Welcome to this guided meditation where we will use the sky as our inspiration.
I invite you to find a comfortable place either seated or lying down.
Allowing your body to settle.
Resting your hands gently wherever they feel natural.
Observing your body as you settle in.
And when ready,
I invite you to softly close your eyes or soften their gaze.
Let us begin with the breath.
Inhale slowly through your nose.
And then let the exhale come as long,
Easy release through your mouth.
Again,
Breathing in through your nose.
And then letting it out through your mouth.
Just feeling the weight of your body where it meets the earth beneath you.
Everything that has been pressing on your mind today.
Just pause.
Set it down gently right here at the door.
You can pick it up later if you need,
But for now,
You are free.
And I invite you to gently begin to imagine you're standing at the edge of a high open meadow.
The grass around you moves in long,
Lazy waves.
The sky above is vast and endless.
Breathable blue,
The kind that seems to go on forever in every direction.
And you clouds drift slowly,
Unhurried,
As though they have nowhere to be and are perfectly content about it.
You lift your face upward.
And there,
High above you,
A single bird is soaring.
I invite you to watch it for a moment.
Notice how effortlessly it moves.
No straining.
No forcing.
Simply riding what is already there.
The invisible currents of warm air rising from the earth.
It doesn't fight the wind.
It finds it.
It trusts it.
Breathing in slowly.
Slowly.
Feeling your own chest rise and expand.
And breathe out more.
Now,
Imagine something remarkable.
You begin to rise gently,
Gradually,
As if the same warm current that carries the bird has found you too.
Your feet leave the soft middle grasp.
And you are lifted,
Not with effort,
But with surrender.
The more you relax,
The higher you rise.
Inhaling for four counts.
Two,
Three,
Four.
Feel yourself lift,
Holding.
And then exhale.
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six.
You feel yourself glide.
You are soaring now,
Like that of the bird.
The land below is a patchwork of greens and golds.
Forests and fields.
Rivers catching the light like ribbons of silver.
From up here,
Everything looks quieter.
More spacious.
The things that felt heavy and tangled on the ground look small and simple from this height.
You are not above your life.
You are simply seeing it with wider eyes.
Breathe in this wider perspective.
Allow it to fill you completely.
And then breathe out anything that has felt too close,
Too crowded,
Too loud,
Not serving you.
Taking it all in as you glide along.
And then you notice that the bird is beside you now.
Moving in long,
Graceful arcs.
You follow its lead,
Leading gently into a slow,
Wide circle.
Feeling the air holding you completely.
There's nothing to grip.
Nothing to control.
You are held by something larger than yourself.
And it is enough.
It's always been enough.
Inhale,
Expansive and full.
As wide as the sky around you.
And then pause it,
Suspended in stillness.
And then exhale,
Letting the breath carry you forward.
Move and unforced.
Allow yourself to rest here,
High in open sky.
Feel the sun on your face and the cool air beneath your wings.
Noticing the silence up here.
Not an empty silence,
But a full one.
The kind that hums with aliveness.
You are part of the sky.
You always have been.
This freedom you feel right now,
This lightness,
It isn't somewhere you have to travel to.
It lives inside your breath.
Inside the space between your thoughts.
Inside the simple act of letting go and trusting the current.
Taking one more long,
Beautiful breath in.
Expanding.
Filling every corner of yourself.
And then holding it gently at the top.
And then release,
Slow,
Complete,
And free,
Letting that go on the exhale.
And I invite you now to begin to find your way back.
Feeling your body where it rests.
Feeling the ground beneath you,
Solid and welcoming.
Bringing gentle movement to your fingers and toe.
Observing how you feel as you begin to come back.
Your natural breath.
And in your own time,
If your eyes are closed,
Softly opening them.
Taking a moment to observe.
You have not lost what you found out.
You have found your way back.
You have found your way up there.
The open sky lives in you now.
And whenever life feels heavy or small,
You know the way back.
Simply breathe.
