This is a short, functional practice for the moment in the afternoon when the day stops being something you're moving through and starts being something that's moving through you. It starts where you actually are: mid-accumulation, probably still thinking about three other things, not particularly ready to meditate. That's fine. It works from there. The practice covers three things in five minutes: a deliberate slowdown using extended exhale breathing, which sends a direct signal to the parasympathetic nervous system; a quick body check to locate where the day has settled physically; and one reorienting question that briefly cuts through urgency and reconnects you to what actually matters before you keep going. It's especially useful for people who carry stress physically (shoulders, jaw, chest) and for those who find themselves running on task-momentum rather than genuine clarity by mid-afternoon.
