Sleep can be elusive at times, leaving you feeling depleted and frustrated. Let the magical healing power of lavender essential oil, meditation and breath practice bring you into a deep feeling of relaxation where your body, mind and spirit can let go of tension and worry and drift, gently off into a restorative sleep.

Welcome to this sleep meditation,

Where you are invited to surrender physically,

Emotionally and spiritually to the soporific sweetness of lavender.

For the full effect,

You might like to use some lavender pillow spray,

Or set a one hour timer on an electric diffuser with lavender essential oils inside.

Bring yourself into a comfortable position lying down.

Take a moment to stretch,

To wriggle,

To shuffle or to curl.

And taking a gentle full breath in,

Pause at the top.

And now release that breath out just as gently.

Feel yourself surrender to the release of the breath.

Feeling held and supported by the mattress underneath you as you focus on your breath.

On these easy,

Soft breaths.

And let the scent of lavender gently come to you.

Notice it as a whisper on the inhale.

The fragrance is subtle and comforting.

You begin to notice the effect on your mind first.

Soft memories of running your hands through the silvery leaves.

Long stalks of purple flowers swaying with the rhythm of the tender breeze.

Row after row of lavender plants,

Creating a cloud of fragrance all around you as they gently swish and swirl,

Softly to and fro with the rhythm of the breeze and of your breath.

The lavender field stretches on away towards the horizon down the hillside.

The warmth of the afternoon sun releases the therapeutic oils into the air,

Bringing them to you.

You feel the warmth of the sun on your skin.

Feel yourself gently smile and the muscles of your forehead soften and relax.

You feel the muscles of your throat and your shoulders begin to warm and soften too.

And as the lavender begins to work its magic throughout the rest of your body,

You feel any tension ease out of your lower back.

Any knots or tension in your stomach untangle themselves and soften.

Now you can feel the muscles of your hips and legs and feet being warmed by the sun and encapsulated in lavender and they too soften and relax.

It may be at this point that you need another little wriggle,

A stretch or a yawn,

Or for you to simply breathe all the way down into the tips of your toes,

Followed by an exhale which releases anything that is still being held.

Let your body guide you.

Now I'd like you to take a soft but full breath in,

A tiny pause and a gentle but extended breath out.

Continue with this pattern if it feels comfortable for you.

But if you can,

Let's help the lavender to get deeper into your system with a pause.

Inhale for four,

Pause for seven and then exhaling softly for eight.

Let's take that breath in.

Hold.

And exhale.

Breathe in.

And pause.

And exhale.

Breathing in.

And pause.

And exhale softly.

Breathing in.

And pause.

And exhale softly.

Breathing in.

And hold.

And exhale.

Breathing in.

And hold.

And exhale.

And coming back to your natural breathing pattern.

Relax into the natural pattern of your breath,

Feeling the soft rise and fall of your chest.

The gentle blend of herbal and floral now begins to work its magic on your energy channels.

Breathe softly and evenly and let the lavender come to you through the natural rhythm of your breath.

Beginning between your eyes,

At the bridge of your nose,

A soft glowing ball of purple light appears.

As this ball of light expands,

It fills your mind,

Your ears,

Your eyes,

Your nose and your throat.

Cleansing away any negative energies that have built up during the day.

Watch them float away like wisps of cloud.

Let the lavender heal and purify.

All the channels of your mind body are open to it now.

And have faith that it will travel to wherever you need it.

As you sleep,

Know that this aura of magical lavender is healing and purifying you within its cloud of tranquility.

Feeling the most relaxed you have felt in a long time.

Feeling at peace,

Feeling protected.

You welcome sleep into every cell.

Feeling relaxed,

Feeling at peace,

Feeling protected.
