So begin by closing your eyes or lowering your gaze,
Whatever is more comfortable for you.
And then focus on your breath.
Begin to pay attention to where you're breathing from.
Is it in your throat,
Your chest,
Deeper in your belly?
No need to change it.
Just notice and continue to follow your breathing,
Allowing your breathing to relax your body,
Relaxing your head,
Your face,
Your jaw,
Relaxing your neck.
And as you begin to relax your neck,
Your shoulders,
Your arms,
And your hands can relax.
And again,
Following your breath,
Allowing your breath to relax your chest,
Your belly,
All the way down to your legs and your feet.
Continuing to relax.
And now I want you to picture yourself walking on a beach or a park.
Pick your favorite way that you like to walk.
Do you prefer the beach and feel the toes in your sand?
Do you prefer a park where it's green and lush and peaceful?
And as you're walking and looking out into the distance,
You see the figure of a person.
You can't make out who it is yet.
But there is a draw,
A pull,
Something about this person that has you want to even speed up just so that you can get closer.
And so you do.
You quicken your pace a little bit from your curiosity.
Noticing that your heart even feels a little more expanded or excited.
Or just noticing the love and care.
You can't see who this person is,
But you feel it.
So then you get closer and closer.
And the closer you get,
You begin to realize this is someone familiar.
Someone familiar,
Yet someone you have lost.
Either to death or the ending of a relationship.
Someone you haven't seen in a while,
And yet your heart misses.
And now you're close enough to see who they are.
Your pace quickens.
You notice a smile on your face.
And you may even want to place your hand on your heart as an acknowledgement of your depth of love and care for this person.
And as you approach,
You embrace a deep,
Long reconnecting hug.
Now feels like no time has passed.
And notice what is the feeling in their presence?
As you pull away and sit down on the bench right by them and face one another,
Gazing into each other's eyes.
Grateful to be with this person.
And so take a moment now while you're in their presence.
To just let them know how you have missed them.
What you've been doing,
What life has been like since they've been gone.
Notice their loving eyes,
Their sweet smile,
Their acceptance and willingness to listen,
To hold space for you.
So take a minute.
And now as you spent this time being with them and sharing with them,
Take the time to ask them any questions you have.
What is it that you want to know?
Is there anything that you didn't get to complete with them that you would like to do now?
You know that this time is limited.
And so take another moment to share,
To ask questions,
To listen.
Listen to them.
Now the time has come for you to part once again.
And at the same time,
You know that if you ever want to meet up with them again,
Speak more,
Listen more,
Connect,
That you can come back to this spot anytime you want.
So the two of you stand and embrace again,
Long,
Loving,
Gentle embrace,
Full of gratitude and appreciation for this time together once again.
And after you embrace,
They turn.
And before they turn and walk away,
They take one more long moment to look directly in your eyes and remind you of who you are.
And you see back very clearly who they are.
And then they turn around and begin to walk away.
And you stand there and watch them,
Watching them until you can no longer see them.
And once again,
You place your hands on your heart in full gratitude for this moment,
This experience,
And then begin once again,
To focus on the natural and gentle rhythm of your breath,
Using your breath to bring you back to this moment,
This moment,
This place where you currently are becoming aware of your legs and feet,
Your arms and hands.
And as soon as you're ready,
You can open your eyes and it can be a good time to journal or to share with a friend your experience.
