And just allow your breath to come in deeply.
Make your exhalations just a little bit longer.
And then I'd like you to imagine that you can breathe through various areas of your body as I direct your attention.
And as if you have gills in those parts of the body,
Starting at the top of your head.
Imagine the top of the head expanding with breath.
Like you're breathing at the top of your head.
And then do the same through your temples and the jaw.
Allowing yourself to release tension and then bring your attention into your neck.
Imagining those gills through the neck.
Opening and closing as you breathe.
Directing energy into the neck and exhaling what's not serving,
That tension,
Anxiety.
Doing the same with the shoulders.
And then into the back body.
Thinking about the upper back and maybe even feeling the expansion in the upper back as you breathe.
Sensing into that airflow,
That energy flow through the muscles.
And in the mid-back,
Around the ribcage,
And the low back.
Letting yourself feel the energy coming in,
Calming your nervous system,
Calming your mind,
Letting go of tension.
Bring your awareness into your chest now.
Same sort of thing,
Exchanging in that energy through the diaphragm and ribcage and the stomach.
Feeling the expansion of the belly as you inhale,
Exhaling as the belly pops in again.
And once again,
Imagine those gills.
And then the hips,
The glutes,
And the legs.
Down into the lower legs and then to the feet.
And here you can imagine that the breath is coming into the soles of your feet.
And as you exhale this time,
Imagine that there's roots coming out of your feet and down into the earth.
And through these roots,
You're exchanging energy with the earth itself,
Bringing up safe,
Grounding energy,
The heaviness of it,
Solid energy.
Exhaling any anxiety,
Any tension,
Sadness that's not necessary right now.
Letting it be transformed by the earth.
Inhaling safety,
Grounding,
And exhaling what's not serving you.
Keep that up and maybe feeling the roots growing deeper,
Going further down into the earth.
Grounding further,
Rooting,
Feeling that sense of connection,
Letting go of what's not serving.
You can keep that up,
Take several more breaths that way.
And whenever it feels like the right time for you,
You retract your roots,
Knowing that you can grow them back into the earth at any time you need to.
Taking your time.
Only when it's right for you,
Do you bring those roots back in.
Thank you.
