This is the tale of the wandering horse.
Have you ever tried to keep a wild stallion in one place?
It's impossible.
No one person has the strength it takes to hold down a wild horse.
A wild horse is simply too strong and too stubborn to let itself be held or to stay in one place.
They naturally want to roam and wander on their own.
But imagine you are standing in the middle of a big space,
A large open field.
The wild horse is on the end of a slack rope that you're holding onto,
But you're giving the horse all the space it needs to roam free.
It doesn't feel trapped.
Now imagine you place one hand over the other and very gently shorten the length of the rope by just a little bit,
Less than an inch.
If you do this gently and kindly,
Inch by inch,
Over time with patience,
The horse won't notice the difference.
This is how you begin to tame a wild horse,
With gentleness,
Kindness,
Inch by inch,
And patience.
Now you may already know the secret,
But your mind is the wild horse.
Approach it with kindness when it wanders and tame it inch by inch over time.
Some days your mind will pull on the rope,
Yank it back even.
When that happens,
Remember the tale of taming the wild horse and approach your mind with patience and love.
This is how you begin the journey of training your mind and thoughts.
