I'm Colleen Thomas.

This is Everyday Magic for Ukraine.

Today we honor the mothers in Ukraine.

Welcome to The Circle.

So today all you need is something that speaks to you of motherhood.

This could be something your mother has given you,

A photo of your mother,

A photo of a woman who was a mother figure in your life,

Or just imagine in your mind a mother in Ukraine.

And as we arrive together today,

As we land together in this circle that exists beyond Czeńpiňada,

That exists beyond space and time,

Where we are all here with one another no matter when or where we listen,

As we arrive here,

I invite you to give a little something extra to your heart in this moment.

We've been seeing a lot of extra conflict in the world since the new year,

And today talking about mothers might not be the easiest topic.

So find your heart.

Maybe place a hand on your heart or just check in with your heart and see what your heart might need right now.

Maybe take a couple of deeper breaths into your heart if that feels good.

Maybe rub your palms together.

The heart chakra extends down the arms and actually comes out of the palm chakras.

So when we rub our palms together,

We are waking up that heart chakra.

You'll notice after rubbing your palms together for a couple of minutes that your heart might feel different.

Give it a try as we're here.

And if your palms already feel energized just by those couple of seconds of rubbing them together,

Notice if there's any place on your body that might benefit from that healing energy.

Maybe your head if you have a headache or your eyes if you've been working at a computer today or your feet if they're tired.

You don't actually need to put your palms on your body.

You can just point them in the direction you'd like to send that energy and see it going there.

And now that we're a little bit deeper into the heart space and we've tended to our body just a little bit,

Let's work with this image of the mother.

We can work together on two levels today working around the idea of mothering,

Of motherhood,

Of being or having or losing a mother and also on the level of honoring the mothers in Ukraine.

And I think it might be useful today to pattern our meditation after what we did a couple of weeks ago with a father image.

So the invitation today is to imagine that you are in a neutral space,

Maybe a cafe in the middle of nowhere,

And a mother figure comes to sit with you.

Again this could be an important mother figure in your own life or it could be a sort of imagined mother in Ukraine or a specific mother in Ukraine if someone comes to mind.

The idea is to sit down and hold space with this mother,

To be with her in this space that is between space and time,

Connecting with her,

Listening to her,

Really noticing her eyes,

Her smile,

Or her tears,

Or any other expression you might see on her face,

Her hands,

Just give yourself some time with her,

Listen to what she has to tell you,

Tell her how you feel,

Give her your wishes and hopes and love,

Let your connection to her as a mother factor in to your connection.

What does it mean to her to be a mother and how does that reflect or resonate with your own experience of being a mother or being a child?

And when you feel that your time with her is coming to a close,

You can gently let her go,

Let her drift away,

And begin to transition back very gently into the space you're in,

Noticing what you're sitting,

Standing,

Or lying on,

Feeling its weight holding you in this moment.

And you might allow now a reconnection with your heart,

Maybe rub your palms together again,

And notice if there's any place on your body that would like some healing energy now.

Again,

Honoring your body,

Honoring yourself in this moment,

Taking in and integrating the richness of your connection with this mother,

Integrating it into yourself,

Gently,

Gently preparing to transition back into your day or your night.

May we always remember the sacredness of motherhood and may we always remember to honor the mothers right now in Ukraine.

May it be so.

And your heart make all the difference in healing our world.

Breathe and expand.
