This meditation would be best enjoyed along with Roman Chamomile essential oil in your aromatherapy diffuser or to have a drop of the oil on a tissue that you can gently waft under your nose.
An alternative could be to make yourself a cup of chamomile tea and take in its aroma,
Sipping the tea as you listen in to this recording.
To begin I invite you to get comfortable in your position.
Gently roll your shoulders,
Relaxing into the space,
Bringing your focus to your breath.
Letting chamomile enter into this air coming into and out of your body.
Chamomile essential oil is a peaceful and soothing fragrance.
We drink chamomile tea as a way to relax and find calm and the essential oils aroma can be used for the same purpose.
As chamomile enters your nostrils,
Let it bring its peacefulness into your being.
Chamomile is here to invite you to find fulfillment.
All too often we fill our days with busyness and doing.
This moment right now is for you to slow down and clear your mind.
As you breathe in chamomile,
Let its aroma sweep its calmness over you.
You feel yourself relax,
Letting go of stress.
Take your attention to the crown of your head and slowly scan from this spot down over your body.
As your awareness passes over each part of you,
Feel into that part,
Looking for any tension held there.
And when you find that you are tense,
Make a conscious effort to release that tightness.
Feel your scalp and your face relax.
Scan across your neck and shoulders for tension and if you find it there,
Let it go.
Feel down your spine,
Across your chest and abdomen,
Letting go of tension as your focus leads you.
Let your arms relax all the way to the tips of your fingers.
Let your buttocks,
Thighs and lower legs be released from stress,
Finding peace flow down into your feet and your toes.
Breathe in this chamomile aroma and feel it spread throughout your body,
Soothing each part of you as it goes.
Now focus this peacefulness into your heart space.
Feel a warm glow come over your heart.
This warmth allows your heart to open like a flower in the morning sunlight.
Your heart is ready to flourish just like a bud of a chamomile flower opening,
The petals stretching out under the sun's invitation.
Experience the openness this feeling brings to your heart space.
You feel a lightness,
A letting go of that which was closing you down,
Shrugging off your insecurities.
A flower does not think of competing with its neighbours,
It simply blooms and so can you come into your own blossoming way.
The chamomile brings a softness to your character,
Shedding your ego as you unfurl and open up your heart.
And as you take this mindful moment,
I invite you to reflect on how you spend your day.
Are you creating the life that you want or are you mindlessly letting life just happen to you?
Chamomile wants you to look for purpose and meaning.
Perhaps you could write down what your perfect day would be and then think of ways of how to make that happen more often.
Are you busy for busy's sake or are you working towards your goals and the vision that you have for your life?
In your imagination,
I invite you to picture yourself sitting on the floor at a table with a set of small notes scattered all around you.
Each of these notes contains one action from your day.
In your mind's eye,
You pick one up and it reads,
I brush my teeth.
Now this seems important,
So you place this note to one side.
The next note reads,
I wash my face.
Again,
This is a step that you don't want to miss in your day,
So place it with the first note,
Beginning to form a pile.
Now,
Take your time to pick up more and more of these little notes.
And as you read each of them,
You can either put them in that first pile of importance or place them in a new pile of less importance.
And you can begin to form one last pile where you now realise that these actions should no longer be a part of your day.
What actions are you thinking about in that first pile,
In the second pile,
In the discard pile?
Now,
In your mind's eye,
You pick up a blank notebook and you begin to write down actions that were missing from these notes,
But that you would like to include in your day.
You jot down each one and gently tear the notes from the pad to place in your pile.
As you come to the last page of the notebook,
There is a picture of a chamomile flower.
You sniff this image and you can really smell the aroma coming from it,
As if the picture were a real plant before you.
Slowly breathe in this fragrance and then gently exhale.
And as you do so,
The scent fills you with the promise of the exercise that you have just done.
You find a renewed sense of purposefulness.
To bloom is the process of becoming.
Chamomile invites you to become,
To step into who you want to be.
And when you need reminding of your own unique way of blossoming,
Return to the aroma of chamomile.
