Healing Drums 30 - Traditional Yoruba Nigeria (Heal)
by JM Py
In collaboration with Christopher Ifeloluwa, this 30-minute piece centers on the Bata—the "mother drum" of the highest rank in the Yoruba ensemble of Oyo, Nigeria. Traditionally, the Bata is a communicator capable of triggering emotional shifts and "clearing the path" to release stagnant energy. Our approach is humble: we use these pulses as a mechanical tool for physical relief. The Bata’s complex resonance speaks directly to the nervous system. A sign that the rhythm is working is a shift in your perception: if the drumming begins to sound structured or if you feel a surprising sense of quietness amidst the pulse, your mind has found its anchor. It is a practical environment for letting go of stress and finding natural ease. Drums and Healing (heal): This is about physical relief. These deep, grounding pulses are designed to help your body "let go" of stored stress, opening a channel for your emotions to flow out freely and naturally.
