Hi,

I'm Dr.

Kim.

Today I want to share a personal story with you about anxiety.

I used to live with it every single day.

Back in my 20s,

Although I was physically fit and healthy,

My nights were restless.

I had chronic insomnia.

My chest was tight,

My mind was spinning,

I was constantly stressed out,

Trapped in my own body,

Not knowing that I had any power to change it.

My life was literally a living hell.

Fast forward to today,

I've built a completely different life.

I moved to Thailand,

Created peace for myself,

And I honestly haven't felt anxiety for years.

It had become a distant memory.

But yesterday it came back.

I had committed to doing something a month ago,

And the day arrived.

Even before leaving my home,

I felt it rising.

My chest became tight.

My breath refused to drop into my belly and stayed shallow in my chest.

My throat closed,

My neck stiffened,

And my heart was racing.

Even my voice became dull and shaky.

And all of this was happening in the safety of my own house.

I hadn't even stepped outside yet.

That's the thing about anxiety.

It's literally your mind creating future scenarios that are not real,

While your body reacts as if they are happening now.

In that moment,

I was struck by just how powerful it was.

And then by the thought that some people feel this every single day,

Just like I used to.

Back then,

I did nothing because I didn't know there was something I could do.

But now I know.

The moment I felt my nervous system kick into flight mode,

I stepped into my SOS practice.

I went into a dark,

Quiet room.

I shook my body loose.

I started to breathe with the 4-6 rhythm,

Inhaling for a count of 4 and exhaling for a count of 6,

Making my exhales longer than my inhales.

I finished with a quick round of EMDR,

Moving my eyes from side to side as I held this feeling and the thoughts inside my head.

And within five minutes,

Just five minutes,

My nervous system reset completely.

When I walked into that event,

I was calm,

Centered and collected.

And you know what?

I actually had an amazing time.

This is the real power of somatic practice.

This is the gift of nervous system regulation.

This is what I teach.

It's not just how to manage anxiety,

But it's how to reclaim your life,

How to turn moments of panic into peace so you can show up fully,

Not only to feel better,

But to manifest bigger things,

To live the life that's waiting for you.
