Hello and welcome to this talk about killers of inspiration.
Today we are looking at insecurity.
Insecurity happens after fear.
Of course your inspiration cannot just face one enemy.
There will be a sequel and a sequel after a sequel and the hero that is your inspiration should overcome every villain in every episode of this epic drama that is your creativity.
So when you have overcome your fears and you have decided to create something,
You have decided not to give power to your fears and doubts but you have decided to give power to your imagination as we've discussed in the previous talk about fear as a killer of inspiration.
After you've decided to do it you may logically feel very light and capable to take a first step,
Very eager to take that paintbrush and put that first stroke onto this beautiful blank canvas or maybe take some first step in creating a new business venture whatever it is you are creating and then in this first or second or third step suddenly you may start feeling insecure and insecurity manifests differently than fear.
While fear is abstract and omnipresent it is just everywhere and nowhere.
It's just like this general darkness that paralyzes you from any kind of action.
Insecurity is more targeted.
It's like those specific shadows and shapes that you see in the dark that remind you of some ghosts or monsters and you start being anxious and worried and you beware exactly those specific monsters that could hurt you.
So it could be an imposter syndrome.
It could be some childhood trauma that is telling you that you're just not good enough.
It could be something else.
It could be a previous mistake that comes back to you and reminds you that you have once failed and you may fail again and the failure was not such a pleasant experience or it may just be this feeling of being lost,
Disorientation.
You have never been here and you've taken this first step but now you don't know where to go and you are all alone.
Will you be strong enough to take this plane off of the ground?
This metaphor of a plane that you are trying to accelerate so fast that it eventually flies is very very useful and matching for this battle between insecurity that is the force of gravity holding you down and that inspired action that is the engine trying to help this plane take off.
And there is really a huge effort that you need to undertake in that first moment of acceleration because indeed it takes more strength to take off than to then maintain the motion once your plane is flying or your car is driving fast or your creative project is already on track.
So to get there into this inspired action this takes power.
The concept of inspired action is often looked at in this stream of self development,
Fulfillment and I also appreciate this concept because action is very powerful but without inspiration it may be misdirected.
Our inspiration has previously helped us overcome our fears and just have this dream.
It has a unique imprint like a theme or a vibe to it.
Every idea that we have is like this melody that is present in a larger musical piece that you may be listening to or composing.
There is this theme or in a larger novel there is often a theme that repeats itself and it's like this an underlying idea,
Foundational idea that keeps the whole piece together.
And this idea should be present in every action step that you take.
Be that this first stroke of your paintbrush or the second or 100th stroke or the general you know sketching and composition or just choosing the canvases and you know it's a metaphor.
I'm not actually a painter even though I've dabbled a bit and it's really fun until you know until you understand that you're not a painter and you stop having the inspiration.
That's exactly why I've stopped with painting that I've tried for just a bit because I understood that I don't have the bigger idea behind it and I've had a couple of pieces that had some idea to them but once the ideas stopped coming I just didn't feel the power anymore to uplift any of my future paintings from the ground.
Exactly this was this insecurity that I've had that I didn't see clearly what every painting every next painting would end up like and even not only in the sense of a specific image but in a sense of that vibe that I liked it.
So when we start doing something just because we think we need to do something but we don't actually have any theme any vibe in it it's very easy to get exhausted and unmotivated and that's what kills our inspiration.
So you may even achieve some sort of a success in that way but probably it will not be aligned with your original inspiration.
So the way I can recommend to to do to face this fear is really to keep faith in your original inspiration to come back to it to invent some mantra about it to put some posters motivational stickers whatever works for you and come back to the original idea time and time again and do so not only mentally but through action and if you feel paralyzed and you are just unable to act really even simplest things like cleaning your house doing something that is very action-heavy I don't know going volunteering for a day to help in some dog shelter with some you know intense work or at some construction to help maybe your relatives at their home repairs whatever action that is just taking you out of the stagnation it is very healthy in this stage if you don't feel the power because every step you take every result that you produce even the cleaned washed dishes that were not washed before and after your effort they have become clean and you see that there is power in you to do something every such step gives more power to you more impulse to this plane that is trying to take off and in this moment you just cannot stop acting of course you need to rest you need to decompress and go to sleep at some point but actually in the period of inspired action even if you have those all-nighters one or two won't hurt you know action is priority action will help you get out of that insecurity but again only if it is aligned with your inspiration with your values each such a light action will crack open those chains that are you know pulling you to the ground and each each such action will eventually set you free so this is the message this is the remedy that I suggest against insecurity as the killer of inspiration I wish a lot of energy to you to act on your goals and dreams and if you try acting and somehow it doesn't work write in the comments reach out and we will brainstorm on how else one can approach this beast of insecurity for now I hope that you conquer it and you progress in an inspired way towards your dreams and along your creative process be well
