Healing Drums 25 - Traditional Yoruba Nigeria (Heal)
by JM Py
This 25-minute collaboration with Christopher Ifeloluwa centers on the Bata—the "mother drum" of the highest rank in the Yoruba ensemble of Oyo, Nigeria. Traditionally, the Bata is more than an instrument; it is a communicator. In Yoruba healing philosophy, rhythm is used to "clear the path," helping the listener release stagnant energy. The Bata’s complex, conical resonance is designed to speak directly to the nervous system. Our approach is humble: we use these traditional pulses as a mechanical tool for physical relief. By focusing on the deep, grounding vibrations, you allow your body to decompress and let go of stored tension. It is a straightforward environment for anyone looking to transition from stress into a state of natural ease. Drums and Healing (heal): This is about physical relief. These deep, grounding pulses are designed to help your body "let go" of stored stress, opening a channel for your emotions to flow out freely and naturally.
