This is Jessica of the Lotus Pond.
Welcome to your moment of intentional pause.
Happy Lunar New Year.
We are entering the year of the horse,
A year associated with movement,
Vitality,
Intuition,
And inner strength.
Across many cultures,
The horse has been seen as a powerful symbol of freedom and momentum,
Of trust and sensitivity,
Of deep connection between instinct and intelligence.
In Chinese culture,
The horse represents perseverance,
Independence,
And forward motion.
In ancient and indigenous traditions,
The horse is often honored as a spiritual companion,
A guide that mirrors our inner state and responds to energy more than words.
You don't need to know or believe any of this for today's meditation to work.
Simply let the image of the horse be an invitation,
A doorway into your own intuition,
Creativity,
And inner knowing.
This meditation is designed to support you as we begin a new lunar year,
But it can also be returned to any time you are starting a new season,
Seeking clarity,
Or wanting to reconnect with yourself.
Today,
We'll gently settle the body,
Balance the breath,
And allow the energy of the horse to guide us,
Not through effort,
But through presence.
So let's begin by finding a comfortable seated position.
Sit tall,
But relaxed,
And let your shoulders soften.
You can rest your left hand on your lap and bring your right hand up gently.
Your thumb will rest near your right nostril and your ring finger near your left nostril.
There's no pressure.
Everything light and easy.
And close your eyes if it feels comfortable.
And we'll start by closing the right nostril with your thumb.
Inhale slowly through the left nostril.
Now gently close the left nostril and exhale through the right nostril.
Inhale through the right nostril.
Close.
Exhale through the left nostril.
Continue at your own pace,
Smooth,
Steady,
And unforced.
This breathing technique helps balance the nervous system.
It brings clarity and calm.
So if your mind wanders,
Simply return to the sensation of breathing.
And when you feel ready,
Release your hand back to your lap and just allow your breath to return to its natural rhythm.
Notice how your body feels now.
Perhaps a little bit more grounded,
A little more centered.
There's nothing you need to do next.
Just simply breathe and allow yourself to receive.
From a place of your center,
I invite you to now imagine yourself in your mind's eye,
Arriving in a place that feels open and spacious.
It might be a wide open field or a quiet forest clearing.
Or maybe a stretch of desert or somewhere entirely your own.
There is no wrong setting.
Just let yourself arrive to where you need to be.
And as you stand or sit in this space,
You begin to sense movement.
Not brushed,
Not loud,
Just a quiet presence drawing near.
And then your horse appears.
A horse or perhaps more than one.
Allow the horse to arrive in its own way.
You don't need to control the image and just let it be.
Take some time to observe the colors of this horse.
The movement of your horse.
What kind of energy does it carry?
Is it calm or spirited?
Gentle or powerful?
Still or moving freely?
This horse represents a part of you.
Your intuition.
Your inner rhythm.
The energy that wants to guide you in this season of life.
And notice how your horse interacts with you.
Does it stand beside you?
Does it invite you forward?
Or is it simply holding space?
Then when you feel ready,
Gently say to the horse,
How are you?
What do you have for me?
Is there anything you want to say?
Is there a message you'd like to pass on?
What do you want me to remember?
You may receive a word.
A feeling.
An image.
Or a quiet sense of knowing.
Whatever arises is enough.
When it feels complete,
Take a moment to thank your horse for its presence,
Guidance,
Reflection,
And allow the image to slowly fade.
And bring your awareness gently back to your body.
To your breath.
To the space around you.
And take one deep breath in.
And exhale fully.
And when you're ready,
Open your eyes.
There's no rush.
After this meditation,
You're welcome to take a few moments to journal,
Draw,
Or create in whatever way feels natural to you.
You might explore questions like,
What stayed with me?
What feels true right now?
What energy am I being invited to move with?
Let this be a starting point.
Not something to figure out,
But something to feel into.
May the wisdom of your inner horse guide you with clarity,
Courage,
And trust.
Not just in this Lunar New Year,
But wherever your path leads.
Blessings.
