting the chair or the bed totally support you.
And finally,
Move your attention up to your chest and to the neck area,
Scanning for any pockets of tension on the body.
And then up your face to the top of your head and the back of your head.
Try to let go even more in these areas.
Nothing else to do.
Nothing else to fix.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
And release.
The brick wall is gone.
The problems you're worrying about aren't so important anymore.
You can drop the fight and really be with what there is right now.
If there is still pain or discomfort in your body,
Accept that it is there.
Decide to be okay with it for now,
Remembering that every sensation is temporary.
Your body will release if you just let go of the fight.
If there is a problem that creeps up in your mind,
Pretend you're shelving it away for now.
You don't want that drama anymore.
You don't want to fight it.
You don't want to be in a constant struggle.
That is not the way.
So breathe in.
And breathe out.
Notice the stillness that you're left with as you surrender to the sweetness of the present moment.
It's liberating to let go of wanting to change things or wishing them to be other than what they are.
And the decision to let go is always yours.
So take a few seconds to bask into the stillness of this moment,
Remembering that you can always come back to it if life is beginning to feel like a struggle.
You can always drop the fight and you don't need to hold it all together.
Instead,
You can trust that when you let go,
Things will resolve on their own and everything will work out in the end.
