Five-minute grounding practice to connect to the earth. Perfect for times when you feel overwhelmed or unsettled and need to remind yourself you are always held by the earth. Trauma sensitive and customizable.

Transcript

Begin by making yourself comfortable,

Whether you're seated in a chair or on a cushion.

Make any adjustments to your posture.

Wiggle your body.

Settle into an upright yet comfortable and relaxed position.

You may keep your eyes open with a soft gaze or gently close them,

Whichever is more comfortable for you.

Know that at any moment you may adjust my recommendations to suit your body in this moment.

You may breathe at your own pace,

Really ensuring this is supportive and comfortable to you.

Invite you to begin by taking three deep breaths,

Breathing at your own pace,

Extending the exhale so the breath are too longer than your inhale.

Breathing in deeply but gently,

Exhaling to release tension.

Doing this at least three times as we settle in.

When you've finished your cycles of breath,

Begin bringing your attention into the lower half of your body,

To your upper thighs,

Your knees,

Your calves,

Your ankles,

And into your feet.

Notice where you are connected to the earth,

Whether that's through the bottoms of your feet or your legs seated cross-legged on the floor or on the seat.

Just take a moment to feel the sense of being held,

Being supported,

Anchored to the earth.

Invite you to imagine drawing in a cool,

Nourishing earth energy through the bottoms of your feet or wherever your body is connected to the earth.

You may give it a color or a texture.

Begin drawing this energy into your body on the in-breath,

Filling up your legs into your torso and arms,

Exhaling to release tension.

Doing this at your own pace,

Continuing to fill your body all the way into your fingertips to the crown of your head,

Exhaling to release tension.

Taking another moment here,

Drawing in that grounded energy,

Filling your body with supported,

Nourishing,

Anchoring,

Settling energy.

Just slowly bringing your attention back into your whole body,

Feeling your fingers,

Perhaps wiggling them,

Wiggling your toes,

Gently rubbing your thighs with your hands.

I invite you to bring this grounded earth energy with you wherever you go,

Knowing that at any moment you can tune into your body,

Feel where you are connected to the earth.
