Welcome to this guided meditation for writing your memories.
Be sure to have a notebook and a pen close at hand,
And then begin to let your body settle.
Become as comfortable as you possibly can,
Whether you choose to sit up or lay down.
See if it would feel good to stretch,
Rolling your neck gently from side to side,
Extending your arms and your legs,
Flexing and relaxing,
Rolling your wrists and your ankles,
Stretching your fingers and your toes.
Now allow your shoulders to drop.
Allow your hands to unfurl.
Now take a long,
Slow,
Deep breath in,
And a long,
Slow,
Deep breath out.
And again,
Allow your shoulders to drop.
Allow your hands to unfurl.
Allow your hands to unfurl.
A long,
Slow,
Deep breath in,
And a long,
Slow,
Deep breath out.
Begin to breathe at your own pace,
And feel the tension leave your body,
Seeping out through your feet into the earth.
As you breathe,
Imagine a waterfall of white golden light streaming down over your head.
Through your body and the bottoms of your feet,
Releasing into the earth.
Relax deeply into the comfort of your own body,
The comfort of your own skin,
Knowing you are safe at home within yourself.
Now imagine yourself in a clearing,
When you see an opening in the trees ahead.
As you walk along the path,
See that you are in an ancient,
Old growth forest.
Feel the ground firm beneath your feet,
Air crisp against your feet,
Air crisp against your skin,
A slight breeze rippling the air.
In this old growth forest,
You see deep emerald moss,
Bright green vines,
Twining around the towering trees.
These trees are ancient grandmothers and grandfathers holding you with steadiness,
Warmth,
And love.
The knotted roots extend deep into the earth,
Firmly planted.
Sunlight flickers through the canopy of leaves,
Casting light and shadow on the trees.
Sunlight flickers through the canopy of leaves,
Casting light and shadow on the forest floor.
Hear the call of birdsong and the quiet movement of small woodland creatures.
Feel safe,
Protected,
And secure,
Knowing that you are surrounded by the ancient wisdom,
And compassion of the forest.
As you walk,
Your heart lifts,
And any and all tension,
Worry,
Or doubt dissolve into the earth beneath you.
You are held in the loving arms of the forest as you walk deeper and deeper,
Further and further along the path.
As you walk,
You begin to hear the faint music of fresh running water.
You follow the beautiful sound,
And as it comes closer and closer,
You see a gently flowing river.
You feel completely safe and at home,
As you find a seat on the bank of the river.
You gaze into the water,
Which is very clear and sweet.
You see large golden and ivory rocks on the riverbed floor,
Slick and glittering in the sun.
As you listen to the gentle flow of the water,
You begin to relax and loosen,
Releasing,
Letting go,
Softening.
The air smells of earth and pine,
Sweet sap and honeysuckle.
The air smells of earth and pine,
Sweet sap and honeysuckle.
As you watch the movement of the river,
Mesmerized by its beauty,
The water begins to flow through you,
Washing out any and everything stuck,
Stagnant,
Heavy,
Or unclean.
As the water continues to flow,
You feel the gentle rhythm rocking you into a state of complete relaxation.
As you breathe gently in and out,
A memory begins to appear in your mind,
As if carried along on the water.
This memory begins to grow brighter and expand,
Until you can see images and shapes begin to emerge.
Trust what comes.
Do your best not to judge it,
To welcome this memory in.
Do your best not to judge it,
To welcome this memory in.
As you look more closely,
The beings and objects in your memory become even more clearly defined.
What can you see?
What can you hear?
What can you smell?
Taste the inside of your mouth.
Feel your clothing against your skin.
What does it feel like?
What does it feel like inside your body?
Remember to trust what comes.
Allow the details to rise up and settle in.
Remember that you are completely safe and secure.
You are not living this experience.
You are simply receiving it like a gift fully formed in your mind.
Allow the details to intensify.
Allow your feelings to amplify.
You are safe.
Ask your subconscious mind if there's anything else you need to remember right now.
These memories are coming to you as a gift.
These memories are coming up for healing.
Allow these memories to arise from your subconscious mind without judging them.
Just trust what comes.
Now,
Very gently and very tenderly,
Imagine pulling this memory from your mind and holding it in your hand.
Choose a leaf from the forest floor and wrap your memory securely in this leaf.
Put the leaf somewhere safe and protected on your body,
In your pocket or keeping it in your hand.
Thank the river now for offering up this perfect gift.
Thank the forest for bringing you exactly where you needed to be today.
Thank the forest for bringing you to where you need to be today.
Thank the forest for bringing you to where you need to be today.
And when you are ready,
Imagine yourself standing up from the riverbank and beginning to walk back down the path through the forest.
Feel gratitude and blessings from the moss and the trees,
The leaves,
The vines,
The trees,
The leaves,
The vines,
And the sky as you walk back further and further along the path until you reach the clearing once again.
Be sure your memory is securely in hand as you begin slowly and gently to arrive back in your body,
Back in your room,
Back in your home.
Feel into your hands and your feet.
Feel into your arms and your legs as a slight smile appears on your face.
Find your leaf and begin to unwrap your memory.
Open your journal and begin to write everything that has arisen.
Write down everything that has arisen from your subconscious without judgment or censorship.
Just trust the words that come.
Allow the images and the details to emerge freely on your paper.
Let the words flow.
Don't stop moving your hand.
Trust that the memory and the words arising from your pen are the exact memories and words that you need right now.
Let it flow.
You may begin.
