I woke this morning and felt that familiar pull down the 'dark, dank well' of thought. It's a place I know, a place that has no surprises. But then I looked outside and realized I had never been this exact age before, nor had the magpie ever sat on that exact branch - the raindrops had never slid down the window panes in those exact patterns - and everything was waiting to surprise and delight me. Uncertainty is something we are capable of - our body collides with the Reality (which really means it recognises its own nature in all things) in a deeply comforting way, grounding and whole. I hope this brings some peace to your morning today, and thank you for being here. Love Sez

The body collides.

I could wake and turn toward the mind,

Lower myself into the rusted bucket,

Sink down that bricked blind well.

I could sit in that dark,

Dank habit,

Where worry,

Rumination and dread drip cold down routined rivulets,

Or I could wake and not descend at all.

Has the wind ever been this still?

The leaves in their little waxed raincoats,

Have they ever been this glossy?

Has the magpie split the morning wide from that same pale branch before?

Outside of thought,

There is no groove,

Only rhythm,

And everything,

Beloved,

Everything is telling the truth of what it is.

This day arrives unrehearsed,

Untouched by the script of the past.

The body collides with the bare,

Breathing world,

And we are at home with this mysterious unfolding in the hiss and hum of the unnamed,

As the light gathers itself in widening and wilder waves,

Rising,

Reaching,

Carrying us in its quiet,

Luminous swell.

Hi Sez, just wanted to share how much it made me smile when you described the leaves in their waxy coats. That was vivid in my mind and it is remarkable because my brain doesn’t favour visualisations normally. It was a joy. I always love your style of describing. Blessings and appreciation 🙏🏼

Lovely, I could hear the water dripping and the breeze touching my skin, the quietness of emptiness and calmness in stillness!
