Sound Bath Sessions 086: Law Bun Wai
Wai is a psychotherapist using sound to help people physically and mentally. He has a small collection of bowls and a shruti box. His approach to sessions are more healing rather than relaxing playing slow and intentional, every movement a way for a person to let their emotions come to the surface. I have found that a healing approach to sessions are more precise and minimal- 'prescribed', whereas a relaxing session is more layered and sweet. Wai brought me down to the river near his home where we sat on a bridge and recorded. You can hear the gentle water rushing and birds singing as he played. In this recording he continuously played two lower tone bowls in a slow alternating pattern throughout the entire piece. He played some higher tone bowls in the middle to contrast the steady rhythm.
