Welcome,
Everyone,
To this body relaxation meditation as we journey to your favorite beach,
Seeking to find peace and calm and letting go of any negative thoughts or feelings you may have experienced today.
To begin,
Lie down,
Extending your legs and letting your arms rest alongside your body if this feels comfortable for you.
Close your eyes and begin to notice the natural rhythm of your breath.
Let the rhythm of your breath begin to soothe and calm you.
Now,
In your mind's eye,
Picture your favorite beach.
It can be one near you or perhaps a place where you've traveled or maybe it's a beach that you've seen an image of and want to visit someday.
Begin to walk along the sand dunes with each step you take,
With each breath you take.
Begin to let yourself relax.
Up ahead,
You'll see a set of stairs leading down to the beach.
Pause at the top of the stairs and take a deep breath in and exhale.
Look out over the blue sky,
The sunshine,
And the rolling ocean waves.
The salt air around you is filled with positive ions.
Again,
Take a deep breath in,
Breathing in positive energy,
And exhale,
Letting go of any negativity in your life.
There are six steps leading down to the beach.
With each step,
Allow yourself to relax and let go.
Stepping from six to five,
Relax your forehead,
Relax your eyes,
Let them be heavy in their sockets,
Relax your nose,
Your mouth,
Your jaw.
Stepping from five to four,
Relax your shoulders and your upper back.
We hold a lot of tension there.
Just let it go.
Let your arms relax and your hands,
Let them be light as air.
And stepping from four to three,
Relax your chest and your belly,
Your rib cage.
And pausing to notice the rise and fall of your belly as you breathe,
Letting it calm you.
Again,
Inhaling that positive energy,
Letting go of anything negative or stressful.
Stepping from three to two,
Relax your hips and your lower back,
Letting them soften.
Again,
Another place where we hold tension,
Hold feelings,
Let it go.
Stepping from two to one,
Relaxing your legs,
Your thighs,
Your calves,
Your ankles,
And your feet.
Let your body be totally relaxed.
And now leaving the stairs and stepping onto the beach,
Feel the soft warmth of the sand beneath your feet.
As you look up the beach,
You'll see a blanket waiting for you.
Go ahead and walk towards the blanket and take a seat.
For the next few minutes,
Allow yourself to sit,
Basking in the sun,
Watching the waves roll in and out.
Breathe in positive energy,
Peace,
Calm,
Contentment.
Allow the waves to wash away all negative thoughts,
Feelings,
Tension,
Anxiety.
Just let it go.
And it's time to pack up your towel and begin to bring awareness back into your body.
Start with some small movements in your fingers and your toes,
Maybe wiggling your eyebrows or bringing a smile to your lips.
And then gradually making some bigger movements with your arms and your legs,
Maybe stretching like you're waking up in the morning.
