How To Turn Your Passions Into A Career Or Business
by Raj Gorsia
I often get asked how I got into the work I do, it's both an enchanting and difficult road that led me here. But it's one of passion and pain turning into purpose. I know there are a lot of people out there that want to turn their skills into reality, and eventually turn it into a career. It's a courageous act to walk down this path. So this recording is for you, for you that want to tread down the alternative path. If you find this session valuable, write to me, I want to speak to you.
Transcript
With that in mind,
Speaking our words into existence,
Today's session is something really exciting to me.
And I know that you're here for a specific reason.
That's what I love about this.
Because I wrote,
How to Turn Your Passions into Career or Business.
That's the title of this session,
Right?
And a lot of the times I've been running sessions and I've noticed there are people who are thinking and feeling in this way,
Right?
They've got these talents and there's something inside of them that wants to create something.
So I thought,
Let me just start running these direct sessions of speaking on this topic and then the people that want to know about that will come.
People that want to know about that will come directly.
I'm still going to run other sessions,
But I thought this would be a great opportunity to speak directly to some of you guys.
And really what I want to share today is some of my journey.
Because I often have this where people are contacting me saying,
Hey,
Raj,
Like what you're doing is really cool.
I want to do something kind of similar,
Even if it's something completely different like,
Hey,
Raj,
I want to write a book.
It's similar in the sense that it's a self-expression.
It's expressing the potential that's inside someone,
Right?
This feeling,
This knowing,
This thing that wants to burst out of us.
It's different in the sense that,
Yeah,
I might be doing a different form of that.
I have a coaching business.
I have coaching people one-to-one and in groups.
What I'm doing is helping people to express themselves and I'm expressing myself as well.
So I see that as being the driver for turning your passion into something first.
Let's start at that point,
Turning a passion into something before we start talking about turning it into a business.
So why do I say that?
Let me give you a quick background of me.
I do this all the time.
If you've heard this before,
You're just going to hear it again.
And I hope that's okay.
Some people haven't been here,
Right?
So I was challenged with being stuck in my head,
Let's just call it,
For my whole life.
I even wrote an article about this,
Which if anyone wants,
I can send you.
I wrote about how I used to be the potential guy and knew inside.
So many times in my life I've known something else could have come out from me.
I knew I had so much potential,
But I couldn't tap into it.
Something blocked me.
I had these ideas,
You know,
I had all these ideas and just something was blocking me.
And I figured out through all of the inner work I did,
Let's call it,
That I had a lot of fears of rejection.
And being unloved,
I had this belief that I was unloved.
And I had a lot of shame,
A lot of shame.
I didn't even know what shame was before.
I didn't know what any of this stuff was.
But there was a ton of things that were holding me back.
So anyway,
Fast forward,
Got into health and fitness.
And really,
It felt great because it was like for the first time in my life,
I had something I could work on and I can create for myself.
So for me,
In that form,
It was I create a body,
You know,
The term body building.
I was literally building my body from nothing.
So cool.
I was fascinated by it.
I was amazed.
I was a skinny guy.
I was really,
Really skinny.
I was amazed by this.
Wow,
I can actually build this thing in me.
Like this is one thing,
One time where I don't really this whole like worry or fears and stuff is not in the way.
I can do this.
This is cool.
So I got obsessed with it.
I got obsessed with it.
I got really big.
It was a it was just so much fun.
I thought it would give me inner peace and confidence.
So I just I kept doing more of it.
I got into running,
Boxing,
CrossFit.
I got into really got into nutrition,
Like to the depths of it,
Every bit of it.
And I just still couldn't find like this.
I still wasn't satisfied.
It was just something felt like I wasn't calm.
It wasn't giving me the calm that I thought it really was.
So I got into yoga.
That completely opened my life up and just showed up to a class someday and it opened up everything.
And then this whole development path began,
Let's call it.
And throughout the whole process,
There was this like this drive,
This this passion for it,
For learning.
How does the mind work?
Oh,
How does food work?
Oh,
When I do this,
This is this is what happens.
So then,
Like as it developed.
As I started getting transformations occurring,
Becoming calmer.
And people sometimes even ask me these days,
They say to me,
Raj,
Was your voice always so calm?
And I say,
No,
It wasn't actually.
It's a really good question.
It reminds me.
I think it was maybe at times,
Rare times when I was really being myself.
But most of the time,
My voice was a mix of like hearing other people's voices.
And it's all like speaking like someone else or trying to put on a trying to sound good or trying to use good language.
And it was all an effort thing,
You know,
An effort thing,
As well as an unconscious thing,
Picking up things from people,
You know.
So anyway,
I started having all of this freedom inside because I was really I really got into a discipline of being a yogi,
Being a yogi and also being a person who really understands their body and mind and spirit,
You can call it as well.
I'm not saying I'm complete.
I'm an enlightened being.
None of that.
I'm still doing work.
I really got to this place where I said,
Well,
Wouldn't it be wonderful if I if I can meet a past version of me and start helping them?
That'd be amazing.
That would actually be like the highest the highest experience because I'd feel their pain.
I'd know what they're going through.
I really know it.
Right.
So then I decided like there's a whole long story in between this.
I went traveling for two years,
Left my career,
My nine to five and left it completely.
There's all sorts of stuff going on in between.
I took courses.
I took tons of like professional courses along the way.
And then,
Yeah,
I just started doing it.
So that's that's kind of the story of how I started using my passions and turning it into a business.
It came from what do I feel like?
I've been on a journey with.
A journey with that I feel so passionate about.
If I see someone who's like me,
I want to help that person be amazing.
And that can be my business.
Oh,
Wow.
Wow,
Like it's amazing.
It's amazing.
Of course,
I didn't know how I'd figure this out.
I didn't know how it would work.
How do you how do you make this into a business?
So I was wondering,
How do you make this into a business?
No idea.
I just started figuring out steps.
So with that said,
What I want to know in the chat before we continue,
And this is my kind of like really getting to know you guys being intimate.
I thought to myself,
How can I create intimacy in a group situation in the same way that I do one to one with a person?
That's mostly how I work one to one or in smaller groups,
Let's say.
How can I create intimacy?
So the first thing was,
Let me ask questions just like I would with someone if I was in front of them.
The first question,
Guys,
If you're willing to play,
To play.
And remember,
We're just playing here.
It doesn't this doesn't mean anything right now.
It's just a way to engage with you and to know what you're playing with.
So the first question is.
What is the passion that you want to turn into a career or business?
What is that?
Put it in the chat,
Guys.
I want to hear.
I'm very excited.
I'm very excited.
So everyone that shares,
I'll read some of them out and skim through and really get a feel for who's here,
Who's here.
I'm not here to just speak things into the into the void and just I'm not here to talk theory or information.
I'm really here for transformation.
And what that means is you're here and I want to see ways that I can support everything you're saying.
So hopefully that's not pressure is more of a like,
Let's let's talk.
Let's see what's going on.
What's going on in your life?
So put it in the chat.
What is a passion you have that you would like to turn into a career or business?
And that could be,
Hey,
I want to do this as a side hustle.
I want to make a tiny bit of cash from this.
Even that's OK.
Even that's OK.
Or it might not even be you want to turn it into a business or career,
But just something you want to make in the world,
A passion that you want to turn from idea into real.
So that could be,
For example,
Like a few weeks ago,
There's a guy in one of my sessions who said,
I want to write a book.
I've been wanting to do this for years.
And in that session,
We got him to do it.
We I was just like this in this session,
Just like this.
He committed.
He said,
I'm going to email you,
Raj.
I'm going to tell you how it went.
I said,
OK,
Seven days,
Right?
Every single day,
Are you going to do it?
He said yes.
And he emailed me two days ago and he said,
Raj,
This is how it's going.
Now his book's getting created.
It's happening.
Because he's got some driver behind it and emailing me has kept him accountable.
So put it in the chat.
What is it you want to create?
What is the passion that you want to turn into existence?
The idea that you want to turn into reality.
It doesn't matter if you want to make it make it into a business yet or not.
If you do want to put it into a business,
Tell me that as well.
I'm really interested.
Put it in the chat guys.
I'd love to hear ideas.
There are people have all different ideas.
So it's very personal to you,
Right?
It doesn't matter what anyone else is saying in the chat.
Whatever it is for you.
Whatever it is for you.
First time here.
Nice.
I'm glad you're connecting.
Who's that?
Siddy.
Yeah.
Nice to see you.
And someone said,
I don't know.
Let me go up a bit.
Still figuring it out.
Okay,
Great.
Awesome.
Yeah.
If you're,
If you're in that figuring out,
So that's fine too,
By the way,
You don't have to have it all figured out.
What I'd say if someone said to me,
They're still figuring it out.
I'd say,
Yeah,
What are some of the ideas you have?
And again,
Like none of that from me,
When I ask these questions,
None of this is coming from,
I'm going to judge anything you say.
I'm very curious.
It's like if we were in a,
In a store and we were choosing a plant to buy,
It's like that.
We were,
We were looking at plants.
That's how I want to talk to you guys.
We're looking at plants right now.
Oh,
There's a purple one.
Oh,
There's a blue one.
Nice.
Oh,
There's a,
There's a red one.
Oh,
Cool.
That's how I want to,
That's the energy I want to bring to this conversation.
So if you're sharing,
It's,
It's just think of it in that way.
You don't need to have it figured out.
It's just whatever comes up for you.
So painting someone put,
Hmm,
Nice.
Do you want to sell your painting?
Because that,
That sounds interesting.
And someone else said they in the beginning to find out.
Okay,
Great.
Awesome.
Issue is not knowing what the passion is.
Hmm.
Okay.
Okay.
Interesting.
I might come back to that one.
First time here.
Okay.
Yeah.
You connect with me.
Okay,
Great.
And the gift of grace I possess.
Ooh,
Let's,
Let's hear more about that.
How did,
How does sharing your light look in the world?
How would that be?
What would you be doing?
If I was watching you,
What,
What,
How would,
What would I be seeing you do?
And left my job as a teacher to start holistic wellness coaching and homeschooling.
Oh,
Cool.
Nice.
Yeah.
I connect with quite a lot of wellness coaches and a lot of coaches in general,
Of course,
Because that's kind of what I do.
Right.
So yeah.
Great to hear that you you're in that place.
What else?
A cake and a tape.
Hmm.
Nice.
Passion is movement,
Meditation and the mind.
Ooh,
Nice.
That's a good combination.
Being a fairy,
Spreading love through art.
Ah,
It's beautiful.
Selling your art.
Okay.
Yeah.
What therapy?
Okay.
Yeah.
Well,
It's building up now.
You're adding more to this.
Yeah.
Art therapy.
Yeah.
Therapy is awesome.
I think it's awesome.
Like using things like body or like getting,
Just getting into the creative space with someone because we're really,
Um,
Well,
Not all of us,
But a lot of us are logical or we just like,
We get getting in the thinking mind with a lot of stuff,
You know?
So if you can help someone get into a creative space as a,
As an act of liberating them,
Powerful.
That's a lot of what I'm doing as well.
Um,
It's basically a creative process that I'm going through with someone because logic has its place when it's like,
Okay,
I'll say to someone,
When are you going to get that done?
Um,
How much time do you need?
Yeah.
We sometimes we need that logic,
But the creativity is that's where these amazing ideas come from.
All right.
What else?
There's a lot of artists here.
I'm seeing someone said they came to your mind was an exhibit of your artwork.
Oh,
Cool.
Nice.
Yeah.
A lot of artists here.
Uh,
What else?
Let me just see what else.
Yeah.
Everyone's starting to share now.
Okay.
Let me see.
It's funny because like when a few people start sharing,
Then it just starts coming in.
So feel free to be that person or feel free to just wait till other people share,
You know,
Whatever serves you.
So passion is my art writing creations,
Having a bit of an existential crisis.
Hmm.
Yeah.
So you're having all these questions of how will this be?
Exchanging it for money.
Yes.
That's a good question.
That's a good one.
That one comes up a lot.
That one comes up a lot for everyone.
Anyone that wants to go into a business,
Especially if it's service driven or heart driven based on something you're passionate about the money topic always comes up always,
No matter what came up for me as well.
So I just want to say great that you're having these thoughts.
Like I always say to people,
If you're feeling like an imposter,
I'm not trying to get rid of that for you.
I'm not trying to get,
If I'm working with a client and they're feeling like an imposter,
I'm not trying to get rid of their imposter syndrome.
I want them to look at it differently.
I want them to see great,
I'm feeling like an imposter.
That means I'm going into something which is different and is challenging and it requires more from me.
Great.
I don't want it to be all comfortable because it like,
What are you doing then if it feels all easy?
If it feels easy and there's no self doubt then what's going on there?
I want there to be a little bit of that.
My next session is on Thursday and it's about how to fully live life despite the doubts.
So I'm going to talk a bit more about that on Thursday.
Let me see what else there is.
Public speaking,
Women's groups are nice.
That'd be awesome.
What else?
Oh Naomi,
What's up?
Oh you've gone,
It's disappeared.
I like to do many things.
Only enthusiastic for a while.
Ah,
That's a good one as well.
When we have these ideas and stuff,
We might take a few actions and then we're like,
Hmm,
All this stuff creeps in like life and time and then our enthusiasm,
Our belief in ourselves,
All this stuff comes up and it stops everything.
I've had so many times where I've said to myself,
Huh,
Maybe this isn't for me.
So many times.
But I haven't acted upon that.
I've just heard the thoughts,
You know,
And carried on.
So I'd say that to you if you're in this,
You know,
Feeling this way,
Doubt is fine.
It's okay.
Right,
What else?
Combining facilitating breathwork with dance.
That would be awesome.
I think people need a lot of that as well.
Dance.
That kind of like modality of using dance as a way to help people express themselves and feel free.
Powerful stuff.
And I see it getting more and more popular now.
So if that's what you want to do,
I'm seeing that becoming something that will grow for sure.
It's going to grow.
So you're there at a good time.
I don't know if you know that.
Maybe you know that already,
But I want to tell you that anyway.
Um,
What else?
A lot of fly flew over your head to confirm.
Ha ha.
Interesting.
Yeah.
Okay.
So what insight are you having from that?
What's going to happen from that?
I'd love to know.
No worries if you're late.
Whoever just said that.
Um.
What else?
Someone said they quit their job six years ago to pursue art and fashion and it hasn't been easy.
Well,
It's the best move.
Yeah.
Nice.
And I think that the general consensus I hear from people like it's not easy,
You know,
Not easy doing this stuff,
But then there's always this like,
Ah,
It was worth it kind of thing.
So I think I've read everyone's okay.
So my question was for Maggie,
What is the passion you want to turn into a career business and anyone else who's just joined?
What's the passion you want to turn into career business?
So just seeing,
How does it feel to see everyone else's ideas?
I think someone just said that in the chat.
Yeah.
Someone,
Someone's appreciating that in the chat saying hearing all of the many gifts you are building momentum to share is very inspiring,
Right?
It's inspiring because sometimes it feels like we're alone in this world.
Sometimes we have friends or family who are just in the routine and they're not interested in any of this kind of stuff.
And you're like,
You're wondering like,
Why,
Why don't they,
Why are they not doing this kind of stuff?
It was for me,
Like I haven't had an,
I haven't got a network.
I didn't have any network at all.
I thought,
Oh yeah,
Like maybe I'll speak to people like family and friends who would help me when I'm starting this business or,
And all that stuff.
Right.
I was very energized and there wasn't as many people as I thought that that would be in that space.
So knowing that you're not alone in this is huge.
It's huge.
So what I'd say with all of your ideas,
All of the things you want to create in the world,
Passion that you want to turn into a business or into reality.
If you,
If you're not ready to turn into a business,
What I would say is what's stopping you.
What's stopping you?
I get people saying all the time,
I want to do this.
What's stopping you?
You can put it in the chat if you want,
Or just ask yourself right now,
What's stopping you?
What is it?
And a load of answers might come out.
Really be honest with yourself.
What is stopping you?
And it's okay to have those things.
I'm all about acceptance.
It's okay.
I wanted to be a personal trainer.
Let me tell you this.
I wanted to be a personal trainer when I was younger because I liked fitness,
Right?
I told you the story at the beginning.
And for some reason,
I kept watching other personal trainers and looking at other people,
How their YouTube pages and online and hearing about them.
And I was just getting angry saying I can do this so much better.
Thinking like they're not doing this in a good way.
I can do this better.
I was just sitting there on the sidelines watching and judging,
But not actually doing anything myself for at least five years.
Just sitting and thinking about it.
Five years sitting and thinking about it.
And like now I can say that wasn't my path.
And I did get qualified.
I went and got my qualifications as a personal trainer.
I did it for like a very short time and I realized it's not for me.
I spent so many years just thinking about it.
Thinking and watching other people doing it.
Someone said something to me when I turned 30.
I know I was having a massive shift when I turned 30.
I said when I was 29,
I was like,
I don't want to waste time anymore.
I don't want to do that.
And when I was 30,
Someone said to me,
I was telling her all about these ideas I had.
I was telling her all these things I'd done already.
Like I was teaching mindfulness.
I was doing meditation things online.
I was doing fitness classes online and all this stuff.
I was doing stuff,
Right?
And I had my career was actually in data and analytics.
I was working as a corporate consultant for like one of the big four accountancy firms.
That's my life,
Right?
Can you imagine hearing me now?
That was me.
And I'm not ashamed of it.
It was great.
It was awesome.
I enjoyed parts of it.
But I said to her,
I want to start something else now.
And she said,
Don't wait any longer.
Just don't wait any longer.
And something just clicked when she said that.
I was like,
What?
Yeah,
I don't want to wait any longer.
So then I just took some steps.
I guess what I'm trying to say to you is,
Whatever you want to create,
Whatever thoughts are going on in your head,
Fear of rejection,
Fear of mistakes,
All this stuff about perfectionism,
Fears,
Worries,
All of that is okay.
All of that will be there through the process.
I don't think I've ever met anyone who has gone into a transition,
Such as starting a new career,
Or doing something with their passions without having any kind of doubts,
You know.
So it's either you sit there and wait for something to some moment to occur when it feels right,
And when my feelings are going to feel nice and warm.
You wait for that inner experience.
You can wait and wait and wait.
Or you just start doing something,
Start acting on what you want,
Despite of not feeling great,
Despite of the fears,
You know.
Because I've learnt,
This thing called confidence is a learnt behaviour.
So we gain confidence after doing things.
Confidence we don't necessarily need it before we do stuff.
It's like if you were telling me to go for a,
I've never driven a car before.
Yeah,
I don't know how to drive a car,
I don't feel confident driving a car.
If I start doing a little bit,
Yeah,
I'll probably get confidence.
Get it over time.
So like someone said in the chat,
The small step,
Yeah,
Small step,
What is the small step?
So I want to ask you that right now in the chat.
What is the small step that you can take to creating this career or business that you want?
What is the smallest step,
The tiniest,
I use this word tiniest sometimes when I'm talking to someone,
I say what's the tiniest step?
And when I'm working with people,
Because I actually work with entrepreneurs often,
Or people who want to start a business often,
And I'll say what is the,
Yeah,
Like you want to do this,
How about we do this first?
How about you go and speak to people about this?
How about you start,
Like if you want to go into being a coach or whatever,
How about you start engaging with people,
Creating relationships,
Talking to people?
How about you start posting about the things you're passionate about online?
How about you make a video?
Make a video and then just send it to people.
You make a video about something you're passionate about.
So you're really into dance therapy,
Someone said in the chat.
How about you make a video for that?
You can make one right now and anytime anyone wants to know what you're about and what you represent,
They can see this video.
They can get an experience of this now.
If they're like what the hell is this dance therapy stuff?
You can say hey,
Yeah,
It might sound kind of weird,
But here's this video,
Go and try it.
Now you've created something in reality,
So now someone who might want to invest and work with you,
Now they've got to know you a little bit.
Now they've got a taste for what you represent.
So I guess the thing I'm trying to say is,
If you want to turn your passions into a career,
Like the thinking and the feelings,
I don't think they can be something that you wait to get rid of first.
Because I thought that too,
I was like yeah,
I've got to work on this stuff and get it out of the way.
Because I can't do this if I'm still working on myself.
Who am I to tell people about all these things if I'm still on the journey?
What I was discounting was all the experience I had,
All the experience I had,
All the passion I had,
The knowing inside.
That's another thing to look at,
Like what's the knowing inside telling you?
The intuition you might call it,
The guidance,
The inner compass,
What is that pointing towards?
Thing knows a lot.
So let me pause there and ask you guys,
What are you getting from this so far?
If you've been here for the whole 45 minutes,
What are you getting so far?
What's a takeaway?
What's an insight?
What might be an action that you might take?
I'd love to hear in the chat.
I'm going to address some of the other points in there as well.
While you guys do that,
I'm going to quickly look at some of the points in the chat.
Reflectionism syndrome and being afraid of it not being right the first time.
Good.
I'm glad,
I hope it's not right the first time so then you can learn something from it.
That's what I usually say to people.
I'll say,
How about we get the best version you can right now,
Done better than perfect,
I say.
How about you just get it out?
Because there's all this time we can spend on things and that time is gone where you can get a version of something out.
Call it a first job.
Let's say you're writing a book.
How about you just get a first job done?
How about you just write a chapter?
So I think this perfectionism stuff is really created from fear.
It's really created from like,
If I don't get this perfect,
Then this will happen.
It's an easy way out.
Really easy way out.
We're so good at convincing ourselves.
People will even use this as a trait.
They'll wear this like a badge.
I'm a perfectionist.
So now it's not like,
It's like I don't have to admit,
I don't have to put a negative connotation on this.
I'm using this as a positive.
I'm a perfectionist.
This is why it's not happening.
That's what we do.
We trick ourselves.
We trick ourselves in any way possible so we don't have to have responsibility for this.
So it's not on us.
Always my parents fault.
Always everything that happened to me.
I'm not trying to discount that.
I kind of share openly,
I've had very huge challenges with my mind and my upbringing.
I don't want that to get in the way for anyone.
You see I get passionate sometimes.
That's where all this comes from.
That's the other part of this.
What is that fire inside of you?
What is that fire inside of you that wants to erupt out?
If you feel that fire and you channel it towards your actions,
If you feel that passion and you channel it towards what you want to create,
Those mental fears will like,
I'm not saying they're going to disappear,
But there's more power and more momentum towards doing what you want to do when you have that drive inside.
For example,
I was coaching someone last week and she said I want to do this stuff with health coaching.
She knew she wanted to do it but she didn't really know the deeper why.
Like Simon Sinek,
He talks about start with why.
She didn't really know what is the fire behind this?
Why do I want to do this?
Why is this so important?
That's what I'll pull out of people.
I'll ask them about their past,
Their stories.
So it turned out that this person was just,
There were some challenges going on.
I'm not going to go into all the details to keep it private,
But let's just say there were a lot of challenges that she was facing when it came to stuff like health in her family and stuff like that.
This is why she had that fire because she didn't want anyone else to suffer.
This is why.
Why do you want to write this book?
Why do you want to be a coach?
Why do you want to do art?
Why is it so important?
Why is it so important that you'll grab your brush and you'll sit and you'll do it?
Why is it so important that you'll go against what is easy,
Which is getting an easy job?
Why do you want to go and have this challenge?
This is not an easy path.
Why do you want to even attempt to go down this hard path?
The only reason is because there's something in there.
There's that something fire that wants to come out.
It wants to come out,
It's bursting to come out.
That's the only reason why anyone ends up doing all this stuff.
That's what I'm talking about when I say turn a passion into something.
The fire will lead you towards whatever you want.
Unlocking that fire,
Unlocking that why and then taking action on it.
Hearing the thoughts,
Hearing the doubts.
We go into flow states sometimes.
There's a whole science about flow states now.
They made it into a scientific thing.
We get into these flow states when we're not in that mode of analyzing.
We're just in the mode of action and flow.
We're doing it,
We're doing it,
We're here.
All these artists,
All you guys are artists that are here.
You'll probably be able to relate to that.
Usually the fears are not always there.
They're not always there.
Only there are certain moments.
You're creating your art,
Fear's not there.
You're doing your art,
You're making it.
It's fine.
You're writing your book,
It's not there.
You're doing it.
It's only when you start thinking about what if,
What would they say,
What would people think.
It's just thoughts that occur between situations,
Between actions.
If you're willing to endure that,
Knowing that,
It's so funny because you have these thoughts sometimes and then the next moment you prove it wrong.
Where's the validity?
It's like me trusting a horse that was blindfolded.
Let's say I was betting on a horse.
I'm betting on a blindfolded horse.
Why would I trust this thing when any time I can debunk it?
The next moment you can say,
For example,
You want to go and do a public talk.
Your mind is telling you all this stuff and then it goes fine.
You've just proven it wrong.
Why would I trust that horse?
I'm not ready to put my life on the line for that.
I'm not ready to believe all of that stuff.
Why?
I'm not going to put all my money down for that horse.
It's blind.
It's wild.
It's going in all sorts of directions.
It doesn't make sense.
That's what comes up guys.
Like I told you,
My passion comes out sometimes and here it is for you.
What else is there in the comments?
Let me see.
Some steps people are taking.
Start building a network.
Nice.
How are you going to do that?
Write down your how.
Once you have the why,
Once you have this thing that you want to do,
Start getting into that mode of how.
What do I have to do?
What would lead to me getting what I want?
Build a network.
What does that mean?
Does that mean go and specifically speak to people?
What does it mean?
That's what I'd say to myself as well.
What else?
I'm going to write out my thoughts versus thinking about something.
Yeah,
Like using a piece of paper is so powerful sometimes.
You can map out everything you want and just put it on a piece of paper because it comes out in a way that's different from thinking.
It starts getting like a pattern almost or a sequence let's call it.
It's like our mind sequences it into the paper.
Otherwise it's like having a bowl full of marbles and they're just everywhere.
It's just everywhere.
You don't know what's going on in there.
When you start writing it on a piece of paper it's like you're sorting it all out.
You're sorting the colors.
What else?
I can start to post more about what you're working on.
Yeah,
Get on social media or create a newsletter.
That stuff's really useful.
If some of you guys are starting a business,
Create a newsletter,
Get on social media.
Just show people who you are.
Show them who you really are.
That's what's helped me the most.
I've just showed up and shown people like what do I represent?
Oh,
This,
This and this.
This is who I am.
This is what I'm doing right now.
I'll tell people the challenges I'm going through as well.
I'll be very vulnerable or the challenges I've been through.
I'll just be real.
People love that.
Because it's like now this person is helpful but he's not on his pedestal.
He's been on a journey.
It's a very real journey.
If any of you guys are coaches or you're service driven,
Let's say you require a client or you know what I mean,
Then yeah that kind of stuff is useful.
All right,
What else?
Anyone have any questions?
I would love a question right now.
Anyone has a question?
What are you trying to create?
What is the passion you want to turn into a business and what is the question you have around that?
Put it in the chat and I'll answer some questions.
That'd be fun.
Especially if you've been thinking about something for a while or something's been challenging you for a while.
It's a great time to just get it out there because I'll see how I can speak on that and support you.
You never know,
Someone else might be having the exact same question or challenge.
You never know.
Often the time that happens.
I'm glad you're feeling calm.
Yeah,
Awesome.
I'm going to do a session at some point about using our voice because it's something I love.
Using voice,
Using language,
Expressing energy.
I think a lot of people ask me about that as well.
Okay,
What else?
Yeah,
So someone wrote systems and procedures are great until I realize I don't like how I feel when I'm in them.
Yeah,
It's an interesting one.
Feelings are really interesting because it depends like what is that?
What is going on there?
If it's like my true inner guidance is saying something doesn't feel right about this,
Something just isn't me,
Then that's great information.
But if it's like,
Hey,
I want to do this thing but I feel tired or I'm having these thoughts of doubt or I'm not in that kind of state,
My energy is low.
If it's like that,
Then I always challenge someone and I'll say,
Hey,
How about you try?
Because often it's like if you want to go for a run,
I don't know about you guys,
Maybe some of you guys love to run.
But most of the time if I want to go for a run,
There's always a hesitation for me.
It's always a hesitation.
Then when I'm running a few minutes later,
I'll get into the flow.
Maybe not a few minutes,
Let's say five minutes,
I get into the flow.
Feelings can be irrelevant a lot of the times.
If you wait until you feel ready or you feel like you're in a good state,
It could mean you're waiting forever.
This was a hard one for me.
It was a really hard one because I was going off a lot of feelings a long time.
A lot of stuff just didn't get done because I'd be judging myself.
I'd be like,
This feels too difficult.
It feels overwhelming.
Where do I start?
And I'll be judging me.
All that stuff comes up and then I'll be in this whole spiral of like my body turns against me because of all of that stuff.
And when I actually get stuff done,
Another feeling occurs.
Oh,
I feel great.
You know,
That that occurs.
So be careful of feeling sometimes.
All right,
What else have we got guys?
Ask me any question.
I'm going to look for anyone's got any questions.
In summary,
We'll end on for now before I take some questions and go into some of this chat.
If you have a passion and you think,
Wow,
It'd be amazing to how cool would it be to be getting paid for this?
How cool would that be?
Or if you just have a passion that just wants to come out to start with,
You want to express something into the world.
Then the first thing I'd say is don't wait any longer.
Don't wait any longer.
Please.
That's what I wish I'd say to my younger self.
Don't wait any longer,
Man.
Come on.
Just do a little step.
Don't wait any longer.
Next thing I'd say is it's okay that you feel these ways.
It's okay that you have fears.
Actually good.
I'll say that.
I say this to my clients sometimes.
They say,
Oh my God,
Raj,
Like I'm having all this doubt.
I don't know what to do about this doubt.
And I'll smile at them.
And I'll say,
I'll point my finger like this sometimes and I'll say good.
And they'll be like,
What?
What do you mean?
I've thrown them off.
I've interrupted their pattern by saying that because we're in this pattern.
We're in this pattern.
I want someone to make me feel better.
I want someone to give me sympathy.
No,
I'm not going to give you that.
I'm going to tell you good.
Good because you're human and being human means these,
These feelings and thoughts come up.
That's really what it is.
I don't want to get rid of them.
Why would I do that to you?
Why would I try and take these things away that are natural?
That's not me being in service of you.
Me being in service of you is telling you good.
Be okay with that.
Accept it.
That's,
This is a good sign actually.
This is a great sign that you feel uncomfortable.
It's a great sign that fears are coming up.
Let's talk about these fears now.
So that's what I'll do with someone.
I'll say,
Let's talk about it.
Okay.
You got to fear fear of what would people think?
And then I'll,
I'll really get into the depths of that with them and help them almost unpack that and move past it.
Change the thinking about it,
You know,
Change the perception anyway.
Not change the thoughts,
But change how you're receiving the thoughts.
So that's the next thing I'll say to you.
If you're having these thoughts,
Doubts,
Fears,
Good.
Get them too.
If I want to expand and grow to beyond what I'm doing right now,
If I want to do something much bigger or different,
I'm going to get that too.
I want to get it.
I want to feel resistance,
But I know it's like,
As Ryan Holiday says,
Or I think it came from Marcus Aurelius,
The obstacle is the way obstacles the way.
Once you do get through it,
You're like,
Oh my God,
How cool was that?
How cool was it?
I actually,
Wow,
Look,
I'm doing this thing.
Say this to myself a lot.
One of my,
I had a coach last year who was telling me,
And actually in March,
He was like,
Raj,
I wanted to go travel and stuff like that.
And he was like,
Raj,
You know,
Like what you've done so far,
Have you taken time to actually acknowledge yourself?
To acknowledge like you've gotten through some of these challenges.
And I was like,
Oh yeah,
You're right.
So it's really cool when you can get past these things.
Instead of trying to change the thinking and trying to remove the fears,
Let's move through it instead and then change the perception of it or the way of receiving.
Flip it.
So it's,
Oh,
This is good.
Right?
So that's the next thing I'll say about if you're wanting to do something.
The next is you got to take action.
You got to do it when,
Even if it feels uncomfortable,
You want to post something online.
Okay.
Do it.
And you know,
Sometimes this is,
This is sometimes what my clients love.
They'll post something and they'll tell me,
Hey,
Look,
I've just posted this thing.
And they have my support there.
I'll look at it.
I'll tell them like,
Oh,
This was good because of this.
Oh,
Maybe you can improve this kind of thing.
Or they'll have a conversation with someone about business or whatever about their services,
About expressing themselves.
And I'll talk to them about it.
I'll say,
How did it go?
How was it like,
What happened for you?
What,
What did you experience?
I felt all these doubts.
I think I screwed up on this part.
Okay.
So how can we improve that next time?
Cool.
Let's,
Let's work on that.
And you can do this with a friend.
You can do,
You don't have to hire a coach.
You can,
You can have a buddy or just someone as with you,
Someone that you can talk to about what you're going through.
If you have someone in your life who is,
And I'm laughing because I didn't for sure.
If you have someone in your life who is,
Who can give you some dedicated time,
Love and care,
Who will actually listen and not like give advice and tell you what to do and critique you.
Cause I,
That's what I had a lot in my life.
I didn't have that kind of support system,
But if you do,
If you have someone like that,
Then ask them like,
Yeah,
Can we do some kind of accountability thing or just talk to each other about businesses where maybe they're,
They're doing the same thing as you.
So you can talk to each other about it and share notes.
You know,
It's great to have that feedback.
Um,
Or like talk to someone who,
Who's done something that you're wanting to do.
Like you can call that a mentor or a,
You know,
In that kind of position,
Someone who's gone through it and talk to them and say,
Yeah,
Look,
I'm going through this.
Did you ever go through this?
Yeah,
I did for sure.
And here's some things you can try.
So I found that invaluable.
I found that huge because otherwise it's like me and me alone in my room,
Me alone in my room.
I don't know what the hell I'm doing.
I'm confused.
There's no,
There's no one to talk to about this.
Yeah.
That's,
That's the thing I found most challenging feeling isolated in this whole thing of like,
I want to turn my passion into something.
Isolation was challenging.
So that's the other thing I'd say,
Um,
Take action,
Go and take action and then help like get someone that might help you review your actions or keep you accountable.
And like the reason why I say having a coach is good.
I'm not trying to tell you,
Hey,
Come and work with me.
I've got a good set of clients.
I'm not,
I'm not desperate and looking for clients,
But you can find a coach that is actually this is their professional role to help you with this kind of thing,
Right?
Whoever that might be.
You can just look at people,
Look online,
See what comes up because then they can help you create this thing or a mentor who can help you.
They can help you with your thinking around it.
They can help you keep you accountable.
So many,
So many benefits.
That's what I found anyway.
So let me go through the comments guys.
If there's any questions,
I'll look for them.
Let me know if that's been helpful today,
Guys.
Let me know if it's been helpful at all.
Slightly different to what I usually do.
I'm just saying it in a way of this is really your spirit expressing itself.
It's this thing inside you.
It's the spirit inside.
It's the potential.
It's the,
I call it the full expression of who you are.
Otherwise this little thing bites at you inside and it keeps tapping you on the shoulder saying,
When are you going to do this?
You've always wanted to do this.
Then you end up turning into this person.
So you meet someone who's doing what you're doing and you end up resenting yourself for not doing it.
They're already doing it.
Oh,
What a,
I wanted to do this 10 years ago.
You know,
Resenting yourself and going,
Living with a bag full of regrets,
Carrying that around your whole life.
That's one of the things I don't want.
I don't want to carry around a bag full of regrets.
I want to say I tried,
Even if it failed,
I tried.
I learned something from it.
So whatever your passion is,
Do not wait.
Just go and do it somehow.
Try your best.
Speak to people who have done it and just get actions going.
So that's all I'm going to say guys.
I hope that was useful.
I'm going to quickly browse through the comments section.
See if there's anything I missed.
See if there's any questions.
And I can still take a few more questions.
So if anyone has a question right now that you'd love to ask,
Put it in the chat.
And I'd also love to know what is your one insight from today?
If you've been here for over an hour,
Quite a lot of time.
It's a lot of time for you to be hanging around here,
Right?
Especially if you're using your phone and like holding it like this.
Your hand might be getting tired.
So if you've been here for that long,
Tell me what you've gotten from this.
What is your takeaway?
What is the insight you had?
Why do you feel good and warm if you're feeling that?
What is it?
What's happening inside?
Put it in the chat.
Share it to declare it like I say.
All right,
Real quick,
Let's look through the comments.
How do you become a teacher on Insight Timer?
Or for example,
A yoga teacher.
So you have to be qualified.
You have to have a qualification that you can present to them.
And they will take you through a review process.
And they might have a call with you.
They might have a call with you and then they'll send you some training and stuff that you've got to do just so you know how to be a teacher here.
And then you can start creating events and posting stuff.
So it's kind of like a really good process.
Because they bring in people who have done some work around this stuff.
They really cultivate good people into the space.
So shout out to Insight Timer for that.
Marketing myself seems to be what people keep saying to me.
If you're figuring out who you are in the world,
You know why you're typing this.
Just yeah,
Let it out.
Yeah,
You don't know why you're typing this or asking this.
Yeah,
Exactly.
Hmm.
Yeah,
So if there's some,
If you want to market yourself,
Like even this whole word marketing,
I even find that sometimes it makes this overwhelm occur in someone.
It's like,
Oh my God,
I got to get myself this.
I got to do this.
I got to have a website.
I got to do branding.
I got to choose some nice colors.
I got to choose a font.
I got to,
How do I represent myself?
It becomes this like overwhelming thing.
And I've done all of that stuff.
I understand all that stuff.
I'm to a level,
But I'd say the simplest way to market yourself is to talk about things that you represent,
Things that you represent,
Things that you,
You are giving to the world,
Giving,
You know,
A lot of the time marketing is seen as a getting.
It's like,
I'm going to get to you.
I'm going to hook you.
They use words like hook.
I'm going to hook people in.
I'm going to say something which will get them interested.
You know,
I've been all through this whole marketing process and all of,
I've been quite deep with this.
And just some of it just doesn't resonate with me.
I found the way I market myself,
If you can use the word marketing is I'm just showing up in places and expressing what I believe in.
And I get messages after sessions like this,
I'll get messages from people saying,
Hey Raj,
Like what you were talking about was really interesting.
I'd like some help with some of this.
And even at that point,
I'm not trying to sell anything to anyone.
I'll say to them,
Hey,
Like I've got an article that I can send you or Hey,
Like,
Yeah,
I understand.
And I'll maybe send them a message with something that can help them.
And then that like,
That's,
That's my way of doing it.
I'm marketing myself by being what I stand for,
Showing people like giving people an experience and you can do that in so many ways.
You can create a YouTube video,
You can,
You can start creating resources.
You can do workshops like I'm doing.
And that's what I found has been like a really nice way to do marketing for me anyway.
And then there is all this other stuff here,
Like website and your story and all that stuff,
I think is way simpler than it,
Than people make it seem to be.
That's what I'd say,
Especially for someone who's their own boss and the business is you way simpler.
So if anyone wants to ask me about that,
Send me a message,
Just like I just said right now,
I'm modeling for you.
If you want to send me a message,
Send me a message and I'll,
I'll see how I can help you.
Anything I said today,
Anyone has connected.
Some people messaged me saying,
Some people messaged me saying I connected with your energy and straight away I knew,
I knew that there was some reason why I came to that session today.
So they wanted to connect.
If you're feeling that then just,
Yeah,
Let's talk.
Let's just talk.
Let's have a conversation.
So I always say that my inbox is open.
Contact me.
And I'm on Instagram.
I got book recommendations there.
I'm posting every day.
Check it out.
Check it out.
Just see what,
See what comes up.
Even if you just watch me just to get ideas.
I'm not saying I'm an expert.
If you just watching me just to get ideas.
If you just want to ask me about ideas,
Go for it.
All good.
So let me see what else is in the chat before we finish.
Someone said they're a data analyst.
That's what I used to do.
Hello,
Violet.
That's exactly what I used to do.
I was wrangling data into,
And I was working remotely as well as wrangling data into insights.
I was turning information into insights for people to make business decisions.
So this tiny bit of crossover to what I'm doing now,
But yeah,
Like it's great that you're in that experience because I'm sure you've learned a lot from it.
But it's not your passion.
So you sound just like me from the past.
Sound just like me.
So you're not sure what your passion is.
Yeah.
If you want,
We can have a conversation and there might be an easy way for you to figure this out.
You know,
Like if you're still figuring out your passion,
Sometimes I see this,
I see people getting lost in this being a fixed thing that,
You know,
People will say things like,
I want to find my life purpose.
That sounds like a fixed thing.
That sounds like I am a doctor and this is what I'm going to be forever.
I don't like that.
I like to think as let's start doing something now and then this will evolve.
I don't know what I'm going to be doing in three years.
I love that.
I don't have a life purpose.
I'm just on purpose right now.
On purpose in the present is life purpose thing.
Sounds like a future thing.
Sounds like an analytical information thing to massage my head with to make myself feel good.
Oh,
I have a life purpose.
I don't need that.
Why,
Why are we looking for that?
To fix ourselves,
To massage,
To massage our good feelings.
If there's something that you like to do,
Be on purpose.
Be on purpose.
It doesn't have to be a fixed thing.
That's what I'll challenge all of you to.
I wish I knew that because I,
And I say all of this through experience.
I was doing all of these exercises,
These purpose exercises.
What is my life purpose?
I went into all of the Indian mythology,
Astrology.
I was like,
What was I made here to do?
What did the stars say I should do?
And I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that.
I've got tons of value from it actually,
If I'm being so honest with you,
I've got tons of value from it.
I realized like there was a lot of mental games going on when I was doing that.
Mind games with myself.
Instead it's like this thing can evolve.
So I'll leave that with you and feel free to reach out.
I'd love to hear about your data analysis job and yeah,
Hear more about that.
It'll be fun.
Okay.
What else?
I want to see if I can get through any of these extra comments.
Let's see.
How awesome will it be when I'm getting paid to help people,
Help others the way you have helped me?
Yeah,
I'm glad.
And that's a lot of people that connect with me as well.
They want to do something similar to this.
I say,
Great,
Awesome.
But with your twist,
With your twist and your colors on it,
I can definitely help people with that.
I don't want anyone to be like me,
But I love when people get inspired by what I represent because it's like,
I want you to be you in your way.
If the similarity is great.
So you enjoy your side hustle teaching.
Should I just keep doing that and keep my day job?
Hmm.
Yeah,
You can.
If you have the time and do them both and you can move yourself towards like what I also say to people is what if you start transitioning into a business?
So you make something as tiny side hustle.
Maybe it doesn't earn anything right now.
Maybe artists are there.
Maybe you don't earn anything.
What if you start moving towards a place where you can and then a transition can occur of you can leave your job.
I'm not the kind of person who tells people leave everything behind with no income,
Nothing planned because that's not me.
I wouldn't do that.
I don't want you to be in scarcity and not able to pay any bills because you've because you followed your passion but not thought about your your your your like safety.
So that's what I'd say to anyone here.
It doesn't have to be a like you jump in and you leave everything behind straight away.
I love the slow game of this.
If it's worth it,
You'll be willing to play that game.
And you'll see how amazing it is.
Having having like if you're in a position where you can do both,
That's amazing.
We can have a day job income and you can build.
That's amazing.
It's a great place to be.
It's the best place actually.
This is my opinion anyway.
Other people won't agree with me.
Other people will say you leave everything behind.
That's just how people see it right.
I'm not right or wrong.
No one's right or wrong,
This is just how I see it.
All right,
I hope that helped.
The last thing I'm going to look through,
I think I saw a few more things I wanted to quickly comment on.
Don't carry around a bag of regrets.
Exactly.
One of the heaviest bags you're ever going to carry in your life.
Regrets or resentment.
Regrets or resentment for someone.
Resenting someone or resenting a part of yourself.
The heaviest bag you can carry.
So there's a lot of inner work that goes into all this as well.
All the inner work that occurred for me allowed me to do the outer creation of this as well.
To remove a lot of stuff.
Remove a lot of stuff.
Change the way I see things.
Optimize my energy.
Optimize what I'm eating even to that level.
Changing the foods I'm putting inside.
There's a few things that go into this.
What I'm not saying is like it is something that you have to be a monk to do all this.
All right cool guys let me see last thing.
Let me see if there's anything else I saw.
Yeah you said people that tell you to drop everything scare you.
Yeah exactly.
Scares me as well.
I don't want to drop everything.
Some people might I don't know.
Some people might like despise their career.
Hate it.
Maybe it drains them and they have no energy to do anything.
Then maybe it makes sense right.
So it depends on the person.
Yeah I love the idea of not having to go for life purpose but instead being on purpose.
Yeah I teach distinctions a lot which means like this versus this.
Life purpose versus on purpose.
On purpose is day by day I'm on purpose.
I'm on it.
Life purpose is like this thing where I put myself into a box because I did this test online and the test online said hey you are a this is what you are and you are this personality type.
That's another thing that I'm not too sure about.
You are you are a INFJ.
That's what I am I think.
INFJ.
You're an INFJ Raj so that means you are like this and that means you're like this.
And then the astrologer will tell me oh this means this is this is what's going to happen for you.
This is what you are.
I don't want to I don't want to hear all that definition of myself from something that is not inside.
And again here's where I play on both sides.
Here's where I play on both sides.
That stuff is still useful.
Is useful to hear as maybe guidelines maybe as like kind of like a little rough rough like estimate or a direction or a bit of understanding of yourself.
If it turns into you boxed yourself in you say oh I'm a sensitive person so I cannot do this.
Now you know this is turned against you.
Now you've turned your horoscope against you.
You know people do this all the time they say hey I'm always because I'm a I'm a Gemini.
This is why this this is why.
Okay I get it.
There are some tendencies.
If you start using that as a thing that stops you from your life then you've messed up.
You've messed up.
You've taken this on as a fixed thing that keeps you in a box and it keeps you safe and it makes you feel warm and fuzzy when you tell yourself I can't do this because of this.
That's me being very very straight up.
Some people might not like me to say that.
Some people might not like this.
This is just what comes through for me.
This is my experience.
This is what I was doing.
I was like huh I'm sensitive.
Huh I'm this.
I don't want that to be fixed.
On the spiritual path if you're on a spiritual path you start becoming boundless.
You go beyond psychology.
You go beyond what these definitions are.
You start becoming this boundless thing and that's that's it.
That's what I think is the most important.
Becoming free from everything.
Freedom.
Wow so that's all I'm going to say guys I'm going to leave the session there.
I have a 90 minute limit where I usually start getting tired.
After that point it's like huh the dip starts occurring so I'm going to leave it as that guys or usually I take a break if it's longer than that time.
I'm going to leave it as that and I hope everyone got something useful from today.
Letting go of resentments.
Letting go of the stuff that's holding on to you.
Changing the way you see things.
Exactly changing the way you see things everything changes.
If you see this whole thing as a game I'm creating a business as a game.
It's a game now.
You get to play.
It gets to be a playful thing.
You get to have fun with this now.
So now is a playful thing.
Awesome let's go play.
Let's go take some actions.
Take some shots.
You never know which one will go in right.
That's the other side that I like to play on right.
A lot of this is spiritual but then I also like to play on this like let's make this a game.
Let's play.
Let's go and act.
Cool guys.
That's what I've got.
And if you got something from this session then write it down.
Write it down so it doesn't get lost.
Give yourself a moment before you rush into your day.
If you've been here for this long something has been going inside or moving.
Be with that.
Be with that.
Right after this finishes be with that.
Any insights occur and if any ideas start coming be with that.
Explore and then write down what is one action I'm going to take.
I'm going to commit to.
If you want to be like that guy who was on the call the other day he said to me Raj I'm going to start writing and I'm going to message you and tell you how it went.
I invite any of you here to do that.
Not because I really want to get messages in my inbox.
Not because I want anything.
It's to see how things are going to keep you on this path.
So if you're going to commit and take an action my invitation message me tell me how things are going.
Tell me if you'd like some help.
You know you got to put your hand up and go for it if you want some help.
Or we can just have a conversation and it might be fun.
So guys let's leave it as that.
Time is up.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
Have a beautiful one.
